@iratepirate congratulations!

Can't wait for your update @Rainbowbaby23 good luck!

Blocklynn · 20/03/2023 07:06

Congratulations @iratepirate can’t believe you were discharged so quickly!

TeddyBeans · 20/03/2023 07:34

@iratepirate congratulations! Glad everything went smoothly for you in the end 🥰

We were discharged just as quickly, DD was born at 1.25 and they came back at 3.30 ish to say we could go home. If you're a straightforward birth there's not really any reason to keep you in hospital. We just had to go back later for her baby check

OP posts:
iratepirate · 20/03/2023 08:26

Yes, we’ll have to go back in today for the baby check as there wasn’t anyone who could do that overnight. I’d rather do that than stay, though.

JB2021 · 20/03/2023 11:08

Due date tomorrow and just booked an aromatherapy sweep at the birthing centre. This has made it a bit real - FTM here! Bit nervous now

Dreamingof3 · 20/03/2023 11:44

Baby girl arrived this morning, 8lb8! Trying to come up with a name now 😅

Hope everyone else is doing ok!

Rose429 · 20/03/2023 13:48

Congratulations @iratepirate and @Dreamingof3 💐💐💐💐

Rose429 · 20/03/2023 13:54

I was walking around the mall earlier and this wave of “period cramps” just came out of no where. Each cramp lasted 5 seconds, about 20 seconds apart and the whole thing lasted for 10 minutes. It’s been an hour since and nothing has happened. Am I not in early labour, aren’t I? 😂

Blocklynn · 20/03/2023 16:32

@JB2021 good luck! They told me about them and it sounded nicer than a standard sweep.

Congratulations @Dreamingof3 🥰

JB2021 · 20/03/2023 16:33

@Blocklynn they mentioned at open evening so thought it made sense to go there. I just hope it works so I can avoid induction

I think that’s your body letting you know that it’s going to be happening soon. 😬But I seem to be having similar and then it all stops just to throw you off! I guess be careful when out and about now and take your notes with you!!

SleepySlumber · 20/03/2023 17:37

Hi all, I’ve been following this thread all
month so congrats to many of you on your gorgeous babies.

Thought I’d finally comment as I see as the threads dying down now many of you have had your babies that maybe it’s time for me to revive it along with the others that are still waiting - I’m due with my little girl in a week (c section on 28th!)

Im at that stage now (38+4) where it’s dragging and I’m ready to meet her but also trying to just carry on as I know I’ve got such a short time left. Really thought I was in labour last night as had loose bowels, back pain, nausea and braxton but nope just another false alarm.

Hang in there for those of you still waiting - it’s been a long journey - I’m struggling to actually imagine life with a baby as I feel I’ve waited so long now it’s hard to believe it’s actually real!!

Allthesmallthings90 · 20/03/2023 18:52

Hi all! Been following for a while but only now brave enough to post. Congratulations to all the new mummas! I'm due tomorrow and torn between jealousy of those who have bubs in arms and trying to enjoy the last few days of resting and relaxing as much as I want.

SleepySlumber I've had so much false labour, I'm a bit nervous I won't believe it's the real thing when the time comes! I don't get my hopes up anymore...it's a bit frustrating though isn't it?! Also with you on not really believing it's going to happen...so surreal.

JB2021 · 20/03/2023 19:15

@Allthesmallthings90 also due tomorrow. Is it your first? Its mine and I've a sweep booked tomorrow. Really want to avoid C-section (therefore induction as increases changes to cs)

I'm sat here now feeling like I'm getting cramps but wondering if its wishful thinking.

I was in town earlier and had a really sharp lighting croth/fanny daggers pain but just one.

I know chances of being on time a slim but..... Who knows!

SleepySlumber · 20/03/2023 21:19

The false labour is frustrating isn’t it. I’m sat here having more braxton hicks this evening and had really bad back pain earlier had to take paracetamol. But again I reckon it’s just my body messing with me.

Im such a control freak so I hate the unknown and the thought of having to go to the hospital in the middle of the night isn’t something I really want!

Rainbowbaby23 · 20/03/2023 22:04

What a few days. If youd rather not read something in gory detail and potentially traumatic then skip this..
everything was going completely perfect until I needed to push but because of OP position and my epidural, couldn't get baby out
was given an episiotomy and tried the venthouse but kept sliding off
used forceps causing to tear completely from clitoris right into my back package which i felt because half of my epidural stopped working when it came to the pushing stage. I started haemorrhaging really badly and had to be ran to theatres for them to stop the bleeding and attempt to stitch me together.
never got to do skin to skin until hours after baby born and now struggling to breastfeed😭
being kept in hospital for a couple of days where I'm not even allowed to pick up/set down or change my baby and im feeling pressured into formanfeeding too because i dont want him to starve and they told me my colostrum isnt enough for him

Rainbowbaby23 · 20/03/2023 22:05

Everything aside, welcome to the world baby Kyrie born weighing 7lbs 7oz!

Due March 2023 - Thread 9
Allthesmallthings90 · 20/03/2023 22:06

@JB2021 yes my first too! Having a surprise, do you know what you're having?
Not booked in for a sweep as I personally don't feel the stats make it worthwhile, but definitely up for one if I go so far over they start talking about induction. I'm also keen to avoid a CS if at all possible. Somebody has to be on time, might as well be you! Cramping right now too and SO hoping it means things are happening but I know I should just chill out and stop reading into everything 😂

@SleepySlumber ha yep trying to let go of control has been so hard! Just one more week for you and baby girl will be earthside...fingers crossed no night time dramas before then

JB2021 · 20/03/2023 22:09

@Allthesmallthings90 I would like to give birth at a birthing centre so if I'm induced that goes out the window so an aromatherapy sweep at the birthing centre is what I'm doing tomorrow.

Just after I posted I had aching in my lower back but that's gone now.

I'm trying to relax and not read into everything but so hard! Hurry up and just happen!

I've stayed active throughout pregnancy, still running and lots of walking so I'm hoping this will help.

TeddyBeans · 20/03/2023 22:10

@Rainbowbaby23 you poor thing 💐 sending you so much love! Don't worry about the skin to skin, you'll have plenty of time to do it from now on, it all counts! And don't let them bully you into formula feeding, you can still breastfeed if you want to. Topping up with formula isn't a bad thing if he's hungry but once your milk comes in you absolutely have that choice. Most of all though, congratulations on your little love, you're an absolute trooper ❤️

OP posts:
Dreamingof3 · 20/03/2023 23:16

Oh bless you @Rainbowbaby23 so sorry you had such a rough time! If you want to continue breastfeeding then they should be supporting you with that, however I will also say that there would be absolutely nothing wrong with combi feeding or switching to formula of it's going to give you a chance to recover a bit easier as well.

Congratulations on your gorgeous little one 😍

Dreamingof3 · 20/03/2023 23:17

Should be sleeping but I'm just staring at her 😍

(Also someone else baby is just constantly crying so I couldn't sleep anyway 🤣)
