@BeaKind and @LaVitesse2022 not an ounce of nausea or sickness. I'm sure that when baby is safely here we will look back and consider ourselves so lucky, but honestly it just stresses me out that I've no tangible symptoms, apart from tiredness! 9+1 today, scan tomorrow and scanxiety is fairly through the roof, even though I had one just over a week ago and all looked great!
I am also really with those who are gaining weight, I did IVF and havent done any exercise since late December, apart from walking. I would've been running 6x per week and gym 3x per week so feel like I'm turning into a blob ... have my had the heart to go near the scales!

BeaKind · 14/03/2023 04:07

@Happyhappy39soon40 I’m keeping everything crossed for you. X

🙋‍♀️ Also one that won’t step on the scales. I’ve definitely put on a few pounds already. Craving all the carbs and salty food. I reeeally need to start exercising! Hoping once the cravings go my toddler will help me keep the weight down? 😬

@VictoriaBlossom I’m the same as @Alexandra07 I was pretty hungry when I was breastfeeding and didn’t lose the weight as easy as my friend who was formula feeding. My baby was super needy though and wouldn’t sleep unless I was holding him so I could barely move for most of the day. Her baby was a dream and slept anywhere so she was out and about with him all the time. Once mine got out of the fourth trimester it slowly started coming off and I got to pre pregnancy weight probably by 9 months ish. I didn’t really put pressure on myself though so didn’t try too hard.

Currently can’t sleep and reliving my horrible first Covid birth 😫 praying this one is different but thinking I need to do a birth review. Has anyone done one of these?

BeaKind · 14/03/2023 04:09

@ali2021 good luck for your scan tomorrow. I’m sure everything will be fine. ☺️

Pregnancychatter · 14/03/2023 04:23

Been awake for an hour, pregnancy insomnia 😭

Smiffette · 14/03/2023 06:40

@BeaKind I think how active you are really does play a part in the weight loss after. First baby had the luxury of being lazy, this time I'll have a 3 year old to keep entertained.

My friend had her second in October and said the weight came off so much quicker for this reason.

I definitely won't be worrying about how quick it comes off, pre pregnancy it was a worry but having done it once I'm confident it will happen again.

I worried a lot about how I would fit my exercise in which was a big part of my life before, and yes it took about 18 months before I was back doing it regularly, but I got there and felt so much better for it. So unless this baby is an angel compared to the last when it comes to sleep, I'm excepting it will be a little while again

CB23CB · 14/03/2023 06:43

Finally a night of unbroken sleep, but still feel like I've been hit by a bus.
Is anyone else catching lots of colds? I'm on my third one in 8 weeks. It's just exhausting!

Needtobuildabridge · 14/03/2023 07:46

@CB23CB I've just been signed off for a week with laryngitis- I'm never ill!

My bloods came back from my booking appointment as high in a few areas, so I've had to have more drawn to have the tests rerun.

Then I'm bloated, gassy and sore - feeling in the wars already! 😅

SillyOldBear3 · 14/03/2023 07:46

@VictoriaBlossom I haven't dared go on the scales yet but I imagine I've put on around 5lbs already, and before I was pregnant I wanted to lose a stone 🙈 I hope what they say about breastfeeding is true!!

Also, none of my bras fit. My boobs were already big and now they feel like melons 🤣

Chanteuse · 14/03/2023 09:12

I feel dreadful today. Keep dry heaving, just drinking a lucozade to try and settle myself. Bad news is I’ve got a 12 hour day today - Parents Evening 😭

EMcG3 · 14/03/2023 09:31

@VictoriaBlossom - breastfeeding and weight loss is a bit of a tricky relationship. On one hand you have 500 or so calories a day going out on milk production, on the other hand, your body is going to demand more calories (and water) to support milk production. It is definitely possible that that equation results in weight loss, but a whole bunch of other factors are at play. It can be pretty hard to find the energy to make healthy meals for yourself while also caring for your baby, particularly if they have really long feeds. Then you maybe end up eating less well. Or because you are the only one feeding your baby, end up sleeping less well in the night either because you are co-sleeping and find it disruptive or because you are getting up to feed your little one. Being tired is a contributor to wanting to eat more. There did not end up being a relationship between feeding method and weight loss in my mom's groups.

SnookyPook · 14/03/2023 10:25

Hi All, good to hear how you're all getting on.

@Happyhappy39soon40 everything crossed for you for Thursday. Hope it comes round quickly for you so you're not in limbo for too long. 💕

@BeaKind I've not been sick. I've had some nausea which usually goes if I snack on something. My first pregnancy was the same. Nausea but no vomiting. At the time I remember being almost desperate for some sickness to show that things were progressing ok! Now I'm thankful!

I really didn't track my weight after DS was born. I quite enjoyed being at a time in life when I was able to just let my body image take a back-seat to function. I remember scoffing half a pack of bourbon biscuits whilst doing a night feed one day haha. I have a dog so got out on a daily walk and the weight did drop off in a healthy gradual way. I think we'll within a year I was in my pre-pregnancy clothes which might sound a long time to some of you but you're so absorbed with your new role of Mum etc that for me that was fine. I think as a rule of thumb they say expect as long as the pregnancy took for the weight to come off again (so close to 10 months) and this seemed fairly accurate to me.

