Morning everyone!
4D scan today!!
Hope everyone's having a lovely day 💙

Marmaladebear · 25/05/2023 07:25

@DomesticElf congrats on your new job! In absolute awe that you've done this while pregnant - I've barely been able to function!!

Sorry to hear about sickness returning - I've been the same but not nearly as bad a first and most of second trimester. I swear I had about a week off feeling good and energised.

Absolutely shattered today, had a super long work day yesterday and had every single meal with clients 😭 lots and lots of in person meetings and client dinner that went on very late. We have a wellness room at work (this makes it sound better than it is, it's basically a room no one really uses with a sofa in it) so went for a lay down at about 3pm when I had a gap in my schedule and that really helped. Usually when I feel like that I just go home but didn't have that option yesterday.

On the up side my clients mostly know I'm pregnant now 😂 didn't have to tell them on zoom like I did last time!

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 25/05/2023 10:31

Officially submitted my last assignment for my Masters until after baby (deferred my next module as exams are same week as my due date 😅).

So just work and the house renovation... when can I start nesting 😂😂 nursery is almost complete though.

Anybody else feel like their due date is creeping up so fast but there is still so much to do beforehand?

Rowanandremy · 25/05/2023 15:40

@sally16 Hope all goes well with your 4d scan! We had ours recently and it was truly
magical.

@DomesticElf Congrats on your new job!

@MinnieFirstTimeMum We feel like that, it can be kind of overwhelming can’t it? We seem to have a long list that never goes down, no matter how many jobs we tick off 😂

Dd had an awful fever last night and has been off preschool today, she’s a bit hit and miss with her moods (understandably) and I think we are all incredibly tired which isn’t helping. One bit of good news today is I finally got an outfit sorted for a wedding I’ve to attend next month, I’ve been struggling to find anything that looks halfway decent on me and getting ridiculously stressed over it.

DesertSnow · 26/05/2023 08:49

@DomesticElf Congrats on the job!

@Rowanandremy I know what you mean, I also find it amazing they can tell which part of baby is which. I don't have a clue! Sorry your little one has been poorly. I'm finding it hard to find clothes I like now, and have a wedding in a couple of weeks time that I'm dreading on this count!

Welcome @Wineismybestfriend, I'll add you to the next list. Do you know what you're having? Definitely with you on the exhaustion, and still getting nausea from time to time.

@newmummie Sorry to hear you tested positive for gestational diabetes. Have they given an indication as to whether you'll need medication or whether it can be controlled by diet?

@sally16 Hope scan went well.

@MinnieFirstTimeMum Congrats on submitting! Yes, I definitely don't feel prepared and there's so much more to get organised. Especially as it seems there's a good chance they might want to bring my delivery forward if baby isn't thriving.

How's everyone doing weight wise? Going by some of the online calculators, I'm 4 pounds above what I should have gained so far and I've put on nearly 2 stone. Don't know if it's something to worry about or not?

Spiralout · 26/05/2023 15:29

12 pounds on so far, 30 weeks today. However I started off with a high BMI so am only supposed to gain a maximum of 19 pounds overall. Hoping I can just squeeze under that!

Rowanandremy · 26/05/2023 16:07

@DesertSnow I have no clue either! I find it fascinating but very perplexing 😂 I think DD’s illness has been a quick one thankfully but the fever has been a thing to grapple with. You have my sympathies about clothes, I’ve been tearing my hair out trying to find a decent outfit for the wedding - dw was the one to find one but I’ve lost count of how many dresses/skirts and tops we’ve ordered and had to send back. I’m struggling a bit with day to day wear too but I’ve never been to a wedding before (other than my own) so I put a lot more pressure on myself I think. I hope you find something to wear that you are happy with!

@jollydollyirl I’m 29+5 currently I’ve technically put on 6 pounds but I’ve noticeably lost quite a bit (which admittedly I could stand to lose) I’m fitting some summer clothes that were tighter pre pregnancy and are loose now. This happened when I was pregnant with dd so there’s no concerns being raised about it, I just know not to go mad after baby is born which is what I did when dd was born and promptly put on 2 stone that I’ve struggled to lose since.

sommeliermama · 26/05/2023 16:44

@jollydollyirl I have gained 22 pounds already at 28 weeks. Gained almost nothing in the first trimester but it has piled on recently, even though I've been eating pretty much consistently throughout the pregnancy

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 26/05/2023 17:13

@DesertSnow @Rowanandremy yes so much to do and definitely a little overwhelming.

@DesertSnow I hope you get some clarity once you have your TORCH results.

