Hello ladies
I'm 44 and had 4 previous miscarriages..... Found out last wk I'm pregnant and incredibly anxious after so many losses and my age. Lack of symptoms aren't helping besides the stretching twinges.

Is anyone joining me in this journey?

@HopefulBee hope you get a lovely scan today xx interesting to know the MWs thoughts!

@CaliGirl47 thats so lovely that you’re feeling it every day, what a nice feeling it is ❤️

@kl1999 what an ordeal, bless you. I’d keep in regular contact with them to try and get it pushed through, but also inclined to agree with a couple of the others and maybe go to the other hospital just so you can get your scan done quickly and the relief from that, and then transfer xx good luck x

@kl1999 that sounds really shit!!! Wondering if you are in the same area as me as with my first loss last year I think I had to explain to 3 different people within the NHS that I had lost the pregnancy all after EPU had said they would update my record, each different person then said they would get it updated but this basically went on until I registered a new pregnancy with them!!!
I don’t really have any advice to offer, but I really, really hope it all gets sorted quickly for you 🤞🏼

I'm so sorry you had to go through that! It's honestly disgusting. Luckily the receptionist at the GP did indeed pass the message on and I received a call from the student midwife (with the midwife in the background) to confirm they had contacted hospital 'X' for me. I should get a call back with an appt date in the next 24 hours. So I am somewhat relieved! For ref, I'm from the West Mids.

kl1999 · 17/03/2023 09:08

@CaliGirl47 Thank you so much. I was so blindsided by it, honestly! She was clearly expecting a 38/39 week pregnant lady to walk through the door. She said "You had xx midwife last time, this is the first time I think we've met. You haven't been seen in ages" and I was like... "Why would I have been seen before??". It was very awkward and she was clearly embarrassed.

Luckily I'm at a place where I can and I'm somewhat comfortable talking about my loss from last year (which she asked me about in great detail). But I imagine for others, it would have been an incredibly traumatic experience for them.

I'm really glad you said that, as I did ask that exact question to hospital Z when they called and the gentlemen said "no, wherever you have your scans, that's where you stay for your entire pregnancy journey".

As mentioned in my PP, midwife is now aware of her mistake and has contacted hospital X for me. Fingers crossed and thanks so much for the advice and kind words :) xx

kl1999 · 17/03/2023 09:17

@HopefulBee It wasn't what I was expecting to walk into, by the looks of it, the midwife wasn't expecting it either! Thank you for your support.
Hope all goes well at your scan today! ❤😊 Keep us posted xx

@Blueskies4 Thank you! Luckily it seems the midwife is sorting it out, just waiting on a call back from the hospital now with a scan appt date. I'm really glad you all have mentioned about changing hospital after 1st scan (if it didn't work out the way I wanted). As the man who called from the Z hospital told me I couldn't do that and there is zero chance I could change hospital. I think I was still in abit of a tizz after the appt with the midwife, so I wasn't as switched on as I normally am.

Will keep you all posted! Hope everyone is feeling and doing well 💕

Tinkerbell098 · 17/03/2023 09:44

@kl1999 so sorry you had that experience, that's so appalling. I was also told you can change hospitals anytime you wanted, so I don't agree with what hospital Z has informed you. Anyway, glad they're sorting it for you now and you can have a scan soon X

@HopefulBee good luck for the scan today lovely X

For anyone who's felt movements so far, did it just feel like a tiny tiny flutter for a few seconds and then nothing? I've had this a few times, but not that frequently, perhaps once or twice a day, which I've just put down to my tummy digesting something 😂. But reading about how some of you have already felt things, I'm just wondering, could it be 🤔? I'll be 15 weeks tomorrow and baby was oh so wriggly at my 12 week scan. First pregnancy here, so no idea what movement feels like.

Tinkerbell098 · 17/03/2023 09:45

*should have said "first pregnancy to have moved this far" but you know what I mean.

CaliGirl47 · 17/03/2023 10:12

I’m so pleased for you that things seem to be going in the right direction. Hopefully your chosen hospital will get you in asap. I’m in the West Mids as well 🙋🏻‍♀️ but I know each trust can have different ways of doing things. Shocking that hospital Z told you you couldn’t change hospitals. I’ve never heard that before. I think it’s your right to choose wherever you want to have baby. Some people experience disappointing antenatal care and decide to change hospitals in the third trimester. So I’d be very shocked if they forced you into one hospital. I know it can depend on availability though. The hospital I’m booked with is not the nearest one to me but it is in very high demand and I’ve heard that they do have to turn some people away if they’re fully booked for august/September /etc. then you can get bumped to a more local one. But considering hospital X is your closest I don’t see any reason why they should cause a fuss.

Aw that’s so exciting! You really are getting so far along now. So pleased for you lovely! @Tinkerbell098 The best way I can describe it is like a little butterfly 🦋 fluttering around for a few seconds maybe like 15/30 seconds. Or sometimes it feels like little bubbles popping 🫧 it’s very very gentle so if I’m in a car in motion I don’t feel it. I was driving almost all day yesterday so didn’t feel anything until later on when I was in bed. Idk if it’s coincidental or if it’s just one of the rare times I’m sitting down, but I’ve noticed some activity when I sit down for my evening meal. Haha maybe baby is as excited about food as I am. 😆 I did wonder how long it takes from consuming food/drink to it impacting baby 🤔 I’ve heard of people drinking fizzy drinks or having a chocolate bar to try to get baby moving in a scan so it must not take that long from consumption to reaching little one 👶🏼

CaliGirl47 · 17/03/2023 10:12

Ooos sorry meant to tag you in the first part ⬆️⬆️⬆️ @kl1999

Tinkerbell098 · 17/03/2023 11:44

@CaliGirl47 thanks ❤from what you've described, it feels similar to what I have been feeling, but wasn't really sure. I'll pay more attention in the next few days to see if I can really feel any flutters. How exciting!

