How many weeks were you? Feel like all the birth stories I see online are c-sections and inductions. Curious what it's like for people who just go into labour at home one day (obv hoping this happens to me at some point before 40 weeks!)

All of my vaginal births were spontaneous and after the due date. I was so fed up with waiting and feeling like a beached whale!

38, 37 & 38 weeks.
2nd baby knew all day the day before he was born I was going into Labour. Kept telling everyone he’d be here tomorrow and nobody believed me.

SpaceChocolatel · 21/01/2023 08:01

37 +5, waters broke, contractions started about 3 hours later and then 6 hours until baby was born. Small episiotomy and tear which healed fine, wasn't as scary as I feared. currently 34 weeks with my second now, and hope all goes as smoothly this time too.

I was going through a stressful life event at the time which maybe sped things along but also did raspberry leaf tea, dates, yoga etc... Maybe that helped, maybe it didn't. Good luck!

Both of mine, I'd lost my mucus plug then waters broke on the toilet, luckily, the following day. Dd1 37+3, dd2 38+5. Dd1 was 5 hours from waters breaking to birth, dd2 was 2 hours. Very glad not to have had to have an induction or c section. We'd also had a quickie the day before with both so my anecdotal evidence is that sex brings on labour!

Betsyboo87 · 21/01/2023 08:04

40+1. Took me a couple of hours to believe it was happening.

QueenofLouisiana · 21/01/2023 08:07

40+6, hind waters broke spontaneously at 40+4, so I was due to go in for induction as there was a risk of infection. Most of the ladies in hospital with me (kept in a while due to that same risk of infection) had an induction-free birth, you just don’t read about it much online.

Squamata · 21/01/2023 08:07

41+5 and 40+5 I think

Imho it would be better if we spoke about a full term window or something, babies don't ping like microwaves at 40 weeks! I think full term is 38-42 weeks. Some countries calculate 'due dates' at 41 weeks I think

DaisyWaldron · 21/01/2023 08:07

DC1 38 weeks
DC2 37 weeks.

Both straightforward home births.

Chasingsquirrels · 21/01/2023 08:09
