Well this is scary! You’d think after 2 children already I’d know the signs! But nope! Only just found out in preg and going from last time me and hubby done the deed I’d be 30 weeks! Got to get onto midwife’s tomorrow morning and get a scan booked asap! Somehow find a way of telling the hubby and other kids and the rest of the family! I didn’t plan any more kids but obviously this 1 had other ideas! Oh and I was on the 12 week depo jab!

Congratulations OP. A relative of mine didn’t find out that she was pregnant until she was about 34 weeks pregnant. She went to GP for a swollen leg. She was getting periods throughout the pregnancy and once she found out the bump just became really obvious.

I on the other hand feel so nauseous from moment I wake up to when I fall asleep at night during first trimester that there is no mistaking that I am pregnant. So I feel jealous of those who don’t find out to much later.

Congratulations Op.

I think if you're using contraception & not having sex very often then I can see why pregnancy might not be your first thought!

riotlady · 18/01/2023 09:53

Congratulations! Must be a huge shock!!

This happened to a lady I used to work with- her first was only a baby still so she put all her symptoms down to post partum hormones/breastfeeding until she felt the baby roll over one day! I live in fear of this happening to me but (un)fortunately pregnancy always makes me really sick lol

TerfOnATrain · 18/01/2023 09:56

How exciting!

congratulations 💐

xogossipgirlxo · 18/01/2023 09:57

Wow. That was fast pregnancy for you. Congratulations, you lucky woman. No symptoms in first trimester.

TokyoSushi · 18/01/2023 09:58

Wow! This sounds like it's actually lovely news for you, so congratulations!

I was the same with my first 2 pregnancies. Sick and nauseous every day from 5 weeks all the way through pretty much. With my last I was still breastfeeding my middle child and my periods hadn’t returned so I never realised or thought I could be pregnant. If I’d been sick or nauseous I would have tested earlier. I can’t even remember now why I even did a test but glad I did as I was already around 15/16 weeks.

Oh my gosh I'm so happy for you. Keep us updated. I've been a bit depressed in my pregnancy but hearing about yours had brought a ray of sunshine. Keep us updated!

PloddingAlongHere · 18/01/2023 10:07

Congratulations, you are taking this very well (much better than I would)! I'm sure baby will be an excellent addition, you sound like a lovely mother

GinUnicorn · 18/01/2023 10:12

Best of luck with the scan! Will you be finding out the sex? Congratulations OP

I’ve never suffered with morning sickness with my other 2, and tbh we’ve all had every bug going for the last 5 months that I wouldn’t of noticed if I’d felt crappy for any other reason than just being poorly non stop!

i don’t think we let my jab take effect long enough, and the jab has always stopped my periods used it since I was 15! Only time I’ve come off it was when we wanted children! Normally takes up to a year for my periods to return so missing periods wasn’t a sign either coz I didn’t expect them anytime soon!

hubby was shocked as expected but he went well that answers a lot 😂 midwife’s are going to get me in for a scan asap. Now to tell my mum 🤦🏻‍♀️

The good news is that this pregnancy is only going to seem 10 weeks long!

Throwncrumbs · 18/01/2023 10:30

This is more common than you think, a friend gave birth in the bathroom to a full term baby without knowing she was pregnant, she certainly didn’t look pregnant, her older kids were mid teen, a patient was admitted to my ward with abdo pain? appendicitis, gave birth to a full term baby in a bed pan, she had been seen by a doctor not an hour beforehand, my sister didn’t realise she was pregnant until 28 weeks…I could go on…

dogdaydown · 18/01/2023 10:31

Friend is a midwife........... you're not the first this has happened too.

Congrats and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and baby.

LittleBear21 · 18/01/2023 10:35

A lot of people who claim to be ‘a nurse’ are not, they are carers who don’t have any qualification at all, just basic caring training on the job. Unfortunately most people think they are a ‘nurse’ which is where the confusion arises, and the carer never corrects the assumption.

OnedayIwillfeelfree · 18/01/2023 10:40

Congratulations! I hope it all goes well for you!

porpy · 18/01/2023 10:43

I met a girl at a baby group who didn’t find out until 34 weeks! She was only 20 and on contraception so wasn’t thinking of pregnancy at all/didn’t think no periods was anything other than a contraceptive side effect. She was ‘plus size’ anyway and said she never really looked pregnant at all. That plus a generally busy and hectic life meant it all went unnoticed, it absolutely does happen!

WinnieFosterReads · 18/01/2023 10:45

Congratulations! I hope you get a scan quickly Flowers

hubby works nights so don’t wanna tell him while he’s at work and then be like oh going sleep now night lol so I’ll tell him when he’s home, what I thought was phantom kicks and bloating turned into a solid stomach, and massive moving full on stomach waving moves made me think what if? So took a test this afternoon, wasn’t even 1 min and the test come back positive straight away!

Right, so you had actual fetal movement, that you felt repeatedly to the extent you could see it through your skin, and a large protuding uterine bump...and you didn't know you were pregnant?
The denial is strong in this one.

She says that's what gave it away

CallTheMobWife · 18/01/2023 10:58

It didn't appear fully formed and do all that movement in five minutes, did it?

Ya know it does happen where people don't realise they're pregnant. She really doesn't need the arsey comments