Fifianne · 14/03/2023 10:45

Hello everyone, congratulations to you all. I’m currently 7 weeks 6 days and have been experiencing cramping and I feel like I’m loosing my pregnancy symptoms. I have a scan booked in for Thursday but wondering has anyone else been experiencing this. I’m really nervous as last year I had 2 MC the first being a MMC. I’m more concerned over loss of symptoms. 😔

SnookyPook · 14/03/2023 10:55

@Fifianne hi lovely. So I would say the cramping isn't anything to worry about on its own. The uterus is constantly stretching etc at this point and it's very normal to have some aches and pains. One of my pregnancy apps specifically mentioned cramping at wk 7 too.

So sorry for you previous losses. Of course they are going to mean you're on high alert for every possible thing that could go wrong and I imagine this is heightened now with your scan so close. Unfortunately there is no 'normal' in pregnancy. Whilst for some a loss of symptoms is a bad sign, for others, fluctuating symptoms can absolutely be fine. It might also be that you're almost bracing for the worst and actually if you stop and take some deep breaths you will see there are still plenty of signs there. Ultimately, the truth is that you can't fully know... And that out of control feeling is the worst thing about this first trimester. You have to keep trusting and hoping that if this little one is going to make it, they will keep growing healthily. Maybe find some nice affirmations or mantras you can repeat when the anxiety is at its worst. And try to do some visualising of your little baby in your womb and growing stronger. Wishing you all the best for Thursday. Big hugs!

Fifianne · 14/03/2023 11:09

@SnookyPook
Thank you so much for your message, honestly it means so much and I really appreciate it. I will take your advice. 💕💕

Jealousofchiliheeler · 14/03/2023 11:15

Just got back from scan, good heartbeat seen so feeling very relieved! Measuring 7 weeks 3 days so just 3 days behind dates according to LMP, they said nothing to worry about.
Still no answer about my possible weirdly shaped uterus because consultant wasn't there because of junior doctors strike but honestly I'm past caring about that and will just ask if they can check it at my 12 week scan, don't want to take yet more time off work when it won't change anything at this stage!

@Fifianne I've had quite a lot of fluctuating symptoms and also cramping at times as well, so I think it's quite normal. Hope your scan goes well later this week!

SnookyPook · 14/03/2023 13:47

@Fifianne ❤️

Ss32 · 14/03/2023 15:20

I lost loads of weight in the first 6 months of breastfeeding my first but then the eating continued and she fed loads less. She’s 2 now and I’m sure I’m heavier than ever (not weighed myself since pregnant!). Last time I just embraced the chill time but this time I want to be back in the gym by the time baby is 3/4 months

MeganC104 · 14/03/2023 16:54

I think my meat aversion that I had first pregnancy is creeping in. I've been pigging out on chicken because I had a feeling it would come and now now I'm feeling like I don't want to go near any meat. I'm going to push myself to make dinner tonight then I might have to look at veggie only recipes for the next few weeks.

EMcG3 · 14/03/2023 17:43

@MeganC104 - I have this! I thought it was so weird to be specific to meat. It also only got a little bit better between pregnancies, never really went away (though mine were really close together).

AlongcameLainey · 14/03/2023 17:44

Has anyone had their 12 week scan appointments in yet?

I had mine in the post yesterday for 6th April but I think I’ll only be 11 weeks and 4 days at that point 🤔

Chanteuse · 14/03/2023 18:28

@AlongcameLainey I’ve been given the 4th of April as my 1st scan date when I’ll be 13 weeks! Gutted it’s not earlier to be honest as I’ve not had an early scan.

MrsL22 · 14/03/2023 18:47

@AlongcameLainey @Chanteuse I've had mine through but I’ll be almost 14 weeks!! Not sure whether to call them and ask for an earlier appt.

Summer022 · 14/03/2023 18:54

Sitting in Tesco car park being sick into a plastic bag. Oh the glamorous pregnant life 🤢 this sickness is just awful. Has anyone got any useful remedies? It’s almost becoming too difficult to hide from people now.

LR94 · 14/03/2023 19:05

@Summer022 i’ve got some sickness bands which help. This is the website myrtleandmaude.com/products/acupressure-wristbands?variant=39512363204807&currency=GBP&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gclid=Cj0KCQjwtsCgBhDEARIsAE7RYh0VztkP32oHP_XqDtSgeCKkJjLNQBB4f2gziOnJ2egOA64sUZ4VeF4aApyUEALw_wcB

but I haven’t actually been sick, i’m just nauseous 24/7, not really wanting to eat anything etc and it seems to dull down the sickness. I’ve also tried eating first thing in the morning and as soon as i feel even slightly hungry I try to eat because i feel the sickness gets worse on an empty stomach. I might be gaining weight like crazy but the sickness is horrendous and it seems to be the only thing.
i’ve heard loads of people say ginger biscuits but the thought of eating ginger makes me worse haha. Hopefully you find something that works for you ❤️

VictoriaBlossom · 14/03/2023 19:06

Oh @Summer022 so glam. Congrats on your sickness! Mines still not arrived. I've bought a she wee in case I need to pee while I'm out on the road. That's my only solution for pregnancy issues right now. Don't think a she wee will help your sickness babe
