Hello ladies
I'm 44 and had 4 previous miscarriages..... Found out last wk I'm pregnant and incredibly anxious after so many losses and my age. Lack of symptoms aren't helping besides the stretching twinges.

Is anyone joining me in this journey?

How is everyone? What symptoms have you all had/got?
I’ve still got sore/sensitive nipples, tired, hungry, and needing to pee more than normal!! I was a teeny bit sick Wednesday evening and today but not enough for me to class as having ‘morning’ sickness!

Mannymoomin · 21/01/2023 19:13

I’m only around 5 weeks but have had some bright red bleeding with tiny clots today, no pain and it’s not full flow, but I think this is the begging of the end again for me

Mannymoomin · 21/01/2023 19:15

Beginning not begging, although I’m begging it isn’t

CaliGirl47 · 21/01/2023 19:42

Oh @Mannymoomin I’m so sorry to hear that. 😢 I really hope it eases off for you. Maybe it could be a subchorionic hematoma? I’m so sorry. I know it’s hard to stay hopeful at times like this but you never know. It might not turn into anything more. Hopefully the fact that you have no cramps is a good sign. Hang in there. 💔

as far as symptoms go I don’t feel like I have any symptoms so far this time around. I am 5 weeks today and I haven’t had nearly as many symptoms as my last pregnancy. The occasional bit of fatigue. But last pregnancy my boobs were on fire by now. Nothing like that at the moment. I remember feeling like I’d been hit by a truck when 6 weeks rolled around and that’s when the nausea took off so we shall see if it is the same this time around…..

pinkpirlie · 21/01/2023 21:19

@Mannymoomin so sorry to hear about your bleeding. I hope you are able to get looked at quickly and hopefully it won't be the bad news you are expecting. You'll be in my thoughts xx

@Houseelf90 hope you're doing okay.
In terms of symptoms:

Boobs kill so much. Particularly in the evenings. I had some mild twinges in my womb area, but nothing like I had when I miscarried previously.

The exhaustion has been constant and I wake every day feeling jittery, like my heart is beating out my chest and I've drank about 20 red bulls in 5 minutes (& I never drink caffeine). Definitely more hunger too.

I have had some nausea in the evenings, and yesterday was the worst yet and it woke me during the night it was so bad, but I do think I overdid things yesterday. It eases off in the mornings (so much for 'morning' sickness).

I have started noticing smells more and they make me feel poorly - my partner's coffee smells like rotten chemicals (but weirdly can still drink my instant decaf with no issues), fumes in the train station (honestly thought I was going to throw up on the platform), etc.

It is all so random, some days are worse than others (like yesterday), and some days I feel absolutely normal.
First pregnancy that got this far for me (5+3) and I know there is no 'normal' symptoms. But it is so hard not to over analyse every feeling and change in feelings, and read far too much into them.

Week tomorrow and then I will have my first scan. Counting down the days.

Ella1211 · 21/01/2023 21:25

So sorry @Mannymoomin . Maybe you have another test în the beginning of next week to see how it's going? Are you still bleeding?

@Houseelf90 not a lot of symptoms either. Soreness in breasts comes and goes... but I should pretty much have the answers Monday when I have my first scan, close to 6weeks.

Houseelf90 · 21/01/2023 21:50

@Mannymoomin sorry to hear this, hopefully it’s not bad news 🤞🏼🤞🏼

@pinkpirlie I keep waking up at 4am reeeally hungry…which is not like me at all, I don’t usually eat until mid-late morning! So I’m making a conscious effort to try and eat breakfast every day! This pregnancy has got further than my second one, not quite as long as my first thought, middle of next week hopefully I’ll make it that far and beyond!

@CaliGirl47 as long as all is good, enjoy the lack of symptoms whilst it lasts!!

@Ella1211 eeek good luck for your scan!! I’m going to call EPU on Monday to see if I can book one!

pinkpirlie · 21/01/2023 21:53

@Houseelf90 know that feeling. Last Saturday was eating marmite on toast at 4am 🤣
Keeping everything crossed for you.

Tinkerbell098 · 21/01/2023 22:09

Girls I’m coming down with the cold and my throat us quite sore 😞 I’ve been having warm water with honey. Do you know of any pregnancy-friendly medicine I could take? Are strepsils deemed ok? Have read mixed things online.

Houseelf90 · 21/01/2023 22:11

@pinkpirlie I’m soo glad you’ve said that and I’m not the only one!! I might have to start taking some snacks up to bed ready for when I wake up 🤣🤣

Mannymoomin · 21/01/2023 22:47

I contacted my local private scan clinic, not expecting to hear anything from them yet, they just emailed me and told me what I already knew, they can’t scan me yet as it’ll be inconclusive and as I have no pain it isn’t necessary.
They said to test again in a week.
The bleeding has stopped now, just pink on wiping, but it was very heavy for a couple of hours and I can’t imagine anything would’ve survived that

Passenger87 · 21/01/2023 22:57

@Mannymoomin I am so sorry to hear that. Hopefully you can get some answers or reassurance soon x

@Houseelf90 in terms of symptoms my boobs are sore coming and going, I'm pretty tired and getting frequent twinges in my tummy.

@Tinkerbell098 I have a sinus thing the last few days and called the nurse line who advised I could take standard paracetamol. Strepsils should be OK, or halls soothers?

Houseelf90 · 21/01/2023 23:07

@Mannymoomin I hope you can get some answers soon, it’s so worrying having to wait.

Houseelf90 · 21/01/2023 23:10

@Passenger87 it’s reassuring to know my symptoms are similar to others. It’s so frustrating that AF, pregnancy and CP symptoms are all so similar. I haven’t really had anything different this time to the 2 CP’s so I keep worrying that it must be heading in that direction, but actually all the pains and things are very similar/the same as early preg!

