@Perexi did you find NCT useful?

Cuppasoupmonster · 08/02/2023 21:08

Yep it’s a lovely thread! And a few of us seem to have similar complications which helps in terms of solidarity and support. Just had a quick look at the NHS birth plan template, anyone heard of these ‘LDRP’ rooms?! First ive heard of them although they sound nice.

Aiming to walk to the beach tomorrow for a long stroll (it’s a 20 minute walk away) if the weather is nice, and keep up the gentle exercise 🤞🏻

Going to my friend’s for the weekend, last trip away from home before baby and I haven’t seen her in 6 months so will be lovely to catch up. Luckily she’s alcohol free at the moment as well!

iratepirate · 08/02/2023 21:04

@Perexi did you find NCT useful?

I mainly did it for a bit of a local social circle if I'm honest as all of our friends have older children but the lady running it was lovely and it was really informative (some bit's you need to take with a pinch of salt) but found it helpful especially the self advocate advice and not being afraid to ask all the questions rather than just going along with what is advised unless comfortable with it.

Noodle20 · 08/02/2023 21:27

@Choc2022 @ChristmasJumpers oh it's so reassuring to hear you're fed up with the GD diet too, I'm just 36 weeks and super fed up with it, I don't ever want to eat cheese again after this!!

allthingssparkly · 08/02/2023 21:28

I'm glad I'm not alone with the near end of pregnancy, exhaustion, nausea, waddling when walking and whatever else. I feel like I'm dealing with it all 😖😖

Not even got to the 37 week mark yet but so close!

It wont be long till we have our babies 🤍

ChristmasJumpers · 08/02/2023 21:30

@Noodle20 cheese is still my saving grace at the minute but wholemeal bread/wraps can get lost!!
Hand me the chocolates please 🙏

Noodle20 · 08/02/2023 21:38

@ChristmasJumpers ooh yes pls to chocolate and wine guns and apple juice and as much fruit as I can handle pls!! I def miss my fruit - who'd have thought I'd say that!!

iratepirate · 08/02/2023 21:47

All I eat is fruit. I’m SO glad that I’ve not been allocated a GD test.

@Perexi that sounds good- did you make some friends?
I was disappointed that our online classes didn’t really end up letting us connect with any of the others, but I guess that’s the nature of lockdown zooms. We all got dropped into a WhatsApp chat but it never really went any further than the birth announcements.

Rainbowbaby23 · 08/02/2023 21:50

Has anyone got any tips for fluid retention? Or am I stuck looking like a chipmunk until I give birth

They all seem nice and we went to the pub after the last session yesterday which was nice. We have a reunion session at a pub post birth too and we're going to have a mum's WhatsApp chat for those 3am moment's panic! We have a couple's group too that they set up which I think will be more active once we have baby's. We are all fairly localish to each other so hopefully we'll meet up a bit.

I think online must be really difficult as it's so difficult to make the transfer from functional class to chatting etc.

iratepirate · 08/02/2023 22:03

Yeah, it just didn’t really work over the screens, as we didn’t get any chance to actually talk to anyone else.
Haven’t bothered to look for any this time around tbh. I don’t feel as though I have enough time to keep up with my existing friends let alone trying to add more.

Apparently the apps like peanut are good which some friends have used for second baby's to have a bit of a network of people going through the same things.

I know what you mean and I don't have a baby yet!

havanamama · 08/02/2023 16:46

How did you get their Passport ready so quickly?!
I'm looking and it says it's minimum 6 weeks to get a passport

It was Northern Ireland and I think domestic travel didn’t need it at the time as it’s part of UK. It was 12 years ago tho so may have changed 🥴 xx

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 08/02/2023 22:24

@Perexi @iratepirate we had our first antenatal last night and I was gutted it was on zoom. No one spoke at all we just sat and listened to the midwife for 2 hours and then everyone went and that was it!

Choc2022 · 09/02/2023 01:12

@AGirlsNameIsAryaStark who is providing the antenatal classes? I've been told we don't have any just some recorded videos from the barcode on hospital file.

