Morning ladies, what is the best thing I can take for a cough? Cause get it lovingly from my 4 year old 🙄

Unless it’s really painful I would stick with honey and lemon (1 tablespoon honey and a good squirt of lemon juice) - I mainlined it when I had a cold in second trimester!

@Blocklynn me too 😳 however I started eating dates a week or two ago and they seem to be keeping me regular! Plus lots of water. Should also give you a shorter pushing stage so that’s a plus 😊 I haven’t taken any meds, I take so many necessary ones for the pregnancy and diabetes I steer clear of anything over the counter just for personal preference.

The only medicine I've found that doesn't give you a million and one warnings about being pregnant is guaifenesin - it's usually the supermarket own brand cough medicine so a bit cheaper which is nice

@Blocklynn I took lactulose post birth last time to soften everything up for the first after birth poop, they gave it in hospital while I was in labour so it must be okay to take during pregnancy

Today is going to be about clearing our dining room of junk ☹️ we put a load in there to tidy the rest of the house for its listing photos (it’s going up for sale) so now need to sort through it so we can use the dining table again. Think there will be a couple of tip runs for DH!

It’s quite sunny here so also going to take the dog to the woods, I find a bit of fresh air blows away the pregnant lady grumpiness that I’m definitely getting 😆

Then promised to make DH’s favourite chicken in olives thing for dinner 🤤

I feel like my bump size has plateaued a bit, has anyone else had this? Reason to worry or just things settling down after a second trimester huge growth spurt? 🤔

TeddyBeans · 05/02/2023 10:37

@Cuppasoupmonster hope your day is productive! Sounds like it should be 😁 I do like a walk but my hips can't hack more than 10 minutes at a snails pace at the moment. I don't know about bump size tbh, mine looks small to me but everyone else says I'm massive so I have no idea 😂

OP posts:
Perexi · 05/02/2023 11:20

I feel massive bump wise although I know it's not for date's its all in my head!

I have a friend's birthday today and it's one of those social sporty things.....so I will be attempting to hit a cricket ball apparently which will either be fine or a disaster !

Does anyone else get random painful one off hiccups? Literally just one hiccup then nothing! I get them so much but I never have before pregnancy

My bump hasn’t really grown in size 29 weeks but baby has. Baby is plotting well above the whole percentile chart atm according to scans. Sooo odd as my bump hasn’t grown for weeks. 35 weeks now.
So I wouldn’t worry my midwife has stopped measuring my bump as she thinks baby is just very snug and said ultrasound is more accurate and he’s grown on there so not to worry about my bump growth 😄 I am however dubious about all bump measuring and even ultrasounds as last preg I was told 5lb baby and he was 8lb 🤷🏼‍♀️ as long as still feeling movements as normal I guess we’ve got to try not to worry xx

havanamama · 05/02/2023 13:14

My bump is definitely growing as the stretch marks are growing by day too.

I started my morning by finishing a first time parents book whilst sipping on the Final Push tea (it tastes like peppermint) and eating dates 😂

It's the last week on aspirin too, which is nice!

Going on a date today and excited for Valentine's in 2 weeks - I read advice to go on as many dates as possible before baby, so when it will be the first couple of months without much alone time, then at least the last dates won't feel that long ago 🤞

Dreamingof3 · 05/02/2023 13:36

I feel absolutely huge some days and then wonder where the baby is hiding on others! I also don't think it helps that I was overweight anyway so I struggle to feel anything other than just 'fat'

iratepirate · 05/02/2023 13:53

Wondering about getting a yoga ball for when I’m sitting at my desk as I’m getting a little pain sometimes after running or longer walks. (I think it’s PGP, which tbh was a lot worse in all previous pregnancies, so I really do feel lucky this time around).

I feel absolutely huge. Hard to judge tbh as I avoid mirrors and don’t take photos. Still struggling to eat much due to sickness, so I’m just finding I’m feeling quite exhausted these days. Sleeping is still not great.