Passenger87 · 21/01/2023 23:14

@Houseelf90 completely agree! So hard to tell one thing from the other!

I have a scan 5+3 on Wednesday and I'm so nervous. I'm further along now than I have been in a long time so there's so much to hope for but it also feels like so much to lose.

Houseelf90 · 21/01/2023 23:25

@Passenger87 bless you, I hope the scan goes well!! I’m further along than last time, but not quite as far along as the first. Hopefully I’ll make it to mid-end or next week and then that’ll be my furthest. Really hoping I can get to the 6 week mark and then I think my nerves will settle a little. Not sure I’ll ever stop examining the loo roll every time I wipe though 🤦‍♀️ (sorry for tmi)

localbunny · 22/01/2023 08:15

Hi everyone, so nice to have a group on this exciting but mildly terrifying time! I'm now 5+1 and still ticking along, previous migraine turned out not to be premenstrual so that was great!

Symptoms: really sore boobs, little waves of nausea, a bit more tired than usual! That's it.

Thinking of booking my first scan for around six weeks.

Hoping everyone has a lovely rest of weekend, I'm with @Houseelf90 I can't stop looking at loo roll!!

StayWeird · 22/01/2023 08:52

@Mannymoomin I'm sorry you are experiencing this, I hope you get some answers soon and that you are being well looked after in the meantime

StayWeird · 22/01/2023 09:07

@Houseelf90 I have nausea which comes and goes too, so far about every 2-3 days but not constant. I also feel tired, have had cramps and headaches on and off and I've been waking up in the early hours of the morning too. I also wish I had more definite symptoms and I completely relate to checking the loo roll every time!

@Vwswimmer1 thank you for sharing, I've ordered this too, it looks like a lovely book.

@Passenger87 good luck with your scan on Wednesday!

I hope everyone else is well and enjoying the weekend.

CaliGirl47 · 22/01/2023 09:49

Ugh I know I shouldn’t do this to myself. I am 5+1 today. Got my 2-3 weeks on clear blue last week. So I woke up this morning and used my last remaining test just assuming it would’ve progressed to 3+ and it’s still saying 2-3 😭 I know it’s silly. And I know it doesn’t necessarily mean anything but now I’ve got it in my head that this pregnancy isn’t progressing as it should be. (Blighted ovum?) Especially given my complete lack of symptoms. I’m sure CB must be absolutely raking in the millions £££ with the amount of women endlessly trying to secure their 3+ My head knows that it probably means nothing. But given that my previous pregnancy which ended in mmc I had blazing pregnancy symptoms and a straight progression from 2-3 to 3+ within a week has me worried. Even though that one ended in miscarriage, on the surface it seemed like a textbook pregnancy. Sorry for the rant. 😔 I’m just feeling discouraged and frustrated. It’s so hard when everything is out of our control. I just have to keep taking my vitamins and take it one day at a time until my scan in 16 days 🙏🏻🌈😢

Tinkerbell098 · 22/01/2023 09:59

@CaliGirl47 aww sorry you’re feeling this way. Having had a MC is so hard and you second guess everything! I’ve heard so many stories where girls never had a 3+ on a CB so I didn’t use it beyond getting 2-3. I’m 7+1 today with zero symptoms so I know how you feel. I keep telling myself that theres more chance of it working out than not and everything’s on my side for now. I was a wreck last week so completely understand. My scan is in 2 days, so just trying to stay positive until then and accept whatever comes. It’s so so hard. I’m with you X

Houseelf90 · 22/01/2023 10:18

@localbunny & @StayWeird I’m glad I’m not the only one obsessing over the loo roll 😂🙈

@CaliGirl47 its so frustrating isn’t it. I’ve got 1 test left, I’d love to get a 3+ but I know realistically I’d have to leave it till the back end of next week to use and I’m not sure I have that patience. I’ll probably use it Monday and hope for a 2-3. At least then when I speak to EPU if I can’t have any scans or there’s a long delay I can order some more tests!! I have my fingers eased it’s good news at your scan!!

StayWeird · 22/01/2023 11:02

@CaliGirl47 I got 2-3 on CB at 5+1 too and
have read (after obsessively searching!) that they often don't show 3+ till 6 weeks because the HCG range for 2-3 weeks is so large. Some people never get 3+ and have successful pregnancies.

But I totally understand the anxiety, it's so hard isn't it! I'll probably do another test next week even though I think they are horrendous for causing anxiety!

One day at a time for all of us 🌈🙏

HopefulBee · 22/01/2023 11:23

@CaliGirl47 I found an old post where someone attached a chart for hcg levels per week and information about what threshold the CB tests need to show 2-3 or 3+. I will try to attach it here - it really shows that levels vary hugely and chances are you are completely fine and your levels are rising nicely but just haven’t reached the threshold yet. But I understand you, I also have no symptoms and am freaking out about it. Hope it just means we are both lucky and all is well.

@Tinkerbell098 hope all goes well on your scan and that no symptoms is just your body coping well with pregnancy. I have friends with healthy babies who never had a single symptom. Just difficult to apply that logic to ourselves isn’t it.

Vwswimmer1 · 22/01/2023 11:54

@StayWeird it really is a lovely book, helping me already.

Feeling weirdly positive and just trying to embrace it as last time I was really anxious and tried to stop myself feeling anything as I thought it'd make it easier if I did miscarry - which I did but actually it hurt just as much as before.

Such a horrible time though, I really really envy the people who can enjoy the pregnancy due to no previous losses 😔
