Hello ladies
I'm 44 and had 4 previous miscarriages..... Found out last wk I'm pregnant and incredibly anxious after so many losses and my age. Lack of symptoms aren't helping besides the stretching twinges.

Is anyone joining me in this journey?

Thank you @Blueskies4 and @pinkpirlie. It helps a bit knowing I’m not the only one driving myself crazy with worry and also hearing about symptoms not being a reliable sign either way. I think it’s particular hard having to wait for the scan because we are all so used to being able to find out things quickly nowadays. Pregnancy is so different in that respect. Everything takes time and we have no control. Wishing you and all the other mums here that all goes well with our little ones ❤️.

@Izzie94x welcome! I’m also 4+2. Congratulations on your IVF success! What helped me with my first pregnancy was remembering that the odds are in your favour. Most pregnancies go well, and there is no reason to think at this point that that is different. I also had sore boobs and bloating at this point with my first, nausea only started about a week later. Many of my friends had zero symptoms. 🤗

Welcome @HopefulBee & @Izzie94x !

I had my gp booking appointment today (don't know if its done differently in ireland to the uk) she used the least sensitive test they had and gave a blazing positive. She's aware of our previous struggles and was so lovely and supportive.

I was so nervous going in I poas 3 times and was still afraid her test would come back negative. PAL is a rollercoaster like none other x

Vwswimmer1 · 20/01/2023 13:10

Hi everyone! I've had 2 previous miscarriages and just found out I'm about 4 weeks pregnant, due end of Sept. Eeek.

Littleheart5 · 20/01/2023 14:19

Looks like we’re in the same boat @Vwswimmer1 , I’m going to try to book into with my consultant for a scan as soon as possible. I’m also in Ireland @Passenger87 , that’s great you saw GP so early. I’m planning to go straight to consultant as he guided us through last mc

Furbabymum15 · 20/01/2023 16:19

@Passenger87 thanks so much for your well wishes..... I've had a roller-coaster.... On Wednesday I had some spotting so panicked and done a test which came back lighter. Booked a private scan which showed the sac and the yolk sack. Fast forward to today's nhs scan there's a fetal pole and a heartbeat!!!! I'm taking it 1 day at a time for now and hoping for the best xx

pinkpirlie · 20/01/2023 16:31

Oh @Furbabymum15 that sounds like such a stressful few days.

So happy you have a pole and heartbeat, that must be so reassuring. It sounds like everything is going well for you. The one day at a time is my approach too.

I did a CBD today, a week after the last one, and got 3+ so I'm a little less anxious as that is a week on and aligns to me being 5+2 now. This is now my longest pregnancy.
Can't wait for next weekend and my scan. It can't come soon enough.

.

CaliGirl47 · 20/01/2023 16:48

Oh wow that sounds like one hell of a week! @Furbabymum15 I’m so glad all is well now, and you got to see that heartbeat. 💓 Treat yourself to a nice hot chocolate for getting through all that stress.

I got a call from the Tommy’s recurrent miscarriage clinic at my hospital and they said they could offer me a reassurance scan in a couple of weeks time when I will be 7 weeks. So that has given me some hope that if I can keep taking it one day at a time then hopefully I can make it to the scan and it will bring good news 🙏🏻🌈 It’s really filling me with anxiety already so idk how I’m going to be on the day. They also mentioned that they heard I’m taking aspirin and they recommended that I stop taking it since I haven’t had any blood tests suggesting that I need aspirin. And they said it could do more harm than good.😣 So now of course I’m panicking about taking it this week. And wondering if I’ve done damage. But I’d heard so many good stories of women having successful pregnancies with it. So now my head is in a pickle 😔😵‍💫😣 I just really hope this one sticks 👶🏼🌈🙏🏻🥲

Passenger87 · 20/01/2023 17:21

@Furbabymum15 so sorry to hear about all that stress, but so pleased things seem to be moving in the right direction x

@pinkpirlie great that the cbd is progressing

@CaliGirl47 I wouldnt worry too much, is it low dose aspirin you were taking? Also anything before the 6 week mark doesn't tend to affect the baby itself. I know it's tough and we all second guess ourselves but try not to worry too much and just go with the advice you are given.

