Finished my latest blanket, messed up the edges a bit (it doesn’t sit flat) but it’s going in the pram so when it’s wrapped around the baby I don’t think anyone will notice 😂

That's amazing @Blocklynn 😍

TeddyBeans · 07/02/2023 09:21

@Blocklynn it's lovely! I love the colour

@Cats23 not all scans are accurate, you might discover at the next one the growth hasn’t dropped. It’s very good you’ll have a weekly scan.

also remember you can also ask for a CS. There are pro and cons for both. At 37 weeks or earlier your body is unlikely to be ready for labour, and you’ll probably have a very painful experience and end up with assisted birth (forceps or CS). I wasn’t ready at 40 weeks, ended up with forceps. I will still try induction this time though, hoping 2nd time my body knows better, but not if it’s offered so early.

also read the nice guidelines for induction

direct pdf:

www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ng207/resources/inducing-labour-pdf-66143719773637

or you can download here, upper right corner:

www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ng207

they say to go for CS if there is growth restriction with fetal compromise, though I’m not sure what the last bit means exactly.

Babynum2 · 07/02/2023 11:22

I had my physio today and she said my left side of my pelvis has dropped and asked if I have ever been in an accident because this sort of thing is only seen if you had a car crash or fallen off a horse! Very strange.... she's given me a different type of belt and she stretched me out I got to go back in 2 weeks she's going to try and fix it for me thankfully but being pregnant isn't helping it.

Babynum2 · 07/02/2023 11:22

@Blocklynn that's so beautiful green is my favourite colour.

TeddyBeans · 07/02/2023 12:03

Little miss is on maximum wriggle duty today! My belly has not stopped moving since I sat down after dropping DS to school 😂

Not particularly reassuring when your midwife can’t feel if baby is head down or breech lol. She did say by where the heartbeat is she is probably still breech so could end up having a C-section

Cuppasoupmonster · 07/02/2023 12:06

I just had the same thing @Room4onemore back from my appointment and she couldn’t be certain where baby is lying although she ‘thinks’ he is head down as the bottom bit was more head shaped than the top bit which she said was squishier. So who knows 🤷🏼‍♀️ I said before getting on the bed that this pregnancy has been a nightmare and I think the final hurdle will be a breech baby 😂

Room4onemore · 07/02/2023 12:09

@Cuppasoupmonster no way lol, she said whatever was by my pelvis wasn’t engaged and moving round quite freely lol. How many weeks are you? I’m 34+4 and have a scan next week. She booked me in for a 38 week appointment and said if baby is breech she doesn’t expect to see me

TeddyBeans · 07/02/2023 12:09

I had this at (I think) 36 weeks last time. The midwife couldn't be sure so sent me off for a presentation scan (he was head down). Someone from DS's baby group had multiple scans, all of which were breech, but the midwife kept saying baby was head down. It wasn't until late on that she realised oh actually baby was breech and plans for a section were made pretty quickly! It's bonkers how similar a butt and a head can feel 😂

OP posts:
Room4onemore · 07/02/2023 12:10

At least a c section would be easier for me to sort the kids childcare out lol

Dreamingof3 · 07/02/2023 12:17

I have no idea how they tell tbh 😂 luckily I have another growth scan in a couple of weeks so will know then!

Speaking of....my next scan and consultant appt is early in the morning the day after my partner has a work event, which he'd be away overnight for so miss the appt. It's a standard appointment but it's the last one (theoretically) so things could change. I'll also be a couple of days away from 37 weeks so pretty close! I said I'm not 100% comfortable with him going and told him to decide if he'd rather go on his night out or come to the appointment with me 😂 waiting to see what he decides and then I'll choose how annoyed I'm going to be with him

I’m 32 on Friday so a little time to move if he is - going to start spinning babies exercises today just to help him along a bit. I’m more relaxed about a c section now my placenta has moved, I don’t mind a calm ELCS at all but I was a bit nervous when I thought the placenta would make it more complex. My scan is also next week, here’s hoping they’re both head down and behave!