Re weight gain I have gained 14ibs but was quite petite before so it feels like a lot, although I am measuring small so I am having growth scans now x

Amme18 · 26/05/2023 17:37

I’ve put on 9lb but again, high BMI and noticeably lost weight from other areas, and same happened with DS - I’m just literally unable to eat the portion sizes I did before which is clearly a good thing…but again the problems start once baby is out 😅

overwork · 26/05/2023 17:39

@sommeliermama I am almost exactly the same, was hoping that I wasn't going to put too much on as I'd not in the first trimester (I'm overweight at the best of times). But all of a sudden the weight gain has really ramped up

Sjw30 · 26/05/2023 18:07

Is anyone starting to feel really overwhelmed with how fast due dates are approaching? I just feel like I’m not prepared even though I’ve still got plenty of time! But with work around the house and garden needing doing as well as still being at work I’ve just sat and cried thinking about everything 🤣😭. PGP is crippling me too so I feel like a lot of the physical stuff is on my partner which he doesn’t mind but he’s at work all week as well. Anyone got a magic wand 😅

Rowanandremy · 26/05/2023 22:40

@Amme18 I can’t eat the same portion sizes either that and baby gets very, very active whenever I eat which is an interesting sensation to say the least 😂 I’m a little bit worried once he’s born, when dd was born I wasn’t hungry for a week and then I didn’t stop eating so a little bit worried I’ll be the same this time even though I should know what to expect.

@Sjw30 me and dw are definitely feeling overwhelmed and a bit stressed over everything we’ve got left to do/get. I don’t think it’s easy when your seeing what needs doing around the house/garden as a constant reminder which is all I can see at the minute 😂 I’m sorry you are also feeling overwhelmed, we just need to keep reminding ourselves there’s plenty of time (does that ever help!!). I’m also having to rely on my wife more because my back is a nightmare at the minute and it’s definitely compounding the feeling of being overwhelmed with an added dose of guilt.

Sjw30 · 27/05/2023 06:00

@Rowanandremy ah sorry you are also feeling the same! I think you’re right as well, some of what I’m feeling is a bit of guilt because I feel useless! There is plenty of time I think once I finish work will feel easier because work is exhausting me

LS888 · 27/05/2023 08:19

@Sjw30 and @Rowanandremy Im definitely feeling the same here. Just so much to do and so little time. Trying to finish some work we have had done on the garden and have realised yesterday that we haven’t ordered enough top soil. I was hoping we could put the turf down next weekend and then the garden will be pretty much ‘done’ with what we definitely need to be finished before baby. Then we are also updating upstairs in the house which started off as just the nursery but some how we have ended up doing another bedroom and my husbands office too! I don’t know why we did that 🤣 So the office has just been finished (ish), on to the bedroom which is partly painted and we can’t do the nursery until that room is done! I can see a massive bill from ikea coming our way 🤣🤣🤣

BCxx · 27/05/2023 20:28

We still have so much to do too and it’s concerning me that the earliest we will start will be next weekend when il be 29 weeks. I haven’t bought many clothes at all and feel I can’t go through all the clothes until the room is done and I have somewhere to put it away 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’ve put on 2 stone 😩 thought I was doing well as I’d put on over 3 stone last time and was heavier to begin with but had lost a lot of weight this time before I started and at 12 weeks I wasn’t doing badly at all. Got the fright of my life last week when I weighed myself 🙈 Trying not to worry about it though, most of it did come off quite fast last time as I just didn’t have the time to sit about eating biscuits with a baby and now thinking with a baby and toddler I will have even less time for eating biscuits so it should fall off again 🤞🏻

sally16 · 27/05/2023 23:36

@BCxx I weighed myself at work on Friday and I'm the same! 11kg!! I was like nooooo!!!!!! 😩
I thought id been so good aswell

BCxx · 28/05/2023 05:08

@sally16 to be fair I think I was probably quietly confident due to not having put much on at the start despite eating loads so I continued on. Really need to try and cut back a bit over the summer 🙄 in the grand scheme of things though it really doesn’t matter, no one else’s notices, they just see it as ‘you’re pregnant’ and it will come off so we’ll be fine

CityKity · 28/05/2023 15:21

@Sjw30 and @Rowanandremy I’ll join you on the totally overwhelmed train. Starting to panic slightly as about to hit 31 weeks and we have bought zero for the baby and it’s starting to get more and more real how little time we have left. I’m really unhappy in our flat but we haven’t managed to find a house in time so have decided to stay out out of practicality but honestly want to cry most days.
We’ve started NCT which it’s making reality sink in, but also feel so far behind other couples that it’s giving me more anxiety that comfort tbh.

