How many weeks were you? Feel like all the birth stories I see online are c-sections and inductions. Curious what it's like for people who just go into labour at home one day (obv hoping this happens to me at some point before 40 weeks!)

Interesting thread to read. Im 39+2 and already the induction talk has started. I think it must be due to NHS and how busy they are so they want to control numbers in. Pretty much everyone i know currently pregnant is being booked for induction soon as they hit 40 weeks.

This is really sad. I had a baby in 2021, induction was only mentioned in passing at about 40+5 but only in a ‘you might want to have a read about it and see what you think’ kind of way.

They mentioned that if I was included before 40+10 then there was a chance I could give birth in the birth centre rather than on the ward which would be the case if I was induced after 40+14.

There was absolutely no pressure and so I felt quite calm. I knew baby would come when they were ready. And he did!

39+3 with my first. Contractions started about 11:30pm and I had him naturally at 12:35pm the next day. Established labour was 6 hours.

Now pregnant with second and hoping for a similar experience, as I'm 38 weeks and fed up already 😅

BrutusMcDogface · 21/01/2023 11:17

My second was my latest at 40+8!

cravingtoblerone · 21/01/2023 11:37

38+5. Lying in bed and waters just popped. Contractions started about 30 mins later. DS born about 13 hours later.

mummyh2016 · 21/01/2023 11:55

37+6 and DD was born the following day. Then with DS 38+2, he was here within 3 hours.
I think my babies must get to the 38 week mark and think I'm getting out of here!

Doowop1919 · 21/01/2023 12:27

I'm 38+2 today with my second so this thread has been an interesting read!
I was induced in the evening at 37+2 with my first due to preeclampsia (so was happy to be induced for that - my BP was sky high) and he arrived very quickly... A 4 and a half hour labour. This time, my BP is behaving so looks like I'll go naturally. Seems from most of the answers I'll be waiting until 39-41 weeks though! 😅

As others have said op, no need to agree to an induction if there's no medical need. Don't feel pressured

38+3 and I noticed my mucus plug starting to come away. Within 24 hours my waters had broken (just a slow trickle that I wasn’t sure about at first - nothing dramatic). Contractions started around 12 hours after that.

milawops · 21/01/2023 14:11

37+4 sat on the sofa minding my own business watching the Big Bang theory and my waters went.

41+6 and 40+2. Both times went in to labour the night before planned inductions! I didn't want an induction really so I was pretty grateful to my body for pulling it's finger out and getting on with it!

Really interesting reading this! Currently 39+1 and fed up. Went to 42+2 with eldest, was induced and was nowhere near natural labour even then.

Booked for induction at 41 weeks this time (due to medical issues caused by first being so late and massive) but obviously extremely keen to go naturally before that!

Mommabear20 · 21/01/2023 15:50

Contractions started at 39+1 and he was born at 39+2. He was my 2nd, 1st and 3rd were inductions.

QueenLagertha · 21/01/2023 15:51

Spontaneous labour both times at 37 weeks. Both started with the movie style gush of waters breaking
