@TeddyBeans @Cuppasoupmonster Gosh I wish my DH could understand my agony. He is very attached to his family and feel guilty living so far away from them.

His sister is the one suggesting this and it will be the first time she, her fiance, and their toddler visiting us too. She’s saying she understands how up in the air any plan would be and suggests booking a free cancellation accommodation now. I check on booking.com and the latest most of them allow cancellation is a week prior. Still I dread the idea urggg

Franklin321 · 29/01/2023 14:50

My son was a Covid baby so born a few days before a lockdown and we were very isolated which was so difficult. I’m looking forward to having visitors this time round although all within reason and luckily both sets of grandparents/wider family/friends are all very helpful and never over step the mark!

iratepirate · 29/01/2023 15:43

I am dreading visitors. Because of lockdowns last time we didn’t see any visitors for months, which was wonderful tbh. Gave us chance to get into a routine before we started back to juggling work etc.

Perexi · 29/01/2023 16:12

We use fairy non bio to wash our clothes anyway but do I need to worry about what fabric softener I use on the clothes he wears?

Visiting wise we are both on the same page - first few days will just be us and maybe close family popping in for short bursts - like a cuddle and a coffee but that's it. Both my mum and partners mum have offered to help us get used to life staying over to help if needed but we have said maybe later on once partner back at work etc but he WFH anyway so hopefully not needed.

TeddyBeans · 29/01/2023 16:33

@Perexi nah softeners are basically all the same. If they develop sensitive skin then you can switch to sensitive but I don't know what they do to make it different though

Visitor wise we have agreed to text family when baby is born that we will let them know when we are ready for visitors.

Awesome thanks that's what I wanted to hear 😂

Just set up the snuzpod were borrowing from a friend and bought the new mattress.... thing's are feeling very real now 🤯

Babynum2 · 29/01/2023 18:18

I just done the same @TeddyBeans both bumps are boys at 34 weeks I was much bigger with my girl. Your bump looks more round this time! It's 4 years difference between my 2 pics so I imagen my body has changed in that time anyway!

I'm planning on spending the first week in bed (so no visitors), the second week on the sofa. Last time I found the recovery from a three-day labour plus stitches plus bleeding really grim. Was also half-dressed most of the time doing skin to skin and breastfeeding round the clock. It was lockdown so no one had a choice, but I'll be trying to recreate it this time too! PIL live abroad and have been talked down from coming for the birth because we don't have space/energy to host. They absolutely would say they're coming to help and then create more work. They'll come a few months in once we've found our feet a bit.

Rose429 · 29/01/2023 21:05

@Deut28 My parents live abroad and was talking about my mum coming over for a month to help, but I said no due to the lack of space as well. My PIL also said they would come down for 2 weeks to help once my DH goes back to work, but I’m just not comfortable with the idea. Somehow I definitely more comfortable with my own mother seeing me no bras, breastfeeding and so on but definitely not PIL.

ChristmasJumpers · 29/01/2023 21:48

Such beautiful bumps!! Mine feels quite small in comparison but it's nice to see how different we all are (and I'm only 31+3 weeks).

Regarding visitors, nobody has really said much about it to us so far but I have a lots of family within walking distance or a less than 5 minute drive away, so it's possible they might just 'drop by'. Once we announce that she's born, we'll be asking people to call/text before coming over so we can say yes or no. I do think I'll be happy to have visitors but on my terms while we get into a routine and I recover.

I think the hardest to fend off will be my mum as its her first grandchild and we both tend to take our chances and visit spontaneously at the moment (she's so close by that there's nothing lost if she or I aren't home at the time)

ChristmasJumpers · 29/01/2023 22:09

Got seriously down in the dumps today as yet again we've failed to finish even prepping the nursery walls ready to paint! But I have thoroughly cheered myself up by packing my hospital bag 💕 just my things for now, baby's clothes and blankets still need to be washed (once the nursery is done so I can put them away properly). I'm definitely nesting, I have to be doing something to prep for baby's arrival!

havanamama · 29/01/2023 23:15

My bump has definitely dropped. Looked at pictures from a couple of weeks ago and it was round and pointy and now it's all bottom heavy, and others have noticed too.

I've been weepy too, which I've not been at all in pregnancy, and colostrum has started to come.

Having a little omg is baby coming soon?!?! Moment 😄

Cats23 · 30/01/2023 06:46

Gorgeous bumps! Apart from my first, Ive always been massive bump wise, Ive always been overweight though, Ive also got a horrid ' Skin flap' bottom of stomach and its unoccupied this time so looks awful imo.