All any of us can do is make the best decision we can with the info available at a given time x

Furbabymum15 · 20/01/2023 18:13

@pinkpirlie @Passenger87 @CaliGirl47 thank you so much ladies I hope you're all well xx
Also @CaliGirl47 try not to worry about the aspirin. I had the blood tests and don't have a blood clotting disorder but told to take it regardless. Also so nice to see Tommy's work. I've done the Great North Run twice for them and raised 1500 pounds xx

@Furbabymum15 so sorry you had to go through that. But really pleased that todays scan was very positive. Did they mention how far along you are? Enjoy a relaxing evening you deserve it X

Furbabymum15 · 20/01/2023 18:42

@Tinkerbell098 thankyou so much. On the scan baby is 3.3mm and 6wks exactly. By 1st day of last period I should be 6+5 but from ovulation I should be 6+2 so I'm not exactly sure though all is good and I'm happy with that xx

OP posts:
Tinkerbell098 · 20/01/2023 18:48

@Furbabymum15 that’s great! From ovulation is probably a better measure and you’re only a couple of days out, which happens on a scan this early as it’s still tiny! So pleased for you and hope you’re feeling more reassured now X

HopefulBee · 20/01/2023 18:56

@Furbabymum15 very happy for you that it went well. Things can really change so quickly within a few days or even a day right? One moment you fear the worst and the next things are looking really good. So glad you got to see the heartbeat, that’s a great sign.

I have felt really reassured by everyone’s stories and replies here, felt the best I’ve felt since finding out I’m pregnant, and then started getting twinges and pains in my belly and am back to worrying…even though I never felt anything with my mc until after the bleeding started. 🙄 Can’t wait for my early scan but still got 19 days to go…

CaliGirl47 · 20/01/2023 19:35

Thanks for your support and reassurance ladies. 🤗
Yes @Passenger87 it was the low dose aspirin thankfully. I felt so confident that it could only help so I was quite shocked when she told me to stop taking it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Wow that’s amazing! 👏🏻 @Furbabymum15 Well done, that’s amazing that you’ve ran it twice. 🌟

How are you doing? @Tinkerbell098 not long until your scan right?

Hang in there lovely @HopefulBee Hopefully the twinges and pains are all signs of a nice snug bean and everything is starting to stretch and grow just as it is supposed to. 🤗

Passenger87 · 20/01/2023 19:43

@HopefulBee I mentioned to my gp today at my gp booking appointment that I was having twingey pains in my right side. She asked me the following questions

Is the pain a pin point
Do you have shoulder pain
Is the pain getting worse over time

I answered no to all

She also checked my BP and confirmed I dont have a fever.

Then she said it was likely stretching pain. But obviously if it gets severe or I developed other concerning symptoms to call the epu.

Bear in mind I have suffered a heterotopic pregnancy before (one in uterus and one in tube at the same time) so if she's not concerned I figure it must be normal enough. But up until that moment I was starting to panic.

Tinkerbell098 · 20/01/2023 19:56

@CaliGirl47 i didn’t think that low dose aspirin could do any harm. I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about as I’ve heard loads of ladies take it in early pregnancy and been fine. I’m alright, still no symptoms whatsoever so still a little anxious. Yes the scan is on Tuesday and I’m so so nervous!

Iusedtobedontcall · 20/01/2023 20:22

Hi all, I’m 7 weeks 4 days after a MMC in July. I’ve got a private scan booked next week but feeling very nervous.

Goneaboutthiswrong · 20/01/2023 20:49

I started spotting dark brown when I wiped today. Called the epu who told me to try and not worry and keep checking in case it goes red 😣 very worried at the moment but they booked me on for another scan on Tuesday where I should be 7wks. Wish me luck ladies…will keep you all updated. Wishing you all well x

Ella1211 · 20/01/2023 20:57

@Goneaboutthiswrong

so sorry you're experiencing this. I read many stories of ladies even bleeding heavily and having a healthy pregnancy. So it can go either way. I know is nerve-wracking. But all you can do is wait. Best thoughts to you for things to turn out fine!

Goneaboutthiswrong · 20/01/2023 21:03

Thank you @Ella1211 I’m hoping for the best, will keep you all updated. I’m hoping it’s just one of those things or an old bleed. The EPU gave me progesterone (not vaginally!) to take twice a day from 6wks so hoping this helps too.

HopefulBee · 21/01/2023 11:29

Thank you @CaliGirl47, I hope the same for you!

@Passenger87 thanks for sharing that with me. I guess your gp was asking about signs for an ectopic pregnancy. Good to know that she was not concerned about your pains. I do think it’s common, I had twinges and pains with my first pregnancy (my daughter) but I guess after having a miscarriage everything ends up feeling stressful.

@Goneaboutthiswrong I hope it’s nothing to be concerned about. I heard bleeding is very common in the first trimester, as long as you don’t have any heaving red bleeding you should be fine. Crossing my fingers for you!

HopefulBee · 21/01/2023 11:29

I meant heavy not heaving.

Furbabymum15 · 21/01/2023 16:54

@HopefulBee yes every day counts doesn't it. I'm sure it will fly by til your Scan and all will be well xxx

Thank you, I’m going so too. Trying not to worry too much until Tuesday when I have a scan. Will update you all then x
