@Miraclesdohappen88 that's so lovely, very glad for you!

@AnnieApple123 Now we're scan buddies! I'll be 13+2 so hoping I'm not measuring too far ahead/paat 14 :S but I was 1 week behind at 8 week scan so fingers crossed! (makes sense with my period cycle)

@sally16 my council doesn't offer pants unfortunately but stocked up on everything else & reusable pads, very not looking forward to needing them though 😂

sally16 · 19/01/2023 15:15

@BoodifulGoose how annoying! To be fair I was sent massive ones this time.. look like they'll go half way up my back and bright red so maybe they are low in stock 🤣

AnnieApple123 · 19/01/2023 17:29

How was your day in the end @Createcomet ?

And @Havanalily1806 how are you doing?

Best wishes for Monday @BoodifulGoose . I’m definitely going to be that day. No more procrastinating now!

@Miraclesdohappen88 what a lovely photo and many congratulations on the reassurance!!

I can’t believe how much they grow in a few weeks!!! You can see so much of the skeleton :)

It's been okay ish. I don't know about everyone else but I find my symptoms really up and down. Just as the tiredness and nausea was easing, the last 2 days have been really bad again, its so weird! Thankfully the migraine seems to have eased a bit in last couple of hours....But in all fairness I was crazy busy at work yesterday and didn't drink enough, so that's probably why it happened in the first place.

Swimming lesson with a migraine was a real challenge, especially as DS just spent half the lesson kicking me in the stomach and refusing to swim 🙄 Don't know what's come over him. Last week he had a fantastic swim!!!

But yeah, we've survived haha, which is my main objective at the moment 🤣

how's everyone else doing?

Createcomet · 19/01/2023 17:44

@Miraclesdohappen88 that is so lovely! Congratulations! Probably a relief to be measuring ahead too if you're feeling rough! So pleased to see it's all gone well 💛

sally16 · 19/01/2023 18:00

@Createcomet aw god we did water babies for a bit then moved to proper lessons and DS was the same.. either amazing or a nightmare!

I'm not looking forward to work tomorrow, 12 hour day shift and I'm scared 😅

Yes! I don't know why they're so extreme? We never have an average lesson. It's either amazing or "wtf was I thinking bringing him here?" 🤣

I can relate to the pre-work dread...But I find its basically never as bad as I think it's going to be, so hopefully you'll be the same 💛 you can do this!

LBF2020 · 19/01/2023 19:18

I've just had my scan, sonographer was happy everything looked normal. No obvious sign for bleeding so I'll mention it at my 12 week scan next week. She did say t's very normal in early pregnancy. Measuring 5 days ahead again and placenta is anterior.

Thanks for all the lovely comments whilst I had my panic yesterday ❤️

Firsttimemomma1 · 19/01/2023 19:32

@LBF2020 amazing news!!! Now go have whatever food your body can stomach and an imaginary glass of wine to celebrate!

sally16 · 19/01/2023 19:33

@LBF2020 such amazing news!!! Glad you had such a lovely scan!

AnnieApple123 · 19/01/2023 19:34

So glad all is well @LBF2020 . xx

@sally16 and @Createcomet DS still hasn’t ever been swimming. Originally the excuse was Covid but now it’s mainly just because I find all the getting changed, etc. such a hassle. I’m planning on doing some lessons with him in the spring. I’m thinking the one time I don’t need to worry too much what I look like in a swimsuit is when obviously pregnant, so that’s surely a good time.

To be fair, it is a right faff! I'm not sure how long I can take DS tbh, because how on earth can I be in the pool with him, whilst looking after a newborn?! I just can't. I'm lucky that MIL is subsidising cost because it costs a fortune tbh. It seems rubbish to force him to stop because I'm having another baby...But I honestly don't know what else to do. We also can't afford to pay for both of them to go. It would be £1200 a year 🤦‍♀️

sally16 · 19/01/2023 19:52

@AnnieApple123 I actually hate doing it.. our case is a little more awkward as he is likely ASD but he is a runner 😂 so I've gotta sit him with a snack and his tablet while I quickly strip then sort him.. then chase him after I've put the stuff in a locker then I always lose him at one point 😂 then getting changed back is the same.. thousands of snacks and me usually chasing him in my underwear after he's slipped under the door 😂😂😂 I still do it though as he loves it so much and the lifeguards at our usual pool just shout 'kick your legs!!' Once he's jumped into the deep end they are that used to him 🫠😂

AnnieApple123 · 19/01/2023 20:04

@Createcomet Here they can go to swimming lessons on their own from age 3. DS turns 3 in mid-May. I’m thinking I should go with him for at least a couple of lessons before that to get him used to it. Although I literally may only manage a couple of lessons at this rate! Can you put lessons on-hold until yours is 3 too?