Houseelf90 · 17/03/2023 12:40

@kl1999 sounds like they are getting it sorted for you, I hope you get your appointment soon!! Ahh I’m North West Anglia so different trust but wouldn’t have surprised me if it was the same one!

HopefulBee · 17/03/2023 13:52

Thank you everyone for wishing me good luck! I was sooo nervous this time as this scan was at the same ultrasound centre as when we confirmed our mc last time. Had this feeling that something wasn’t right. But that ended up just being nerves and bad memories - the scan was absolutely lovely! Baby was very active, turning and jumping around the whole time. The technician checked the baby head to toe and saw nothing of concern. Got to hear the heartbeat for the first time too 🥰🥰. Am absolutely over the moon and so excited that we are now going to start telling people.

log51 · 17/03/2023 13:54

@HopefulBee that's just wonderful news, really happy for you

Houseelf90 · 17/03/2023 15:21

So pleased for you @HopefulBee, it’s such a magical moment seeing them moving around so much isn’t it! 🥰
Very naive but I had no idea how much they moved around at this stage so was a bit shocked that baby was upside down compared to everyone’s ‘normal’ scan pictures but they soon turned over 🤣

Blueskies4 · 17/03/2023 17:14

@Tinkerbell098 exactly how @CaliGirl47 describes it for me too… I can understand why the bubble popping sensation people say could be digestion/wind confused, but I think you start to notice it about the same times every day and particularly when you’re still. Mine seems to have been evening which was the same with my daughter. Also @Tinkerbell098 i was 15 weeks when I started feeling my daughter and she was my first ❤️ I seem to remember that the medical term for early movement is quickening!

@HopefulBee so happy for you with your lovely scan and a very happy busy baby xxx

Astar21 · 17/03/2023 19:49

@HopefulBee yay ❤️ lovely news, so happy for you!

HopefulBee · 18/03/2023 05:37

Thanks @Astar21, @Blueskies4, @Houseelf90 and @log51 ! It really is the best feeling when you see them happily playing around in there. Now I have to try to annoy the second trimester and stop living from appointment to appointment as they’re now spaced out more and anyway things should be fine. Chances are very good now but it’s so hard to internalise that after loss. Wishing you all a lovely weekend ☺️.

HopefulBee · 18/03/2023 05:38

I meant enjoy not annoy haha

Pandalovee · 18/03/2023 20:50

Hi girls. A little update.

Currently 13+3 weeks pregnant and we had a scan last Monday. Everything looks great. How is everyone else feeling?

Blueskies4 · 19/03/2023 16:51

@Pandalovee congratulations, that’s a lovely clear scan too xx

I had a private scan today, I have my dates at 12 weeks today and baby measured 11 weeks. Baby was moving and we saw the heartbeat but it worries me so much measuring behind when I’m so set on my dates. NHS dating scan is next Tuesday so I’ll be holding my breath until then!

Pandalovee · 19/03/2023 17:24

Thank you lovely. Don't worry too much. When I was pregnant with my son I measured a week and a half earlier then I thought I was. Baby still very tiny . Heartbeat and moving around is a very good sign ❤️

Houseelf90 · 19/03/2023 20:58

Happy Mothers Day to you all, whether you are already mummies or just mummies to be! All being well next Mother’s Day we will be cuddling our 6 month old babies!

I hope everyone is doing ok?

@Blueskies4 it sounds like the scan was positive with the movement and heartbeat. The sonographer told my other half they only get 5% of dates correct at this stage, I don’t know how accurate that is but I’ve had 3 different dates so far! As long as baby is growing with a good heartbeat at your next scan I would try not to worry too much but I know that far easier said than done xx

kl1999 · 20/03/2023 10:18

@Tinkerbell098 @CaliGirl47 Thanks both. Haven't had a call from the hospital yet regarding my scan date/appt. Will have to chase it with the midwife at some point today, sigh.

@Houseelf90 Oh, I am so happy for you! What lovely news ❤ xxx

@Pandalovee what a beautiful scan pic! As @Blueskies4 says, it's a really clear one. Congratulations xx

@Blueskies4 Try not to fret about the dates, (I know it's easier said than done), but I've read in many other threads that people who had scans a few days apart and had completely different date results for each one!

Hope everyone is feeling good 🌷

Pandalovee · 20/03/2023 10:20

Thank you so much . It took a while to get that good shot . Baby was all over the place kept moving away 🤣

Pandalovee · 20/03/2023 10:21

I hope you be able to get hold of your midwife today ❤️❤️

CaliGirl47 · 20/03/2023 20:09

Congratulations @HopefulBee So glad your scan went well. Hearing that heartbeat is such a magical moment 🥹🥰💗

What a lovely pic of baby 😍 so glad all is going well. @Pandalovee 🤗 I am 13+3 today. I was feeling really good and starting to think my nausea had gone and then I was sick multiple times yesterday 🙈

Will be thinking of you @Blueskies4 all the best for your scan tomorrow. Hopefully you will have a lovely reassuring experience. 💗 As others have said everything is measured in very small increments of mm or cm at this stage so different sonographers and different equipment can give totally different results. But I know it’s hard not to be anxious about things.

Sorry to hear that you are still waiting for your appointment @kl1999 I do hope you can get through to someone soon to get the ball rolling 🌼

How are you doing @pinkpirlie ? you’ve got your follow up scan this week right?
