@pangolin84 thats interesting about the heartbeat checking. How do they measure for movements? Is it just your account of their movements or are they prompting them to move when big enough I wonder.
I used to like the reassurance of hearing the heartbeat but I guess that makes sense

I think you need a form from your midwife for the free dental (and prescriptions). I think they give you a form to fill in but that may have changed

pangolin84 · 09/03/2023 16:31

@Koalawhala She said it will just be us monitoring their daily movements. Maybe it’s different in other NHS trusts - I’m with North Bristol.
When I was pregnant last year (lost it a week after my booking appointment) the certificate thing was electronic - they sent it to my email. Mind you, I can’t find an NHS dentist anywhere so it won’t do me much good anyway!

lighthousechristmas · 09/03/2023 16:59

@pangolin84 I live in Bristol too, what hospital have you choosen?

ttcttc · 09/03/2023 17:01

I can't believe you all get to choose a hospital 😂 we have one! The next nearest is one hour away and in the other direction probably about 1 hour 20.

katherine123x · 09/03/2023 17:13

Anyone else just fed up of worrying?? Not meaning to play a tiny violin but just struggling today!! I feel like once 12 weeks is here I will rest but every minute of every day I'm worried. I'm also on massive self preservation and trying so hard to not get excited just in case! I never realised how hard on your mental health the first stages of pregnancy would be!!! Lots of love to all you ladies on here. Reading you all going through similar things to me and each other helps massively 💕

natalik · 09/03/2023 17:15

@katherine123x I feel the same way.
Today is first day I have some moments where I am not nauseous so I think something is wrong and when I am nauseous I'm exhausted.
I have 4 weeks to go and I don't know how to make the time go quicker.

Sending lots of love 💖

lighthousechristmas · 09/03/2023 17:17

@ttcttc eesh I ha3 to choose from - all less than 30 minutes away, but thats one positive from living in a big city!

@katherine123x and 100% i want to tell our friends next wednesday but our scan isnt until the Monday after and i'm second guessing it every second, as part of me is SO scared! I have barely been excited at all. Never realised the anxiety around this first trimester!

lighthousechristmas · 09/03/2023 17:18

@ttcttc clearly didnt re-read that before sending - i meant I had 3 to choose from :)

Alexandra07 · 09/03/2023 17:32

@pangolin84 your GP or midwife can complete the certificate and send it off. The form has a name, your GP reception should know about it. I think you have to feel one offsete of it, not 100% sure. Last time a physical card was sent to me. Google it. You also get free prescriptions for 1 year after giving birth. If you pay for a prescribe you can get the money back but you need a special receipt to claim them back.

@katherine123x I feel exactly the same. I can't let my self get excited. My plan is to have the results of a nipt before the 12 week scan, and start announcing after 12 weeks. I am only 6w4d so it's a looong wait for me. I try to help myself busy so time passes by quicker.

pangolin84 · 09/03/2023 17:33

@lighthousechristmas Going with Southmead, although I’m actually aiming for Cossham birth centre 🤞
How about you?

pangolin84 · 09/03/2023 17:40

@katherine123x Constant anxiety here too! I actually mentioned it to my midwife at my appointment today and it felt good to voice it to somebody other than my poor DH who must be sick of my whining by now 🤣
This pregnancy is triggering some raw emotions that I think I’ve been suppressing from my missed miscarriage last year. I’m hoping things will get a bit easier if we successfully navigate the 12 week scan. At the moment I’m trying not to get too attached to the pregnancy - although not very successfully. Little bean has stolen my heart already.

firstlittlefrazzleontheway · 09/03/2023 17:41

@pangolin84 my midwife said that the dentist and prescription exemptions will come in the post this week after my appointment last Friday

lighthousechristmas · 09/03/2023 17:44

@pangolin84 Southmead too - actually went there yesterday to meet with a consultant - they were very nice! Would have LOVED Cossham (it's about a mile away for me haha) but i'm high risk because of my BMI (sigh).

