How many weeks were you? Feel like all the birth stories I see online are c-sections and inductions. Curious what it's like for people who just go into labour at home one day (obv hoping this happens to me at some point before 40 weeks!)

First baby and my waters went at 39+6 at 10am, I stayed home after having been to the hospital to have it confirmed my waters had gone, by 8pm I was 7cm and was admitted to the midwife led unit and my baby was born at 12.29am at 40 weeks

Exactfare · 21/01/2023 08:40

39 + 5 (when born it was a 3 day labour! So 35 + 2/3 when it started I suppose)
37
38

For 2 and 3 my waters went before anything else happened, waters had to be broken for no 1

In my experience you are either early or late and it's the same pattern for every pregnancy. I couldn't have coped being 41 weeks pregnant!

Squaffle · 21/01/2023 08:42

41 weeks, baby was so high up that the midwife said no point in a sweep and would definitely need an induction, went from napping on the sofa to waters breaking to DD being born 6 hours later!

BatshitCrazyWoman · 21/01/2023 08:42

39+6
41+3 I was booked in for an induction at 42 weeks. I had what I thought were Braxton Hicks but went to hospital anyway, really hoping to avoid that induction 😂 and was holding my baby a couple of hours later. He didn't hang about once he'd decided to make an appearance!

Morning of due date, lying in bed, waters went…

The wasn’t as textbook but I was amused by the fact contractions started bang on due date!

lljkk · 21/01/2023 08:44

39, 40+2, 40+5, 41+3

goldpendant · 21/01/2023 08:44

*the rest wasn’t textbook

PumpkinsMum18 · 21/01/2023 08:46

41+6 - they usually book in for induction for 41+5 but I declined! Planned a home birth and glad I got it 😊

OldTinHat · 21/01/2023 08:49

Bang on due date and second was 38+2.

EveryLittleWish · 21/01/2023 08:51

Both of mine were spontaneous.

My first was 37 weeks exactly and I was still working ( not when I went into labour ) as I was expecting to go two weeks past my due date like everyone else in my family. ha . My waters broke at 1am in bed with a giant gush. I was shocked . Anyway , started contractions 3 hours later.

With my second pregnancy I was expecting it to be similar to my first aaaaaaaand… It WAS haha! At 38 weeks my waters broke with a gush in bed and exactly 3 hours later my contractions started!!!

Between my mom and sisters ( and 8 labours ) they all had identical labours: 2 weeks past their due date , started off as light cramping and slowly got worse until it was definitely labour .I was the odd one out . It goes to show that you really can’t predict what your labour will be like .

41+2 according to the hospital dates which they knew were wrong but refused to change Confused

40+3 according to the dates on the scans. I was in a restaurant and we had to get home quick. Luckily we did as DS arrived only 3 hrs and 20 mins after the first twinge.

Workawayxx · 21/01/2023 08:54

40 weeks exactly for DC1
slowly going into labour with DC2 at 41 weeks but they induced me at the same time as I was over 40

Lou670 · 21/01/2023 08:54

First born due date
Second born 5 days early

Akite · 21/01/2023 08:55

40+4
40+18 !

Fortuny · 21/01/2023 08:55

38+6 - the day before my booked induction due to preeclampsia. Had sat on my birthing ball and practiced my tens machine application the night before in prep for the induction, not sure if that helped.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 21/01/2023 08:55

I did with our second.

waters broke about 4am on my edd when I got up for a wee, I was checked over by the hospital that morning and told to go back the day day if nothing had happened
contractions started early afternoon. We left for hospital at about 4pm dropping dc1 off to il’s. Ds was born at 5pm, 3 contractions after arriving on the ward!

couldn’t have been more different to dc1 who was induced at 42+3!

good luck op

Beginningless · 21/01/2023 08:56

Started to labour on due date, but stop start so born 40+2.
second time mild contractions for a week before finally born in a very quick labour at 40+13 an hour before I was due to go and get induced.

41+5 and 40+5 I think

Imho it would be better if we spoke about a full term window or something, babies don't ping like microwaves at 40 weeks! I think full term is 38-42 weeks. Some countries calculate 'due dates' at 41 weeks I think

I so agree with this. A full term window would be better.

For me
41 weeks
40+6
His due date (arrived 2 hours 13 mins late )
41+3 Omg the pressure I had to agree to induction.

No 2 and 4 were home births.
all my babies were around the 7lb4-6 oz they just take a little time to cook.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 21/01/2023 08:58

38 + 5 and then 39 weeks exactly. The vast majority of my friends were at least 41 weeks though.

BigPurpleArm · 21/01/2023 08:58

Started going into labor on my due date with both DC.

DC 1 labour took a painful 3 days so he was actually born 3 days after due date

DC 2 I went into labor with my first contraction at 11.00pm on my due date and he was born a swift 2 hours later (technically born the day after his due date)

Soubriquet · 21/01/2023 08:59

38+4
37+3

anon2022anon · 21/01/2023 09:00

41+3. Spent the day 41+2 crying and vomiting (not a virus, my body just was getting ready I guess)

Skyeheather · 21/01/2023 09:00

39+4 and 39 (both times in the middle of the night).

Notjusta · 21/01/2023 09:01

40+2
39+3 (I think - definitely a few days early)

Both very similar - contractions started in the morning, baby arrived by tea time. 2nd time was a few hours faster than the first. Both born at home.
