Congratulations on everyone who has had their scans so far 😊

For those having a harmony test can I ask what it tests for? I really don’t know much about it but thought the things it tests for are picked up in the nhs scans?

Summer022 · 02/03/2023 13:06

Hi all, I’m only 6+1 and my early scan will be at 8 weeks. I still really don’t have any symptoms at all and it’s concerning me so much. I don’t know if it’s normal to sometimes not have any, but I’m so tired of worrying about it.

SnookyPook · 02/03/2023 13:11

@BeaKind Twinnies!!! How exciting! 😁 Do you get more monitoring/scans etc with a multiple pregnancy?

@Summer022 definitely in the bounds of normal to have no symptoms. This early stage is just so full of uncertainties isn't it. I'm trying to be zen but it feels so long until I can find anything concrete out!

ttcttc · 02/03/2023 13:14

@Bee1994 did you have any idea??

Congratulations 👣 👣

iloveeggs · 02/03/2023 14:25

Yeah I'm sure the harmony test is the name as NIPT.

@BeaKind The harmony test is to check for things like down syndrome and t18/t13. Basically to check for chromosome conditions 😊I think I'm going to do it for peace of mind. You can do it from 10 weeks on.

@Bee1994 Oh wow, amazing! Congrats!!

blebbleb · 02/03/2023 14:35

How much is a harmony test and how is it done?

Jealousofchiliheeler · 02/03/2023 14:40

@blebbleb I suspect it varies depending where you are. I'm in London and the cheapest I've seen is around £400, but lots are around £500. I think it's similar process to NHS testing, blood test and an ultrasound scan, but I think the blood test is more accurate and looks at fetal DNA in mother's blood test, I think that's why they can also tell you the gender.

blebbleb · 02/03/2023 14:45

@Jealousofchiliheeler thanks for the explanation :) ill probably just wait for the nhs one then as we don't really have the spare cash even though it would be nice!

AlongcameLainey · 02/03/2023 15:11

Aww fab news @LWestYorks bet you are over the moon x

NSx · 02/03/2023 15:37

Is anyone else bloody shattered 🥹

katherine123x · 02/03/2023 15:43

@NSx can't function!!

NSx · 02/03/2023 15:57

@katherine123x 😭😭😭😭😭 I feel like shit and I have a weird taste in my mouth that won’t budge 😿

katherine123x · 02/03/2023 16:05

@NSx metallic??

iloveeggs · 02/03/2023 16:11

@NSx yuuuuuup! I seem to have a good day and then wrecked the next and it just repeats itself. Feel like I’ve been hit by a train today.

SnookyPook · 02/03/2023 16:13

@BeaKind apologies, think my Twinnies comment should have been directed to @Bee1994 😜

OrionNebula · 02/03/2023 16:14

iloveeggs · 02/03/2023 10:59

Is anyone considering getting a harmony test done? My consultant mentioned it to me, seems like a good idea.

I'm booked in for harmony on 15th. Will be finding out the sex then too.

NSx · 02/03/2023 16:19

@iloveeggs I’ve been absolutely fine up until now 😭😭 thought I managed to avoid it x

SillyOldBear3 · 02/03/2023 16:32

@SnookyPook I feel the same! First pregnancy and spotting would scare the life out of me! Luckily OH doesn't seem too bothered at the moment 🤣

@katherine123x Same here! I am constantly shattered and asleep by 9pm so not really in the mood!

SillyOldBear3 · 02/03/2023 16:33

@Bee1994 Amazing! How are you feeling?

I had such dark lines very early on that I have a little niggling 'what if' in the back of my head! No twins in our family though so probably not that likely!

Jealousofchiliheeler · 02/03/2023 16:35

So I'm still waiting on my first midwife appointment but scan appointment just popped through the door. But weirdly it's with the fetal medicine unit, which sounds slightly scary and not at all what I had with my last pregnancy, although that was at a different hospital! Has anyone ever been seen by fetal medicine department and know what the deal is?

Alexandra07 · 02/03/2023 16:42

@Bee1994 wow twins!! What a surprise! Congratulations!

@iloveeggs definitely having a nipt, but maybe not the harmony.

@BeaKind the nipt checks for chromosomal anomalies, it's a blood test and some places do a scan at the same time. NHS will offer you the nipt if the combined test comes back as high chances. I don't want to wait that long to find out, I am over 40 so higher risk and luckily I can afford it. Bonus is that in the price the gender test is included.

CB23CB · 02/03/2023 17:04

@Bee1994 💖💖 congrats!!

NSx · 02/03/2023 17:18

@Jealousofchiliheeler ive dealt with fetal medicine a lot, when my baby was diagnosed with t13 I dealt with them.
I have my first reassurance scan with them too. Are you having an 8 week scan with NHS, likely this will be at fetal medicine as this is outwith the normal timings of the nhs scans (12 weeks)

Koalawhala · 02/03/2023 17:52

@Bee1994 wow congratulations! What a surprise for you

BabyG2loading · 02/03/2023 17:57

@Bee1994 amazing 💕💕💙💙
