@NSx so I'm having a scan at 7+6 but that's at the emergency gynae unit at my closest hospital which is not the same hospital I'm planning to have rest of my maternity care (and where I've got the fetal medicine scan), but it's where my GP referred me to when I had suspected ectopic, and now they keep inviting me back for more scans!

The scan with fetal medicine unit is going to be when I'm 13 weeks so within the usual time frame for normal 12 week scan. I want to call and ask why I'm going to be scanned by fetal medicine but sitting with DC all afternoon because of school strike and don't want to give the game away that I'm pregnant yet.

I'm wondering if it's my age, 40 is approaching!

Itsokaymama · 02/03/2023 18:31

@Bee1994 twins! How exciting, congratulations 💓

Eponeen · 02/03/2023 18:38

Tentatively checking in. My due date is actually 4 November but as I'll have an elective c section and they're always the week before it'll be an October baby if it sticks. I am 4+5 today but have just had 2 early miscarriages in a row so am not overly hopeful but am trying not to be too pessimistic - what will be will be. I have one DS who is nearly 6, his birth was so traumatic that I haven't felt ready to have another until now.

Belles22 · 02/03/2023 18:47

Just as ye were talking about harmony. I'm getting panorama test done tomorrow, you can get it done from 9 weeks and I'll be 9+3. Basically same as harmony but a little more accurate and can get done a week earlier which is a bonus. Will be definitely finding out gender as had a surprise on my first 10 years ago so would like to know on this one! Test is 430 euro as an in Ireland. Hope this helps

NSx · 02/03/2023 19:16

@Jealousofchiliheeler Oh I don’t know then, I know that I’m seeing the consultant at fetal medicine because of my history, maybe because you had suspected ectopic ?
tbh fetal medicine are better than just the regular maternity, they are specialists so I find you’re actually in the hands of the best 💕 it’s not a negative thing so I wouldn’t worry 🤍 but maybe if you ask they will give you an explanation, again I don’t think it’s anything to be concerned about ✨

NSx · 02/03/2023 19:19

@katherine123x i don’t think it’s a metallic taste it’s like a weird taste that won’t go away, I can’t explain it 😭😿

Koalawhala · 02/03/2023 19:42

Hi @Eponeen, really sorry to hear about your losses and traumatic birth. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly for you this time. It’s such a worry when you’ve had previous losses isn’t it x

MeganC104 · 02/03/2023 19:47

Congrats @Bee1994

I'm so tired, like exhausted. Trying to entertain my toddler whilst lying on the sofa

EMcG3 · 02/03/2023 19:49

@Jealousofchiliheeler - I also recently lost a pregnancy from chromosomal abnormalities (Edwards) and spent some time under the care of foetal medicine as well. They're just specialists with unusual pregnancy situations, so they probably just want an additional check before discharging you. By all means call and tell them you're having the 12 week scan at that time, but overall with them you are in great hands and they are taking extra care with you.

EMcG3 · 02/03/2023 19:50

@MeganC104 I always try this, I am never successful...

6strings1song · 02/03/2023 19:55

Can I join? 😊I have been lurking up until now. I am 8 weeks tomorrow and due around mid October. Have my booking in appointment next weekend and it can't come soon enough. Feel like I have been waiting and waiting for any sort of "official" acknowledgement of the whole situation!

At the moment no one knows other than me and dh, plus one of my close friends. Trying to hold off telling DPs until we have had the scan, mainly because I am not sure how I would handle telling them bad news. Also I know my MIL will be very excited, which is both good and bad as there will be lots of "helpful advice" and being sent endless links to websites. 😬We are considering a private scan at about 10 weeks, so that hopefully we can share the news a little sooner.

Main symptoms at the moment are fatigue, a constant "hangover" feeling, headaches and feeling unsettled/queasy. Oh and massive sore boobs and bloated stomach (had to loosen my belt). There is also a packet of ham in the fridge which I can barely look at without feeling a strong aversion. 😅

NSx · 02/03/2023 19:59

@EMcG3 im sorry that you went through that too, it’s tough. Mine was t13 so not dissimilar to your story. 🤍

Congrats @Bee1994

This was me today too. I'm afraid my toddler just had TV on most of the evening, I've been travelling for work last 2 days and I am just shattered 😴

EMcG3 · 02/03/2023 20:28

@NSx - I think we may have been on the same TTC after TFMR thread, though I am a bit of a lurker and less of a poster.

It was tough times but a new pregnancy helps feel like moving forward. I hope you are also having a positive experience of being pregnant again after that difficult time.

SoBoredOfWaiting · 02/03/2023 21:15

Hi all - thanks @Soda123x for the new thread.
Big congrats @Bee1994 on the twins and @LWestYorks on healthy baby scan.
Not much to report, 8wks +4 today, had my booking on app and received my 12 wk scan date through the post. Nausea has seems to have slightly subsided but still gets me with strong smells! We were cooking a chicken stirfry tonight and I gagged over the smell of the raw chicken.
Also getting up 3-4 times a night for a wee, anyone elses bladder on active mode at night?

Chanteuse · 02/03/2023 21:23

My nausea is awful today, I’m not actually throwing up just gagging 🤢 soooo tired. In bed now!

Happyhappy39soon40 · 02/03/2023 21:27

Told my children that I am pregnant. Now wondering if I told them too prematurely 🤔🤔🤔
I am 6 weeks. Having my booking appointment 12 March.

Jealousofchiliheeler · 02/03/2023 21:35

@NSx @EMcG3 thanks that's reassuring, sounds like I will be in really good hands then. Just really threw me earlier because not the appointment I was expecting!

VictoriaBlossom · 02/03/2023 21:39

@mariamari I'm glad you've mentioned a doula, no one I know even has an idea what a doula is.
I really want one, how did you find your doula?

VictoriaBlossom · 02/03/2023 21:40

@Bee1994 it all runs in female genes, I've got twins in both sides of my family. My grandma on mums side had 2 sets of twins!

What a wonderful surprise!! Congratulations 🥳

PeopleAreToads · 02/03/2023 21:56

@NSx I've had the weird taste thing this week too! Washed my water bottle a few times because I thought it was the the lid, then realised it was just in my mouth

Alexandra07 · 02/03/2023 22:13

@Happyhappy39soon40 it's done now! Just share and enjoy their excitement!

I am just 5w+4d but since yesterday when laying down I am not flat anymore below the stomach. Is it because I drink too much water? When a difference on the body should be seen?

Saturnsmoon · 02/03/2023 22:40

@Alexandra07 With a first, single baby pregnancy I don’t think you’d expect to see anything in terms of a baby bump until 12w+ so it might be caused by bloating. I wouldn’t worry about it being due to drinking too much water, I actually think you are supposed to drink more in pregnancy so keep it up :)

@Bee1994 congrats on the twins 💕

@LWestYorks happy you had a good scan and feel reassured

The insomnia is killing me this week (8w6) I’ve literally not slept properly in 4/5 nights and getting to the point of not being able to function. Supposed to be going to a festival this weekend and haven’t a clue how I’ll keep my eyes open past 8pm.

Alexandra07 · 02/03/2023 22:48

@Saturnsmoon that's my second 😂 I know that with my first by 12 weeks I could definitely see a difference, but I can't remember when I first became wider.

Saturnsmoon · 02/03/2023 22:54

@Alexandra07 aaaaw well with second babies I do think it’s normal to start seeing stuff earlier on. This is my first and I already feel like I’ve gained weight just from the amount of saltines I’ve been eating to keep the nausea at bay 😅
