@iloveeggs sorry, yes i did read that. really glad for you!

VictoriaBlossom · 01/03/2023 17:19

Has anyone seen that gender blood test you can have? Sneakpeak? is that what its called.
Who's had it, and who's thinking about it?

Hankthehonk · 01/03/2023 17:32

@NSx Im so sorry for your loss last year 😢
I found abc4d to be good except that they didn't warn me that the internal scan might cause spotting later. Totally unnecessary stress.
My experience at the Royal was mixed, it was so busy when I gave birth that I felt I was on a conveyor belt, and we were punted out way too quickly. We had to be readmitted to a different ward the following day because my daughter was really unwell and not feeding, and then the care we got there for the next 5 days was excellent. But I can't help thinking they should have picked up on what was wrong with her before discharging us the first time (obviously I've blamed myself a lot for this too but ultimately I didn't know what to look for).
I'm hoping that being in a smaller hospital and less populous area will make for a better experience this time.
All my friends who have been through QEUH had better experiences than me!
I should say there were lots of amazing hardworking midwives at the Royal, and this was the height of covid times, I think it was a consequence of a really busy day at scotlands busiest maternity hospital.

SillyOldBear3 · 01/03/2023 17:49

Thanks for starting the new thread! I've been lurking a while, lovely to hear about everyone's progress! I'm exactly 7 weeks today. Finally phoned to book a midwife appointment yesterday and just waiting for a call back. They said my booking in app would probably be next week. I have really mild symptoms, just slightly tender boobs and tiredness (I fall asleep by 9pm most nights).

Random q.. anyone a bit afraid of having sex?! My poor partner isn't getting any 🤣 I'm so paranoid!

Hopefulx · 01/03/2023 17:50

@iloveeggs ah so so glad everything well in your scan, that is such good news 💞🫶🏼

@VictoriaBlossom yes and I’ve already got my blood test pack ready and waiting 🙈😂 my plan is to have my scan on Friday and if all goes well I’ll take the blood test next Monday. I wish I could hold out to 16 weeks but I’m just too impatient 😂apparently it’s 99% accurate so should be worth it x

LaVitesse2022 · 01/03/2023 17:55

@iloveeggs great news, have a lovely holiday!

Hankthehonk · 01/03/2023 11:50

I'm a bit worried, I did my last CB digital today expecting to see 3+ and it's still 2-3. I'm somewhere between 5+5 and 6+2 so surely it should have progressed by now? Has anyone had this happen then it's been ok?

Honestly, no, I haven't experienced this, but you were having really strong FRER lines before weren't you? Didn't you say you have an early scan booked, is that soon?

ttcttc · 01/03/2023 18:10

I've got a stinking headache again tonight.

What's been everyone's first purchase? I've been trying to hold off so as to not pre-empt anything, especially after a mc in December.

But I was in Aldi today and they were selling these off for £3.59 so grabbed some. Not even sure if they'll be the type I use 🙊

FirstTimeMamaB · 01/03/2023 19:09

@victoriablossom I know a few people who used sneak peek and they are really good! Impatient me would love to know early, but I think I'm going to try and wait... I'll let you know how that goes 🤣

Hankthehonk · 01/03/2023 20:01

@Jealousofchiliheeler thanks for replying, my scan is 12 March which feels far away at the moment. Yes I was getting dye stealers on frer and cheapie last week.
I've been googling (as you do) and it does seem that the weeks progression on cb digital is imprecise and lots of people asking same as me. I still want to get another one and try again 😩 but I should probably just hold out for my scan

Alexandra07 · 01/03/2023 20:01

@VictoriaBlossom I'll do a nipt and ask for the gender, it's included in the price.

I am probably 5w+3d and did my first free(but several cheapies already done!). I got a dye stealer and it feels good! My first milestone was reaching 5 weeks, next one is the 8 weeks. Counting down the days. I'll feel a bit more relaxed after the 8 weeks.

Chanteuse · 01/03/2023 20:12

Wow this thread moved quickly!! I’m sure there will be 40 threads by the time we get to October! 🤣

I’ve been to town today after work shopping - loads of birthdays for me this month so super busy. My mum’s birthday is 2 days before Mother’s Day! 😩 anyway, you’d think I’d run a marathon, I am totally exhausted! I’ll be back in bed before 9pm again tonight - totally unheard of for me before pregnancy!