pangolin84 · 09/03/2023 17:46

@Alexandra07 @firstlittlefrazzleontheway Thanks I will chase it up if nothing happens in the next week. Find it a bit odd she didn’t mention it but there’s a lot to cover so she probably just forgot. I only thought of it once I got home!
Also saw a sign in the clinic that I can have free swimming at council pools during pregnancy, which is great. Not sure how many areas do that but it’s a good perk. Loved swimming in my first pregnancy, especially near the end when I felt like a whale.

pangolin84 · 09/03/2023 17:49

@lighthousechristmas Wow we must be very close then as Cossham is 3 miles from me!

LaVitesse2022 · 09/03/2023 18:12

@katherine123x I feel you and the others on the anxiety. But rather than waiting for 12 weeks (it's no magic cut-off point for miscarriage risk, risk decreases with each passing day), I've been reminding myself that with each day and week that passes, the chances of things going well increase substantially. And also to keep in mind that the chances of things going well from the start are much higher than things going wrongly. I'm a bit of a data geek so the Miscarriage Odds Reassurer has really helped to keep the emotional worries in check by my rational side.

katherine123x · 09/03/2023 18:19

@LaVitesse2022 I have looked at that too!! I've gone from something like 28% to 5!! So that does help!!

Koalawhala · 09/03/2023 18:57

@LaVitesse2022 i hadn’t seen that site before, it’s interesting!

I have my early scan tomorrow at 7w +1 😬

PrimarilyParented · 09/03/2023 19:00

@Happyhappy39soon40 I’m 7 weeks 5 days according to LMP but expect to be at least 5 days behind that. I ovulate late and don’t know 100% when I ovulated this cycle but with my first I conceived on CD 23 (he’s a MAP baby) so I know it can be as late as that. But my scan put me at 5+ weeks when I was 6 weeks 1 day by LMP so not too far out.

DancingNancies · 09/03/2023 19:03

I've given in and booked a private scan today - my 12w appt is right in the middle of the easter hols so without telling anyone we have no childcare and our hospital doesn't allow them at the scan. So private one booked for 27th March - it's only a 10 minute dating scan but hopefully it'll be reassuring enough that I'll be happy to go to the NHs one a week or so later on my own, and 🤞🏻 DH will have seen baby for the first time with me so isn't missing out!

DC2 was born in 2020 so I had to attend my 20w scan alone - we wanted to know the sex and they won't write it down for you so I found out first and had to tell him later - that was rubbish, so if I can avoid firsts on my own this time I'm happy to pay!

NSx · 09/03/2023 19:07

@VictoriaBlossom 🤍🤍 so lovely to see your scan. Mine is still on Wednesday did your DD change.

Congrats to all those with their lovely scans - it’s so nice to see ✨.

I have the worst nausea every day all day, it normally doesn’t come to much just the occasion gag but it’s really challenging to sit in work all day in an office 🥹🥹 I don’t know how I’m going to survive this.

LWestYorks · 09/03/2023 19:33

Evening ladies! So I’ve suffered with nausea since 6 weeks I am now 9, and today is the first day I’ve been physically sick 😩 I ate lunch and immediately felt so sick after it then after around an hour I vomited. Anyone else had this? I had pasta mayo for lunch so didn’t know wether it just sat too heavy.

Okay great. What is a Map baby? 🙈

MrsL22 · 09/03/2023 20:04

@NSx I've been a bit of a bystander on this thread but I’m in the nausea club 🤢
As a teacher I’ve actually been signed off work by my GP. Although I’m not being sick it’s so debilitating battling constant nausea all day! I’m 8 weeks tomorrow based on an early scan but 9 weeks from LMP. Just wish I could be sick because then I’d at least get some relief.

NSx · 09/03/2023 20:27

@MrsL22 its bloody horrendous 🥹🥹🥹 I’m considering using those travel wrist bands ? have you tried them?
