@AGirlsNameIsAryaStark aww no I'm sorry! Have you read up on preeclampsia so you know what you're facing?

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 17/02/2023 15:29

Officially diagnosed with preeclampsia today…. 34 weeks and they’re now talking about inducing me at 37 weeks which is kind of terrifying!

Oh yikes, is there anything you can do in the meantime to help? Hopefully they have given you all the information you need.

Oh no, are you ok? I’m also being induced at 37 weeks, so we can sit on the bench together! Xx

Cuppasoupmonster · 17/02/2023 17:17

Well my hospital bag which split into 2 has now split into 3 😂

I remembered how last time my induction took 5 days, and I’d actually used up most of the supplies in my hospital bag before I’d even given birth 🙄 so now I have a bag for induction, a bag for labour room and a bag for my hospital stay afterwards. Not taking any chances having to wear smelly clothes or run out of snacks this time!

Well that’s my out of office on, cheers 🍻

TeddyBeans · 17/02/2023 17:31

@Cuppasoupmonster mines been split into 3 since the beginning - much easier to manage! Just gonna send DP out to the car to get the next one when I need it 😁

Oh and congratulations on starting your maternity leave @Cuppasoupmonster 🥳🥂

Cuppasoupmonster · 17/02/2023 17:32

Thank you! How are you feeling Teddy?

TeddyBeans · 17/02/2023 17:35

I'm okay 😊 GP confirmed my BP is between 130/80 and 140/90 so it's definitely on its way up but because it's not over 140/90 I don't have to worry just yet. Gotta keep an eye on it over the weekend and call triage if it goes over. 🤞 I make it to my midwife appointment on Monday

OP posts:
AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 17/02/2023 18:27

Thanks everyone…. They’ve admitted me for the night tonight for monitoring and prescribed blood pressure medication, as long as my BP responds to the medication and comes down they’ll let me go home and then be back twice weekly for checks to 37 weeks and we’ll go from there.

TeddyBeans · 17/02/2023 18:48

@AGirlsNameIsAryaStark sounds like a good plan! Hopefully the meds work and you're allowed home tomorrow ❤️

@AGirlsNameIsAryaStark , Im due same time as you and now also being induced at 37weeks- Mainly down to Reduced movement episodes.
I had pre-eclampsia in first pregnancy (25weeks) deliverd baby at 27weeks- My bp and protein in urine was sky high but thats the only symptoms I had.
Have you had to have steroid injection yet?

iratepirate · 17/02/2023 20:11

Ugh, midwife apt was a bit of a disaster this eve.
BP as high as it always is (It’s been borderline high BP in all pregnancies and also when not pregnant. I’ve never been medicated for it.)
Trace of protein in sample so they’ve sent that off for testing.

I asked for fundal height to be measured bc of the concerns with the tummy measurement on last week’s scan and was told they don’t measure FH until 2wks after a scan, and she thinks it would be better to go back for another scan instead. 🙄 So
apparently someone will make an apt for that next week.

She was mostly concerned about BP so went off for ten mins to speak to triage, who decided they wanted to see me for more monitoring.

So off I went to triage and was told I couldn’t bring DC in with me (had to pick up from CM early to make it in time for 6pm apt). So, I didn’t have a lot of choice but to leave. They made me sign papers to say I was leaving against medical advice.

TeddyBeans · 17/02/2023 20:38

@iratepirate sounds like a nightmare. Can you go back tomorrow without the tinies in tow? Or are you happy that your BP is normal for you?

OP posts:
iratepirate · 17/02/2023 20:46

@TeddyBeans it was inkeeping with what they seem to record at midwife apts. I tried to point this out to midwife but she just kept telling me it was elevated so I needed to be seen.
I get lower readings at home. This has always been consistent, pregnant or not. (Yes, I know that the home bpm isn’t calibrated for pregnancy, but it’s better than nothing).
DH is away this weekend so I’d need to take DC with me if I went back tomorrow. I have none of the other symptoms they keep asking me to be vigilant for. If needs be I’ll go back tomorrow with DC and just explain that’s the only way I can manage it. I just didn’t want to have to keep them waiting around for hours after bedtime this evening.

DaisyRainbow · 17/02/2023 20:49

Hi all, I've been following from the start as being a FTM it has helped knowing others are in the same boat. I was due end of March but my little girl had other ideas and arrived at 31+3. Good luck to all of those expecting their little ones soon 😀

TeddyBeans · 17/02/2023 20:52

@iratepirate if it's within your normal range and no other PE symptoms, I wouldn't bother tbh. When's your next midwife appointment?

@DaisyRainbow congratulations! How are you and little one getting on?

OP posts:
iratepirate · 17/02/2023 20:55

No more midwife apts booked yet, they seem to just pop them in the app now and again. I think its
complicated as they’ve stopped running the clinic at my GP so have been sending me to the next hospital clinic which consider me “out of area” so it all seems to be very last minute based on when they can fit me in.
I’m 37wks now so I presumed it would be quite soon but was just told to keep an eye on the app for next apt and hopefully another growth scan.

iratepirate · 17/02/2023 20:56

Congrats @DaisyRainbow - Hope all is well.

TeddyBeans · 17/02/2023 21:06

@iratepirate that in itself is lunacy 😱 I have next week's and the week after's already booked in. Can't imagine having to rely on someone remembering a week down the line that they should be seeing you in 2 days time. How frustrating for you

OP posts:
iratepirate · 17/02/2023 21:10

The worst part for me was trying to make sure I remember to check the app, but at least I’ve got into the habit now.

DaisyRainbow · 17/02/2023 21:14

Thanks @iratepirate @TeddyBeans she's doing amazing considering her gestation. Currently in SCBU but hoping we'll be home by March.
For those discussing wether to harvest colostrum I would highly recommend it if your able. I think taking the pressure off yourself in the 1st few hours/days will ultimately allow your milk to come in easier without the stress.

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 17/02/2023 21:16

@Cats23 noones mentioned a steroid injection yet, they gave me an injection when they admitted me but I’m sure they said it was a blood thinner for DVT. They’ve started me on Labetalol so I’m guessing if that doesn’t work steroids would be next

Saltandpepperr · 17/02/2023 21:40

My midwife told me for induction the few extra things to pack that help are your own pillow, eye mask and ear plugs does anybody have any other suggestions as I'm just packing my bag now.

Choc2022 · 17/02/2023 21:42

@DaisyRainbow congratulations. How are you and baby?

@Cuppasoupmonster regarding thrush pessary, do you know if you are NOT to take them after certain weeks? Im 35.3 and wondering whether to use a pessary or leave it.

Cuppasoupmonster · 17/02/2023 21:51

@Saltandpepperr is it your first? I would pack more than you think, my induction took 5 days(!) in part due to staffing issues, which I bet are even worse now 😐 my induction bag has a change of clothes (just underwear, leggings, vest top and sweatshirt), toothbrush and toothpaste, soap, deodorant, some drinks and snacks, medication and closer to the time I will add my kindle and pregnancy pillow. Oh and don’t forget a phone charger!!

@Choc2022 not that ive been told, 33 weeks today and have never heard anything about having to stop using them - this is my fourth round in this pregnancy!
