I think I read to start the perineal massage at 34 weeks, that’s Friday for me 👀
Not sure I’ll be able to reach 😂

BabyLimey · 06/02/2023 08:02

I’ve only done it a couple of times and I’m about to turn 36 weeks. Deffo not the nicest but like one of the other posters said, if you relax and take deep breaths it makes it a lot easier. Not 100% convinced it’s gonna help but would rather know I tried!

Perexi · 06/02/2023 08:47

Just had my NHS growth scan....glad I hadn't got too excited about placenta moving after the 4d scan because it hasn't! One more scan to go for it to move although hasn't moved at all in the last month!

Cuppasoupmonster · 06/02/2023 08:49

Oh Perexi that’s so annoying! I’m sorry to hear that. How are you feeling?

havanamama · 06/02/2023 09:23

Good morning!

Isn't February just flying by?!

I've got my midwife appointment today, and finishing Aspirin on Thursday, and will be in the final premature week from Friday! ☺️ feels like a lot of little milestones.

Going to fit the car seat and base this weekend too and some final nursery touches - the Ikea spice rack hack haha

I'm not sure if it's the Final Push tea or dates but I have been feeling the belly tightening more often

I'm pretty chilled about it tbh I struggled to believe the 4d guy that it had moved so much but genuinely just assumed it would move, 🤣 so was a bit surprised! Trust me to be the 1 in 10! Seems like from reading it's less likely to move now so I'm preparing a list of questions for the midwife next week as I don't see the consultant until 39+1 and I assume the section needs to be a bit before that!

But I trust the doctor's to do what's needed and best for us both! I'm 32+5 today and the little chunk had lots of hair and is 2.1kg (4lb10) and apparently happy and healthy in there which is great 🥰

Mrs2022 · 06/02/2023 10:33

@Perexi I'm 1 in 10 too. Placenta is still love and completely covering os. I had to go for an mri last week to check for accreta, have another week to wait to see consultant for the results. 😬😬

Eastybaby19 · 06/02/2023 10:42

Can't believe how close some of us are to our due dates!! I'm 37 weeks this week can't believe it have my consultant appt on Thursday that I have to make my final decision if I wanna book section or try vbac! Leaning towards booking section as my experience was so rough last time a planned section may be what we need as I'm starting to get scared!! 🙈🙈

Oh yikes good luck! I just had to Google that, I hope you don't have that and it's good news at the appointment next week. I have everything crossed for you! Mine isn't covering but close and hasn't moved in the last month and apparently the position means it's less likely too.

Mrs2022 · 06/02/2023 11:06

@perexi mine was the same hadn't moved from my 20 week scan and same at 28 and 32. I'm 33 now and was always going to be a section anyway as my last two were sections just scary with the added risks and possibility of a bigger operation. 🙈 when is your next appointment maybe if it even moved a couple of months it would help

Dreamingof3 · 06/02/2023 11:06

My partner was away with work last night and I spent the whole night awake with what I'm assuming we're Braxton Hicks 😬 all died down by abou 6 and then had to get up and sort the other 2 for school! Definitely having a nap today!

Babynum2 · 06/02/2023 11:18

@Dreamingof3 I to need a nap i was up at 4 with bad belly stuck to the toilet. I don't know how I've hardly eaten anything for days! Kids are at nursery/school right now so making the most of it.

Cuppasoupmonster · 06/02/2023 11:23

@Perexi thats a really good way to look at it. In a way the waiting is the worst bit, having a solid plan and knowing what’s happening always makes me feel a bit better. All being well my induction date will be set next week. Sounds like your little man is growing away nicely in there! I’ll be interested to see what mine weighs at the next scan, he was 3lb1 at 28+4 so hoping he’s tracking along nicely.

Cuppasoupmonster · 06/02/2023 11:24

In other news I was sick this morning for the first time since about 22 weeks 🙄 really hope this isn’t the HG starting up again, it felt exactly the same 😢

havanamama · 06/02/2023 11:36

I'm 35+4 days and 2/5ths engaged today! Midwife was happy with everything.

Is this an average position for the gestational age? Or does this mean f all and she could be at 2/5th for a while until further engagement?

havanamama · 06/02/2023 11:37

I always think I've asked her all my questions until I come home lol 😂

Deut28 · 06/02/2023 12:06

@havanamama Sounds positive but not sure it's any guarantee or reliable predictor for anything. Some babies don't engage until labour, especially subsequent babies.

Perexi · 06/02/2023 12:13

I thought it was around 36 weeks but I forgot the midwife cancelled it! It's not till 38+5 which is too late so I have emailed the midwife team to ask them to bring forward if possible. I think it needs another cm to be deemed ok so not exactly huge but we'll see.

I guess at least that means your plans are the same so you can prepare for it mentally and fingers crossed it will be smooth sailing!

TeddyBeans · 06/02/2023 13:20

@Perexi sorry to hear that ☹️ at least you know for sure what you're dealing with now

@Eastybaby19 it's really weird how close it's getting - I was offered a sweep for two weeks time (39 weeks) as that's a thing in my trust now apparently. It does not feel like I will be 39 weeks pregnant in two weeks 😱

@Dreamingof3 hope you managed to get some rest while the kids were at school

@Cuppasoupmonster hope the sickness is a one off 🤞🤞

@havanamama 2/5ths is good! I don't think first babies tend to float out again so that's something

OP posts:
havanamama · 06/02/2023 13:58

I was told I will get a sweep at my 40 week midwife appointment, then then at 41, and if nothing happens then induced at 41+3

Mad how different it all is depending on where in the country you are!

Rainbowbaby23 · 06/02/2023 14:31

Having lots of shooting fanjo pains🤣🤣🤣hopefully means baby is starting to engage lol

beatingheartbaby · 06/02/2023 14:45

Someone on the Glasgow mums Facebook group just asked if 35 is too old and risky to have a second baby 😩 way to make me feel great, I'm 35 having my first haha. Luckily all the comments were in agreement that is it in fact not too old 😂

allthingssparkly · 06/02/2023 14:57

Baby is head down 🥳

Weighing approx 6lbs1oz, so not 100% where the consultant expected him to be on the chart, however not too much of a drop to be concerned about an early delivery.

Booked for a scan in 2 weeks time unless he arrives before then!

My braxton hicks are becoming more and more frequent, has anyone else noticed this?

beatingheartbaby · 06/02/2023 15:07

Woohoo @allthingssparkly that's great. I don't think I've had braxton hicks...yet lol

TeddyBeans · 06/02/2023 15:08

@beatingheartbaby the cheek of it! You see so many people not even starting to think about having families until they're closer to 40 nowadays. 35 is definitely not too young for a second or even a first for a growing majority of people

@allthingssparkly excellent news! Yes I'm getting BH much more frequently now than say two weeks ago. It's definitely ramping up