Is anyone just ridiculously emotional all the time? I actually felt my bottom lip going when I picked DS up from nursery today because he had walked to the park with the group and was playing on the beach with another child.. which is a big step for him as in following instructions etc.. Usually I'd be like yass well done son high five but I have him a big hug to hide my face 🤣

Ah this is a good point actually. I suppose I'd just have to bridge the gap for a few months and then he could go in alone. I don't think they do it by age here, but more ability. But I seem to remember my friends kids swimming alone at about 3.5 🤔 still, the financials are crippling for 2 of them 🤣

AnnieApple123 · 19/01/2023 20:31

@Createcomet A few months off sounds reasonable. My DS does quite a few classes currently but I’m thinking of winding it all down for the summer term with the baby coming. I think he’ll be fine with that tbh.

I ended up getting really frustrated and down today at the state of the house. I need to work harder at getting DS into the habit of putting toys away when he’s finished with them and certainly before getting more out. Already several things he got for Xmas have bits missing. 🙄

@sally16 so emotional. I cry at the smallest thing and then 10 seconds later I’m hysterically laughing. My other half thinks I’m going crackers haha!

I found myself rubbing my tummy earlier and crying at the thought of one day meeting the little bean. Understandable. I think cried because I forgot to buy sponges from Aldi. Not so understandable!

BCxx · 19/01/2023 20:57

ChloeN · 19/01/2023 10:28

@BCxx my parents know too I couldn’t of kept it from them. My in laws are the same she wouldn’t be able to keep it to herself so if I tell them I have to be prepared for everyone to know 🤣

This is the problem! And it’s not like when it’s your family you can make it very clear they’ve not to say anything! I feel like she’d post it on Facebook or something as well. She is going to have to know eventually so she’ll just do this whenever she gets the chance 🙈

BCxx · 19/01/2023 21:00

Firsttimemomma1 · 19/01/2023 10:32

@BCxx @ChloeN we told our parents the day after we found out and had had a scan to confirm because I was soooooooo nervous about bad news down the line that I just wanted them to have a heads up for any future support that was needed. They’ve done soooooo well at keeping it a secret and they are dying to now start telling their friends as they keep having to overthink what they say so they don’t give anything away. It’s my MIL and FIL’s first grandchild so they are so so so excited but totally respect our boundaries.

On Christmas Day we told immediate family (my other half’s family is much bigger than mine and at family events they were starting to ask questions as to why I was going off to be sick or why I wasn’t drinking when I used to be such a big drinker and I think they already knew). Again, because it’s the first one in his family they were all so so excited and he couldn’t hold his own water.

The rest of the world (save for the odd person at work in HR who needed to know so they could support time off for scans) can wait until 12 weeks. We already have our little announcement planned and I must say I’m VERY excited about it. Was talking to my MIL yesterday when I went for a cuppa and she kept saying my DIL just looks at the scan photos on his phone every night and cries with happiness haha!

My other half’s nana is the worst. There’s no way we can’t tell her as it will cause family politics but we’re being tactical in what we do say to her direct otherwise some random person in timbuttoo will know within seconds of us divulging anything. She’s the biggest gossip and has no respect for news not being hers to share.

That’s so cute about him looking at the scan every night 😂 and nice that they respect your boundaries. Do they all live local for babysitting? My MIL sounds exactly like the nana! She lives really near us but won’t put herself out at all so has never offered to babysit or even come round to supervise him while I work or get stuff done in the house. They’re just not interested whereas my family are the opposite!

BCxx · 19/01/2023 21:01

@PumpkinEverything We went to window to the womb for the gender scan and got this too! The lady I went to for the early scans does the gender scans but I said to my husband I really wanted to go back to the same place and get the same kind of heartbeat bear we got with him and have that video to keep. It’s mental when you look back when they’re actually here!

BCxx · 19/01/2023 21:04

@Miraclesdohappen88 aww congrats on the scan, nearly there now! ☺️

BCxx · 19/01/2023 21:07

@LBF2020 aww congratulations! So glad it was good news for you 🥰

Firsttimemomma1 · 19/01/2023 21:10

@BCxx all super local :).

I feel for you with the MIL if she’s anything the the nana. She keeps messaging me asking when my scan is and it’s not because she cares it’s because she just wants to make the conversation all about her when she sees her friends. She won’t babysit nor would I let her tbh.