beatingheartbaby · 07/02/2023 12:44

@Blocklynn aww very cute blanket for baby 🥰

@Room4onemore I am the same for a scan on 20th to check if she's still breech and if I'll want to elect for a section and honestly it's the thought of being able to sort out a dog sitter that's making me lean towards the cs 😂😂

muminlndn · 07/02/2023 12:59

@Room4onemore @Cuppasoupmonster Exactly the same here! My midwife had a feel for the first time last week and she said whatever baby is doing she's quite snuggled up and is glad we're having growth scans anyway to not rely on her feeling her position!
I'm 34+3 today and have been trying some spinning babies inversion positions but not convinced they'll do much. I also read babies tend to turn while you're sleeping (not sure how true this is though). Trying not to worry too much until 37 weeks and keeping my fingers crossed as I don't really want an ECV or ELCS...
Another scan in a few days but can definitely feel her head up by my belly button, much harder than a bum I think 😄. Then a final scan will be around 37 weeks before having to make a decision if still breech.

dmb91 · 07/02/2023 13:10

My last midwife appointment I was told she 'thinks' that baby 'might' be head down which doesn't fill me with confidence! She also said they're not bothered about babies position until 36 weeks.

Eastybaby19 · 07/02/2023 13:29

I'm 36+4 today and I seem to be getting waves of crazy amount of pressure & pain like around my bum, only place I can describe is half way down your but crack and right around 🤷‍♀️ sorry Im not very good at describing it! twice now I've had to sit on the toilet it feels as tho your extremely constipated & need to poop but I'm not I had diarrhoea yesterday and normal today I could barely walk and had to sit on the toilet though! Would this be baby "dropping"I was induced around tbis gestation with my 1st so never experienced this 🤦‍♀️

havanamama · 07/02/2023 13:40

I definitely feel like carrying a bowling ball in my pelvis/vagina, I wonder how it will feel when she drops further than the 2/5ths
I'm like a duck waddling around 😂

allthingssparkly · 07/02/2023 14:04

Have any ladies suffered with dizzy spells during their pregnancy? I've had a couple of small, short but sudden episodes since Saturday. Not something I've had earlier on in my pregnancy but my god, I felt slightly dizzy this morning after school run, then tired and now I've just woke up feeling like I've been hit by a bus 😬

Cats23 · 07/02/2023 14:19

@allthingssparkly , Only dizzy spell Ive had is a few times injecting my clexain and feeling the fluid run- yuck!
@Blocklynn love the blanket
@Eastybaby19 yes felt like that yesterday but also I was constipated- not great

Thanks all messages re csect, I have a routine midwife appt tomorrow so will ask more re elective and sterlisation

Blocklynn · 07/02/2023 15:54

@Dreamingof3 hope he makes the right decision 🙈
My husband works away for work sometimes and we have discussed that from the end of the month we don’t think he should be away, I’ll be around 37 weeks then.

@allthingssparkly I did earlier on, but only really when I bent down, great fun when on a dog walk trying to pick up poop 😂

Baby being breech isn’t something I’d really thought of, last scan baby was head down at 32 weeks but with their back to my side.

havanamama · 07/02/2023 16:15

For those that have partners - how long are you both going to be on leave initially?

My husband will be on paternity leave for 3 weeks, but then Easter beak is just around the corner and 3 long weekends in May, which will be good.

Cuppasoupmonster · 07/02/2023 16:38

DH will get 2 weeks paternity leave, which he will start when we get home from the hospital. Last time he started it the day DD was born so we only ended up having a few days at the end at home all together, because of a long hospital stay. I’m hoping he can take the day of her birth as annual leave (bit last minute but they’re usually accommodating) then just evening visits until we get discharged. DD being at home means he will need to do nursery pick ups and drop off anyway, but once we’re home we’re going to keep her off for a few days to spend time as a 4.

Has anyone been booked in for a birth plan meeting? I didn’t have one last time, is it helpful in any way or do we just write a few things down for them to be ignored at the hospital? 😂

Franklin321 · 07/02/2023 16:44

Husband only taking 1 week of leave, unfortunately he’s self employed so we can’t afford much more!

It does keep me awake at night thinking about managing a toddler with new baby after a section 😬 but luckily we have a good support system of friends and family to come help out for a few weeks!