@MinnieFirstTimeMum similar weight gain to you. I didn’t put on much at the beginning at all, but had gained 7kg at 30weeks (feel bigger a week on, so may have gained more now). I haven’t felt physically much different until around now when I’m getting more tired on my feet as usual, and struggling a bit more bending over and painted my nails / putting on shoes 😅.

Had a worry that baby’s movements were reduced over the last week. I left it a few days (which I know I shouldn’t) but finally went in. Everything looked okay on the CTG and I’m pretty sure baby is kicking normally now, and must have just been in an odd position last week. Still - have a check up ultrasound next week so will be reassuring to see baby again!

How is everyone doing exercise wise? I’ve had to stop running now as it’s just making me cramp and putting too much pressure on my bladder so is really uncomfortable. So really down to walking a lot and an occasional spin class.

Sorry for the long one - I haven’t been back for a while but have been checking in!

Rowanandremy · 28/05/2023 16:42

@Sjw30 There is plenty of time but when you think how much time has passed since the beginning of the pregnancy it makes it seem like there isn’t enough time at all - at least that’s what’s happening for me! It’s hard when work is exhausting you, some days I’m finding it so tough to have the energy to get out of bed but our bodies are working over time - we just need to remember that I guess.

@LS888 oh no! That’s so frustrating, especially being mid job and having to stop. I’m sorry I had to laugh a little at you saying about updating your upstairs, we’ve done the same thing! For some reason one job has turned into decorating both bedrooms with the hope of the bathroom also being done and the downstairs toilet - now the house is upside down as we shift things from one room to another and then back again - it seems never ending. Who knows what we were thinking but now we’re in it we’ve got to see it through 😂

@CityKity Try not to panic about not having bought anything yet, we didn’t start buying for dd until I was beyond 31 weeks, we’ve only bought for this one because we’ve had the money available and there’s been good deals we felt we couldn’t walk away from 😂I’m so sorry you are unhappy in your flat, when we had dd I really disliked the home we were living in. It really made for dual feelings because we were soo happy to have her but we weren’t happy in our home and were desperate to move. Like you, we had to stay and ultimately we stayed another 3 years before finally getting this place. Now we know we have to move again and desperately wish we didn’t 😂 I’m struggling a bit with getting trousers and shoes on, some of that is down to back pain which has been horrendous the further along I get but some of it is definitely because of the bump and how uncomfortable it is to lean down. Regarding exercise I’m still swimming but drastically reduced from 5/6 days a week to only 2. I’m very much feeling slower and I’m getting tired a lot quicker, my ultimate goal is to reach 34 weeks (only 4 weeks left) before stopping swimming completely but I might not reach that goal.

overwork · 28/05/2023 18:39

@BCxx I'm pleased no one is commenting on you, I'm getting it constantly, 'oh you're really big aren't you'.
I'm baffled that anyone thinks they've any business commenting on my body at any time, let alone when it's a vulnerable time.
I tried to be polite with my responses the first few times but I'm not particularly any more.

LS888 · 28/05/2023 19:02

@Rowanandremy same here! We really shouldn’t have started doing the entire upstairs… just a nursery would have done! But now that is the last thing on our agenda 🙈 my husbands office has just been put back together, but we have another room in chaos and then finally we will start the nursery! We have ordered wardrobes from ikea so they will hopefully come next weekend 🤞🏻then carpet fitters… etc. all in the next 10 weeks but I’m also hoping for some down time before then. Why do we do it?!

@BCxx I’ve currently put on more than I was expecting too. 22lbs! Wondering how I will lose it. I thought I was doing so well too. But the last 10lbs has suddenly crept on! Trying to be a bit more mindful now especially as summer is approaching and ice lollies and nice BBQ food become part of my staple diet 🤦🏼‍♀️

@CityKity try not to compare yourself to others- I know how hard it is not too and I am guilty of this too. You are better finding the right home for you rather than rushing into something that isn’t quite right. Baby won’t mind what your house is like either.

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 28/05/2023 19:33

@overwork I can really relate to this too. I am so over people saying how big I look (especially when I am being sent for growth scans for measuring small). I just don't understand how being pregnant gives anybody the right to comment on our bodies. My MIL does it all the time, similarly to you I have been polite but the other day I just snapped and said something along the lines of "funny because at 28 weeks pregnant I still weigh half of your weight" I immediately regretted it and wouldn't dream of commenting on anybody's body. But it just came out without thinking 🤦🏻‍♀️

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 28/05/2023 19:35

On a different note, I know it has been mentioned on here before so apologies for the repetition. But I am unsure yet if I want to breast feed or not, however I am trying to find some reliable information on colostrum harvesting, has anybody found anything? X
