Morning everyone!

Is there room for a wee one to join this? I know I’m VERY late to the party but didn’t even know due date threads existed!

I’m still only just over 10 weeks so a little bit behind most of you … but have had one almighty chat catch up and there seems to be a good spread of experience and ideas which is great!

I’m IVF too, with an early miscarriage a few months ago, and then a pregnancy that’s seems to be healthy so far, with a scan yesterday and a jumping around surprise that seems happy enough! So feeling much relieved!

BCxx · 27/01/2023 11:02

Welcome @Cloudheaven congrats 🎉

BCxx · 27/01/2023 11:08

So I’ve said on here before about thinking one of my closest friends is also pregnant as we’re avoiding each other a bit 🙈…

Went to my midwife appointment for bloods this morning. With my son every time I went to these appointments there was a list of other appointments she had that day on the screen and you could see the names of everyone who’s pregnant. I live in quite a small town and she only does the clinics every few weeks. Went today and there was a printed sheet lying in front of me of 8 pregnant women. I was one of them and my friend’s name was on it 🤣🤣🤣 Ran to the car so quick after my appointment in the hope she wouldn’t pull in behind me 🙈

ChloeN · 27/01/2023 11:12

@BCxx no way, you must both be hoping you don’t bump into each other 🤣🤣

BCxx · 27/01/2023 11:15

@ChloeN now I’m wondering if she’ll be as nosey as me and look and know im pregnant too 😂 I’m guessing we must be due at a similar time so I’m expecting an announcement from her in the next few weeks then I can say me too 🤣 quite bad that I was able to see that (again)!

somuchtolearnabout · 27/01/2023 11:22

Terrible that you were allowed to see that but secretly very exciting that you’ll be doing it together! 🥰🥰

BCxx · 27/01/2023 11:34

@somuchtolearnabout I know, it was the same with our first’s but I’m guessing these two will be closer together!

BCxx · 27/01/2023 11:36

Anyone know when your very first bloods need to be taken? Just trying to see if I can work out roughly how many weeks she’ll be. Where I am we get a second blood test at the 12 week scan so this one was Rhesus factor, iron levels and hiv etc. Last time I had it way earlier, I think at about 7/8 weeks but I’m 10 and a half this time.

PumpkinEverything · 27/01/2023 12:08

Oh I’d totally not be able to resist saying something @BCxx 😂🙈 so nice you’re going to be off for maternity together!

BCxx · 27/01/2023 12:50

@PumpkinEverything if I was sure she’ll definitely have seen my name too I’d probably just text her now but if she’s not tried as hard as me to look there’s still a possibility she hasn’t seen it 🙈 She could be a week after me or something so I’m going to wait until she tells me her news to tell her mine 😂

TattyTil · 27/01/2023 12:57

@BCxx how nice to have a friend at the same stage! I was a couple of weeks behind one of my colleagues for my last pregnancy and it was so lovely to have someone close going through the same thing. Can't say our line manager was as thrilled mind 😂

TattyTil · 27/01/2023 12:59

Anyone looking for bump masks, Aldi are selling them for £2.99 each at the moment. I've bought a few to have in the fridge for the summer!

Chl0o · 27/01/2023 13:09

Has anyone got their covid booster and flu jab?
At my 12 week appointment the midwife advised I get them both so got them both today, hoping I don't feel absolutely awful later! 😬

buttercupbee · 27/01/2023 13:19

Just had my 12 week scan and everything went well 🥰 I was measuring at 12+5 so new due date is 6th August ❤️

LS888 · 27/01/2023 13:47

Congratulations @buttercupbee on the scan! Great news ♥️

Marmaladebear · 27/01/2023 14:18

@BCxx oh wow! Well done trying to dodge her, wonder if she saw your name too! How funny if you both secretly know the other is pregnant 😅

@Chl0o I've had my flu one earlier in the autumn before being pregnant which I'm told it's enough. Not had COVID booster yet - planning to get it after 12 weeks but apparently they're winding down the boosters soon so I need to get my skates on!

sally16 · 27/01/2023 14:34

@BCxx omg that's amazing I'd have been hanging about to bump into her haha!
Bloods wise it's routine in my area you have 'booking' bloods at your 12 week scan :)
Only before if checking iron levels etc but it's not routine maternity bloods xx

sally16 · 27/01/2023 14:35

Got my bloods back.. I'm fine 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

My sisters friend is a sports therapist who gave me a realignment yesterday and oh my god! The main hip pain is gone! He said to wait till after my 12 week scan to do it again and ask the consultant to verify it's safe to do after so many weeks but I think I'll just Chuck him £50 each time at this rate 😂

BCxx · 27/01/2023 14:47

@sally16 haha I did walk back out into the waiting room and kind of think it would be easiest if she was just sitting here and I could get it over with 😂 less than 2 weeks til I can tell her though! I don’t know why I get the first set of bloods then another set at the 12 week scan!

@Marmaladebear so funny, it’s made my day 😂 but also horrendous that it’s always so public when probably most of those people aren’t announcing it yet. You don’t go to the doctors and see a list of everyone else and what’s wrong with everyone so I don’t know why they seem to find it so hard in there 🙈

@TattyTil haha I bet 😂 yeah it will be great!

@buttercupbee amazing, congratulations! 🎉

I've been told I should have my covid booster and flu jab. However....I feel s**t enough as it is right now. So er, I'm kind of putting it off. Which isn't great is it? 🙄 hope you're feeling okay!

buttercupbee · 27/01/2023 14:56

@LS888 @BCxx thank you ladies 💕

Does anyone know how long it takes to get the screening results back? When my husband asked they said they will send them in the post within 2 weeks but I had hoped they would contact me sooner if something was wrong

overwork · 27/01/2023 14:56

Congratulations Buttercup
Can someone tell me what these bump masks are and what they do? Like a face mask?

Createcomet · 27/01/2023 14:58

LBF2020 · 26/01/2023 21:18

@somuchtolearnabout as a first timer I'd be interested to learn why inductions are so horrendous. Any tips gratefully received!

@Sjw30 god your scan went well 😊 are they going to get you back in to try and get measurements again?

Inductions aren't horrendous. Its just that as some of us have been through this before, we have a past experience which really steers how we want to/are allowed to birth this time. I think my midwife told me on Wed that 4 out of 5 inductions work. Mine didn't. So for me, one of my personal boundaries that I have in place for mine and my Husband's mental health is that I will have a section over an induction. Purely because I have that past experience to go off and I know how my body and baby reacted last time.

But I do also agree with whoever said about induction being unnecessary a lot of the time. They will push you for an induction if they think baby is "too big" or overdue, and it seems better to wait it out tbh.

Ultimately, every mum has a different preference, different boundaries, different pain thresholds, different ideas of what constitutes as trauma.....nobody else's birth matters except yours!!! And when the time comes you just do what feels right.

Rose05 · 27/01/2023 15:00

I haven’t had my flu jab or Covid booster 🙈 I was ill for my flu jab and just getting over Covid! Not sure there’s any point now.

sally16 · 27/01/2023 15:02

@BCxx some places do booking then 12 week to check levels and iron etc as a comparison:)
Wouldn't stress 💙
