Well this is scary! You’d think after 2 children already I’d know the signs! But nope! Only just found out in preg and going from last time me and hubby done the deed I’d be 30 weeks! Got to get onto midwife’s tomorrow morning and get a scan booked asap! Somehow find a way of telling the hubby and other kids and the rest of the family! I didn’t plan any more kids but obviously this 1 had other ideas! Oh and I was on the 12 week depo jab!

I genuinely don't understand how this can happen.

Aren't you showing? Couldn't you feel him/her moving?

By 30 weeks I could see the outline of a foot pressing up on my stomach. I could feel when he had hiccups.

What did you think all that was?

I’m a plus size lady, didn’t show with my 2nd till about 30 odd weeks, I felt what I thought was phantom kicks, had them for years after having my first born so didn’t really think too much, but they became much more…. Intense… never had sickness with either of my other 2, I’m quite lucky in pregnancy that I don’t have many bad symptoms, had a bad back for many years after a fall so I put that down to a heaven nearly 2 year old always wanting mummy.

God I would be devastated if this was me 😂

Have you told your husband yet? Can't wait to hear his reaction.

Have you thought about how you'll manage financially etc?

Good luck OP - that's wild. I hope it goes well!

He’s not home from work yet (should be in the next half hour) financially it will be harder of course another mouth to feed, but I’m gonna try to Breastfeed to save some pennies that way, we don’t need an awful lot of stuff still have a few things from when our son was a baby x

Congratulations! We found out about DC3 at 18 weeks so not so late as you. But I can completely understand the writing off of signs and symptoms especially when you are already running round after other small people.

DC3 is now 23 and about to graduate.

Brenna24 · 18/01/2023 06:37

Wow. How exciting. Best of luck. I hope that he takes it as well as you have.

And me haha! We had joked before about having. Another ect so it was never completely off the table but we have a 8 year age gap between our 2 so this seems very close in age for us 😂

I don’t get long enough to sit down and notice changes to myself these days! But plus being a bigger person I hadn’t noticed a bump growing, till recently when I thought it was just bloating from eating too much over Christmas!

Cather1ne · 18/01/2023 06:46

Wow that must have been a shock! I was shocked when I found out at 9 weeks and thought that was late. 😅
wishing you a healthy and relaxing rest of pregnancy :)

lborgia · 18/01/2023 06:47

I have a friend who didn't realise. Twice. First time she was shocked, second time she was monumentally pissed off!

Congratulations, I'm so impressed by how calm you sound!!

Yes big shock! But I’m it’s not something that can be changed so it’s going to be a short adventure for us but we will navigate it together x

cushioncovers · 18/01/2023 06:51

What a shock op but congratulations and you are a star for taking it all in your stride.I'd be freaking out and blurting it to anyone who walked by in my panic 😁. Let us know what your Dh says.

I definitely remember that. A few people asked 'how did you not notice?'. Well, DC1 was 4, DC2 was 10 months. I wouldn't have noticed if my left leg had spontaneously fallen off!

When we found out DH and I just looked at each other and said 'here we go again'.

Pinkyhere · 18/01/2023 06:52

Hope you dh and kids react well.
Good luck and congratulations
I love your attitude. Hope all goes well

I’m 30 weeks and am hardly showing. I can still wear my usual jeans, they are just tight by the end of the day! The baby is measuring fine and midwife told me everyone is different. I can feel her moving a lot but I can see how you’d confuse it for something else if you truly didn’t know or suspect.
Congrats OP and ignore the snarky comments about your sex life.

surreygirl1987 · 18/01/2023 00:24

Wait... you were on DEPO? Doesn't it always work?!

Congrats!!

@surreygirl1987 nope no always. I got the depo before i left hospital with ds2 and my 2nd jag a week early. I only found out i got pregnant because I miscarried.

congratulations op

Cosmicdreams · 18/01/2023 06:59

Congratulations op. What an amazing suprise. wish you all the luck with your little ones x

Mamoun · 18/01/2023 07:03

You sound amazing!
My husband and I are a super strong couple but the year after a baby we can go months without sex. Doesn't mean anything, I understand exactly what you mean OP. I love my husband to bits and find him handsome and don't desire anyone else... just not always desire sex!

Let us know how he reacts!

Denise82 · 18/01/2023 07:04

Wow, congratulations. You are taking this better than me lol
I'm on depo and now I'm googling contraception failure stats about it 😆
Looks like you are the less than 1 in 100 , so a special one and I too believe what happens for a reason is meant to be 😊
For my own peace of mind about depo can I ask how long you were taking it and did you go perfectly every 12 weeks, as I've just had to have one at 13 weeks 1 day, due to there being no nurse at my surgery Christmas week when I needed to have it.