Hope you’re all okay 💕

NSx · 01/03/2023 20:21

@Hankthehonk thanks so much, she had t13 so unfortunately it was never meant to be, didn’t make the situation any easier right enough. This will be my rainbow baby so I’m hoping everything is ok this time, I’m being scanned at QEUH fetal medicine on 15/03 so I’m hoping that reassures me, however it feels like a lifetime away, I see you’re being scanned just before me, fingers crossed we have some good news 🤍🤍🤍
Oh that sounds awful, I agree they should have picked up on it before you left but maybe like you said covid had an impact on their stress/work levels. I’m glad your wee girl was ok in the end 💕💕
Are you from Glasgow originally and have moved away?

I just read your reply regarding your 3+ - I don’t think you should worry too much, if you’re getting dye stealers on FRERs I think that’s a good indication of rising HCG 🤍 it’s so easy to say don’t worry, but the reality is that this is such a worrisome time isn’t it 🫣

NSx · 01/03/2023 20:22

Ladies who gym —

have you been continuing as normal?
I read that you can continue being as active as before you were before you were pregnant if that’s normal for you, but where do you draw the line, what’s safe?

I’ve avoided going to legs, bums and runs, but spin is still ok isn’t it?

NSx · 01/03/2023 20:23

Tums * my phone hates me sorry 😂

Baby1023 · 01/03/2023 20:28

@NSx i was going as much as poss - still doing Pilates and body pump mainly but nausea and sickness got the better of me so was only making 1-2 times a week and not at all this week so far.
I am going to go as soon as I feel better though as I want to try and keep strong and active throughout the pregnancy.

what I’ve read is that if it’s something you were doing already - keep it up but avoid high impact activities.

I think I’m going to try swimming a bit more too. It’s never been my strength but obviously great in pregnancy.

Itsokaymama · 01/03/2023 20:33

@Mamabear345 yess mine is soo dry its become painful, I'm trying not to wash it as much but i cant think of anything else to try so please let me know if your find anything 🙌🏻

Hankthehonk · 01/03/2023 20:56

@NSx I'm originally from Ayrshire (Irvine), moved to Glasgow and was there for 12 years, then moved back to Ayrshire (Stewarton) once we had our daughter. My parents are still down here and we rely on them a lot for childcare, plus we got a lovely house for the same as we sold our Glasgow flat for. I still work in Glasgow. What about you, have you always been there?
I can't even imagine how much more anxious you must be having experienced the loss of your first baby. The scans do feel so far away even though life is busy!
Thank you for the reassurance about the digital test, I'm a bit less stressed now than I was when it happened this morning. I think I've been too obsessive about tests and it's best not to buy any more (definitely not counting up how much I have spent on them!) My symptoms have been back with a vengeance today which is grim but hopefully a good sign. Somehow I just need to wait until next Sunday for the scan and then I'll finally know how things are going.

Chanteuse · 01/03/2023 21:17

@Baby1023 I’m going to start swimming again once my fatigue has improved a bit!

Has anyone seen that gender blood test you can have? Sneakpeak? is that what its called.
Who's had it, and who's thinking about it?

Oh I hadn’t heard of this, do you just send away for the test? I must do a bit of Googling. Anyone here from Ireland by any chance? :)

(6 weeks and counting) 🤰🏼

NSx · 01/03/2023 21:28

@Baby1023 what do they class as high impact? 😂😂 …
how far along are you? I’m just about 6 weeks and feeling quite well in myself so want to keep at the gym until I can’t really 😅🥹

@Hankthehonk yes so I’m from Glasgow; I moved back a year ago as I just spent the last 9 years in the UAE, but Glasgow is my home 🤍
I’m so stressed because everything was fine at my early scan the last time, it all started to unravel at the 12 week scan/blood test, so I’m terrified for that equally 🥹
yes I’ve spent a small fortune on tests myself I’m not doing it anymore, whatever will be will be I guess - we can’t change anything now x

SnookyPook · 02/03/2023 00:09

Great news @iloveeggs ! So glad it went well! Have a lovely holiday!

@SillyOldBear3 I was just thinking this the other day .. we did a few times during my last pregnancy but I remember being really worried after the first time (first trimester) as I had some spotting after. I'm just not really feeling it yet - only 5+2 and still feeling it's all a bit precarious. I think all official info is that it's absolutely fine but I'm just not in the right headspace right now! He did get a HJ a couple of nights ago though 😆

katherine123x · 02/03/2023 07:50

@SillyOldBear3 nice to see you back!! .. yeah me neither. In my current state I just don't feel a) like I have enough energy b) I feel so bloated still c) I've read everywhere it's safe but I'm worried it's not 😂

LWestYorks · 02/03/2023 08:39

Morning ladies! Feeling super anxious this morning, I’ve booked in for an early scan for 11.30am will let you know how it goes. According to my dates I’m 8 weeks today but I don’t know how accurate that is 🤣 x

iloveeggs · 02/03/2023 08:50

@LWestYorks Best of luck today, will be thinking of you!