We went for a nice long walk this morning though, through the woods. Being outside definitely brings the calm.

allthingssparkly · 05/02/2023 15:22

Aw happy term date @TeddyBeans 🥳 hopefully not long to go 🤞

Praying baby is no longer breech when I go for my scan tomorrow 🙏 and that will mark 36 weeks for me and could be my final scan which is crazy to think 🥺🥺 x

havanamama · 05/02/2023 19:14

I've got a delayed midwife appointment tomorrow - the 34 week one although I'm in week 36 now. I wonder if she will ask me to come in again in a few days or would I just come back at 38 weeks?

Also struggling to differentiate gas and Braxton Hicks. How do you tell the difference?

TeddyBeans · 05/02/2023 19:29

@allthingssparkly fingers crossed for you! 🤞🤞

@havanamama they'll probably just smush 34 and 36 week appointments together and not see you again til 38 weeks tbh. Braxton hicks makes my whole bump go solid, not sure if gas does the same

Probably just 38 weeks!

Gas moves around painfully, Braxton Hicks for me are very tight all across the bump especially the lower part and make me feel quite breathless.

I can feel babies head very distinctly now, so weird to know it's a nearly fully grown baby! Just a shame her head is up to the left of my belly button, hoping she'll turn soon...

Cuppasoupmonster · 05/02/2023 19:35

Where do you all feel kicks when baby is head down?

TeddyBeans · 05/02/2023 19:54

@Cuppasoupmonster anywhere from the belly button up depending if she has her legs stretched out or tucked in. My midwife showed me how to feel for her bum too so I can sometimes work out which way she's facing but I don't trust myself to say for sure 😂

OP posts:
TeddyBeans · 05/02/2023 20:10

She has a wonderful habit of punching me in the perineum though... Just as an aside 😂

OP posts:
beatingheartbaby · 05/02/2023 20:31

Talking of perineums lol has anyone tried the massage? I started today and it made me feel sick haha so I don't know how I'm gonna keep it up. I probs did it for about 10 seconds on each side today lol couldn't take any more

Pickles23 · 05/02/2023 21:01

@beatingheartbaby ha I tried for the first time last night! It was OK... A bit uncomfortable but manageable, but maybe I didn't try that hard as it was my first time. I closed my eyes and took some deep breaths and counted for a while. I had also just had a bath so maybe that had helped?

TeddyBeans · 05/02/2023 21:10

I haven't bothered, I tore last time and I can already feel the skin there is stretched so am likely to tear again regardless. Just hope whoever stitches me up does a good job cuz it grazes every time I have sex and is subsequently uncomfortable for days

OP posts:
Babynum2 · 05/02/2023 21:16

I tore from front to back first baby and then didn't tear at all second time so you might be OK @TeddyBeans fingers crossed!

I feeel my kicks In the middle of my stomach because baby is back to back he sometimes pushes against my belly and then I can feel his going deeper into my pelvis

TeddyBeans · 05/02/2023 21:27

@Babynum2 😱😱😱😱 you poor thing! I'm so pleased you didn't have to go through it a second time! I hope I don't but it would be nice to have the opportunity to fix the previous attempt at stitching me up 🤔

OP posts:
Babynum2 · 05/02/2023 21:32

@TeddyBeans its like a car crash down there for me🤣 like I said I tore front to back and then a week later I got up to quick and re tore them! I remember the whole way through my second birth I kept asking them do I need stitches I was petrified! So glad second time I didn't need them. I don't think my body was ready to have a baby the first time being so young.

TeddyBeans · 05/02/2023 21:38

@Babynum2 oh noooo 😱 tearing my stitches was literally my biggest fear for weeks after I had DS and mine was only a little tear 😭 I can't imagine what you went through!

OP posts:
Rainbowbaby23 · 05/02/2023 22:22

How soon did use start the perineal massages? Scared to try🤣