Oh with regards to family visists ect, put your foot down, Im quite lucky my family and Dp's wait to be invited over ( usually a day or so after for my parents and Dps a week later as live a few hrs away)
Im starting to panic a bit that a few areas of my home arnt organised enough yet so not much planning on where the baby clothes are going ect All washed in a big bag at mo! We are waiting on local carpenter to add extra shelving to wardrobes ect too.
Ive got to collect moses basket from my Brother this week and order new matress, will feel better once thats here.
Last few days Ive felt 'Heavy' and short of breath too, baby is pushing in all sorts of odd positions which is uncomfy.
Im still only approaching 33 weeks!

And exciting news, Just put deposit on our wedding date for next year down, so will need to be getting rid of the stomach flap Asap!!!!
Willow the puppy came home yesterday, partner slept downstairs with her so Ive had the bed to myself..., except when DD5 snuck in at 3am realising half the bed was empty and free for her haha!

Im also really considring being sterelized (5x babies is quite enough!) Is it worth asking for a csect so it can be done same time as delivery??

dmb91 · 30/01/2023 08:31

My FIL normally visits the first Thursday of every month, due date 27/3 so I'm either gonna be overdue and grumpy or have a newborn in April. I've told DP that I don't want FIL visiting that soon as I'll likely still be trying to establish breastfeeding etc. He hasn't mentioned anything to FIL though, he's a strange man and will be very offended! DP is struggling to understand why I'd be ok with my parents coming and MIL coming (who we see all the time and I'm much more comfortable around) but not FIL.
FIL wasn't around when his own boys were little so we are thinking the baby stage might scare him off a bit anyway 🤷‍♀️

Room4onemore · 30/01/2023 08:37

@Cats23 i want to be sterilised so I’m asking tomorrow when I go

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 30/01/2023 08:50

Has anyone else started to suffer with carpal tunnel later in their pregnancy? In the last few days i've woken up with really painful hands, google suggests its carpal tunnel from the extra fluid (which would make sense as my hands have definitely started to swell!) but wondered if anyone has found a remedy?

beatingheartbaby · 30/01/2023 09:36

@AGirlsNameIsAryaStark I've got this now too and I'm wondering if it's because of the way I'm sleeping sometimes I was waking up with pins and needles in my hands too and they are now feeling really bruised. I self referred to physio for hip and hand pain lol but my appt isn't until weds next week so will let you know if they give me anything useful lol.

allthingssparkly · 30/01/2023 09:41

Morning ladies!

How are we all?

35 weeks today for me, have my scan in a week and praying baby is no longer breech 🙏🙏

👶🏼👣👶🏼

iratepirate · 30/01/2023 09:45

Hi @allthingssparkly Fingers crossed for your scan.

All good here really, although PGP starting to be a bit of a problem, so this morning’s run was a lot slower than usual. 😫

TeddyBeans · 30/01/2023 09:46

@allthingssparkly morning 😊 all good here, just had my 36 week midwife appointment. Trace glucose but nothing else 🥳 BP is also low/normal.

Just out of curiosity - would you consider a natural breech birth? Hope baby's turned for you either way!

OP posts:
havanamama · 30/01/2023 10:05

@AGirlsNameIsAryaStark I have this for the past month or so.
What helps for me is to cut down on sodium, especially in the evenings, sleeping with hands out of the duvet so they don't get more swollen in the warmer temperature, and washing hands with ice cold water when I go for a wee million times a night 😄

Cuppasoupmonster · 30/01/2023 10:05

@allthingssparkly fingers crossed, have you tried spinning babies?

DD came down with a temperature/cold thing last night, off work today to look after her. Currently watching her take her toys temperatures with the thermometer, she’s putting on a weird voice pretending to be them saying ‘no no I don’t want my temperature taken!’ Then she says ‘you have to otherwise you will get poorly, now sit still’ 😬

allthingssparkly · 30/01/2023 10:08

Oh no @iratepirate sorry to hear your suffering with PGP, I have been lucky in my pregnancies to not suffer with that but I've heard how uncomfortable and painful it can be! Hope it eases for you 🤞

Hey @TeddyBeans glad all is well 😊 the midwife said there would be no option of a natural breech birth because baby is footling breech, if his positioning was frank breech then I would be able to be considered for a natural breech delivery. So it's either a c-section or I get lucky and he flips back head down so I can hopefully go in to spontaneous labour with minimal intervention 🤞