@Noodle20 no more wholemeal bread EVER!! I do sometimes sneak in a sweet treat (half a choc bar, a few sips of fizz) but only if I've been very active or pair it with some high fat/protein. Chocolates, fizz etc doesn't spike for me its the white carbs that are spike for me or large carb portions.

Cuppasoupmonster · 09/02/2023 05:24

Morning ladies 🥱 been awake since 4 with insomnia 😭 now just preparing myself for DD getting up so I can finally make a cup of coffee without waking her! She’s very snotty and now I feel very congested and have sneezed a few times so think I have come down with her cold 😐 I’m so hoping all these bugs are over by the time the baby is here!

Its a real shame about the online antenatal classes, I can see how it just isn’t the same. I really enjoyed mine back in 2019 and we have all kept in touch since, more like a couple of times a year now but for the first six months or so we met up quite a lot and it was nice to have that company. Try not to worry though, I also found newborn groups to be quite good for meeting people and getting out and about. Local parenting Facebook pages are usually a good source of info for that kind of thing.

Anyone got any scans next week…? Mines Tuesday, starting to get a bit nervous all over again. I think it’ll be the scan where they decide whether I can go to 38 weeks and what needs to happen so hoping all is fine.

iratepirate · 09/02/2023 05:45

I have one today but I don’t really know why I’m having them tbh. They didn’t know either when I went for the first one but she booked in a second so that they have something to compare growth with.
Not complaining as it’s nice to see baby again but I do feel bad in case I’m taking up an appointment which should be used for someone who needs it.

Blocklynn · 09/02/2023 07:05

I was told the free antenatal classes haven’t started again here yet. All the expensive ones have though.
I’m hoping I’ll find a nice baby class with people to talk to, but I’m not great at talking to new people so we’ll see.

Cats23 · 09/02/2023 07:40

33 weeks yesterday and another 5hrs monotoring for reduced movement (3rd time in 21 days) All is well but I have to travel to the hospital 1hr 10 away, I got home at 8 last night. So tired. I have protein +1 in urine, trace of blood and 2x flags for UTI... I feel fine just exhausted and yesterday, my first day off for a while, was meant to see me organise stuff at home and the usual tidy up..., didnt happen and it stressed me.out knowing how I hadnt the time to do it .
I have my pre planned monotoring and scan 3pm today too ( at the more local hospital 15mins away ) but this Am I have to take dc to get a filling at hospital and fit in 2hrs work somewhere🤣
So house will remain a bomb till tonight!

ChristmasJumpers · 09/02/2023 08:16

We don't have any free antenatal classes either, just a series of online videos to work through! I do know one other woman who is due in April but that's all! Hopefully I can find some more mum friends at a baby class or two.

Does anyone know if I'm likely to confuse baby by using the aptamil or kendal ready to feed bottles at the hospital, then using a different brand of formula and MAM bottles once were home? I don't want to create problems for myself with feeding!

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 09/02/2023 08:16

@Choc2022 they're free from our local hospital/NHS trust, don't get me wrong its nice to have them in some form as some people don't have them at all but it would have been nice to actually meet other local pregnant people

beatingheartbaby · 09/02/2023 08:26

The nhs in person classes have started back up for us but tbh there wasn't really any social interaction between any of us lol we all just attended and then left straight after. I'm hoping to get to some baby groups after she's here so meet some other parents that way.

LifeOfRiley1 · 09/02/2023 09:07

Just catching up! 34+2 here and like everyone else, really hitting a brick wall with the constant pelvic pain. Woken constantly by hip pain when sleeping and now beginning to struggle emotionally too. I’m so tired and sore and really struggling to put on a brave face at work! The fear of labour has also started kicking in.

on another note, has anyone any raspberry leaf tea recommendations (taste wise)? Going to start on this and eating dates this week, in an attempt to soften things up for labour!

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 09/02/2023 09:10

@LifeOfRiley1 i've seen people on tiktok make it and cool it, mix it with orange juice, cranberry juice and lemonade and its supposed to taste amazing!

Our hospital one's are still online too which is one of the reasons we paid for NCT but I didn't realise not all hospitals were back doing them!
