Thanks for the drinks ideas!
@PrimarilyParented I'll definitely go fancy with some elderflower presse! I deserve it! 😂

SnookyPook · 08/03/2023 22:53

Congrats @VictoriaBlossom - great news!

Congratulations on all the lovely scans, especially @Needtobuildabridge after your scare. @Happyhappy39soon40 i really hope that your next scan shows a heartbeat and that all is well, it sounds like a very scary time and I’ve been there in my last pregnancy but when I went back two weeks later there was a heartbeat and I have a healthy son now so I really hope in your case the same is true.

for all of your really suffering with nausea/sickness I feel so sorry. I’ve been quite queasy today but was thinking I’m so lucky compared to some and I’m only able to hide my pregnancy because I’m not committing. I am dreading feeling sick tomorrow as I have a whole day of teaching plus parents evening. I think it’s partly psychological as I’m so stressed about getting through it that I think it’s making me feel sick.

Thanks for your encouraging words. Well i am hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. I am still bleeding ( wiping only). Very puzzling.

How are you getting on?

CB23CB · 09/03/2023 03:24

Hey wide awake club!

Saturnsmoon · 09/03/2023 03:53

@CB23CB I’m abroad so it’s actually daytime here now but I woke up at 4.30 this morning and didn’t manage to get back to sleep so I feel you!

I thought I’d got past the insomnia for now but it appears not. I have a feeling that for me it might be linked to my diet. It seems to be much worse when I eat fibre / (healthy) foods rather than just carbs and stodge ironically.

P.s. meant to say I have my 12 week scan booked already even though I’ve not been to my booking appointment, they booked them both in at the same time. Not sure if anyone else’s trust does that, but I was pleased and I was easily able to move it to a date/time me and my partner could both make and get childcare.

Yeah, mine books both at the same time over the phone

PrimarilyParented · 09/03/2023 06:37

@Happyhappy39soon40 i’m keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I’m ok, still spotting on and off and trying to stay positive despite that although it is on my mind. My next scan isn’t for over a month now which feels like a huge wait, but I’m busy with work so that’s helping the time pass.

Jealousofchiliheeler · 09/03/2023 06:43

@LR94 how are you feeling this morning? Any better? Was your temp 38.1 before taking paracetamol or after? Is it possible it's Covid? Hope you feel better soon. Flowers

Chanteuse · 09/03/2023 07:15

I slept terribly! Woke up hoping for a blanket of snow and a snow day but alas I’m not that lucky and I’m off to work 😂

katherine123x · 09/03/2023 07:33

Anyone suffering with nausea waking you up during the night??? It's driving me insane

Saturnsmoon · 09/03/2023 07:51

@katherine123x yep, same here. Had it pretty bad in week 7/8 culminating in a night of non stop vomiting. It then seemed to go away and got probably about a week of decent sleep and now I’m almost 10 weeks and back to waking up at 4.30 feeling so nauseous that I have to get out of bed and eat something and then struggle to get back to sleep - it’s a nightmare because by the time 11am comes around I’m ready for a nap again which isn’t possible because of work. I really hope this doesn’t continue past the first trimester.

katherine123x · 09/03/2023 07:55

@Saturnsmoon I'm 8 weeks today and it's really kicked in. Was thinking of taking some ginger nuts to bed and eating them during the night 😂😂😂 luckily I'm not struggling with insomnia I'm just always tired I could sleep 24/7 so when I do wake up it's not for long. Talk about broken sleep practice 😂

Keeping everything crossed for you too. It's horrible. Stay positive. How many weeks are you?

Koalawhala · 09/03/2023 13:10

Great news on your scan @VictoriaBlossom!

I’m 7 weeks today and symptoms seem to have kicked in, I’m feeling quite lightheaded. Anyone else had that?

Klex · 09/03/2023 13:58

I had no cravings last time, mostly aversions.

This time the same aversions but was really craving fizzy watermelon sweets. Of course they aren't the easiest to find!
But got some online which have just arrived!

VictoriaBlossom · 09/03/2023 13:59

@Koalawhala so tiredness has kicked in for me, I've spent most of my day napping!!!! I'm lucky to be able to work from home and been emailing when I'm awake.
I'm zonked!

Koalawhala · 09/03/2023 14:05

@VictoriaBlossom I’m so tired too! Good that you can work from home and take it a bit easier. I’ve been home this week with poorly DD so I’ve been making the most of sofa time and movies

Jealousofchiliheeler · 09/03/2023 14:12

So for the last couple of days very little symptoms and was freaking out, not helped by hormones. On Monday evening saw a newborn on TV and almost burst out crying.
Today symptoms seem to have returned with a vengeance, waves of nausea and retching but nothing coming up. Working from home today, walked into the kitchen and DH was making a tuna sandwich, had to walk straight out again. So far though I can still have coffee, last time the smell of it just revolted me.
Glad that I'm at home though, lying in bed trying to finish off a piece of work then hoping I can have a lie down. No idea how I used to manage working in the office every day in my last pregnancy!

VictoriaBlossom · 09/03/2023 14:19

@Koalawhala just had a yorkie biscuit and I think I'm gonna see it again shortly, my belly is not happy.
Glad I'm off Friday and Monday.

Koalawhala · 09/03/2023 14:36

I remember napping in my car during lunchbreaks when I worked in an office when pregnant DD! 😂Really feel for anyone working in a physically demanding job.

LaVitesse2022 · 09/03/2023 15:07

I'm also one of lucky ones that can work from home. Even though my job is demanding, I feel wfh has really made it so much easier to cope with the fatigue. I've been taking some naps right after lunch that really helps.

VictoriaBlossom · 09/03/2023 15:07

@Jealousofchiliheeler I feel you, I chose to go for a private scan because my symptoms kept coming and going.
Was struggling to sleep, didn't know if that was pregnancy insomnia or my mind going mental, although I've slept for 12 hours from midnight when I got into bed

pangolin84 · 09/03/2023 15:53

Just had my booking appointment and happy to be low risk for pretty much everything. I was a bit worried about my age (38) but they don’t seem to care until you hit 40.
The midwife also said they don’t listen to the heartbeat at any of the appointments any more, it’s all about fetal movements now. It’s because the heartbeat can’t tell you if the baby is well or not, but whether they’re moving about as usual is a good indicator.
Now just waiting for 12 week scan appointment in the post.
I’m sure last time I got some sort of certificate which meant I could get free dental care in pregnancy but forgot to ask about it this time and she didn’t say anything about it 🤔

Jealousofchiliheeler · 09/03/2023 15:58

@VictoriaBlossom I have a scan booked with the EPU next week who seem desperate to scan me with consultant because of possible funny shaped uterus which they couldn't check last time. They said they'll check viability of pregnancy at the same time. So that is reassuring although it still feels like AGES and I keep imagining they'll tell me that I've had a MMC. Return of symptoms today is also reassuring though, albeit grim.

VictoriaBlossom · 09/03/2023 16:03

@Jealousofchiliheeler i have found it's the only thing that's settled me. I even got my OH to sit outside instead of coming in with me and I said I'd get the sonographer to shout him if there was something to see.
The last 2 scans I had with him were confirming twin MMC's so I felt embarrassed in case it was the same thing again. Maybe embarrassed or ashamed, don't know. Was a great moment to see that flickering heartbeat.
Apart from tiredness and eating a whole family sharing size bag of salt and vinegar crisps, not had any symptoms today. I wonder if maybe we will be lucky to not face extreme symptoms? Or they'll just land late and knock us out at 10 or 13 weeks
