Hello ladies
I'm 44 and had 4 previous miscarriages..... Found out last wk I'm pregnant and incredibly anxious after so many losses and my age. Lack of symptoms aren't helping besides the stretching twinges.

Is anyone joining me in this journey?

I just got my NIPT results, also low risk! Am super happy. Cannot wait for the scan on Friday, really hope baby moves then and shows us he or she is fine in there. Would be such a relief and a good start to the second trimester.

@Houseelf90 I know the feeling. It’s impossible to sleep sometimes when you have all that excitement and the nerves to deal with but then the already low energy levels are even lower…😴

Houseelf90 · 15/03/2023 11:34

Just back at work from my scan, all went well and we have one very active baby measuring ahead at 12+2, EDD now 25th September 🥰

Due September 2023 after miscarriage 🌈
log51 · 15/03/2023 12:46

Thrilled for you @Houseelf90 and everyone else who's had positive scans. Mine's not til 22nd which seems like such a long wait now and according to my last private scan will be at 13 +1.

@HopefulBee is it normal to get your NIPT results? My best friend is a few weeks ahead of me at the same hospital and was told she would only get results if abnormal which I didn't think sounded right?!

Also I was speaking to one of you about Zika virus and I had my negative result through phew!

Houseelf90 · 15/03/2023 12:55

@log51 thank you! I was told today the NIPT results take around 7-10 days and they will call me if it’s anything urgent, but if all is ok I will get a letter through the post. 22nd will soon be here, it felt like I had ages to wait and all of a sudden the day was here!

HopefulBee · 15/03/2023 13:22

Yay @Houseelf90 ! Wonderful news! And always nice when you can skip a few days because baby measures ahead.

@log51 I was told I would get a call if there was an issue and an email if the results were fine. So I got it through email today. They said 10 working days but ended up being just 4! Am very grateful for the quick results.

Astar21 · 15/03/2023 13:51

@Houseelf90 amazing news ❤️ beautiful scan picture too 🌈

I was also told I'd get a phone call for any urgent results or a letter in the post within a couple of weeks.

Is anyone thinking of going for a private scan prior the to the 20w? I think I'm going to book a fetal-well being one for about 17w to break the weeks up and for peace of mind

kl1999 · 15/03/2023 16:54

Please can I join this thread! I will be 12 weeks this Friday, after suffering from a mc back in September last year (Found out when going to an early private scan, should have been 10 weeks, baby measured at 8 weeks and no heartbeat).

Took a test at the end of January as period never arrived and it was positive, with 3+ showing on the test.

I have my first midwife app at the GP tomorrow, so god knows when I'll actually have my first scan! After my experience last time, I'm really trying to avoid paying for a private early scan - but the nerves and anxiety really don't help.

Compared to 1st pregnancy, I have had so many symptoms (feeling/being sick, fuller boobs, sensitive nipples, gone off certain food/drink). So I really am trying to be positive. It's just very hard to!!

00Bubbles00 · 15/03/2023 17:34

Hi all, just wondering if those of you who have had the NIPT tests then didn't do the NHS combined screening? I had my 12 week scan today and the sonographer measured the NT but then automatically sent me to the screening midwife for my bloods. I had previously said I wouldn't have them as I have the NIPT but was told I should as one of the blood tests they run can show if the placenta is working properly. I did it in the end but now worried I'll get a high risk result as I am old (39) and the NT on the scan was bigger than in my previous pregnancies (although still in the normal range). Sort of wish I had stuck to my guns on it!

Houseelf90 · 15/03/2023 18:26

Thank you @HopefulBee and @Astar21 🥰

Welcome @kl1999, I hope you don’t have to wait too much longer for your scan 🤞🏼

HopefulBee · 15/03/2023 18:42

@kl1999 Welcome to the group and sorry to hear about your loss. It just be so tough to wait for a scan for so long, but I completely understand you not wanting to repeat your previous experience. Hope you get a scan date soon!

@00Bubbles00 where I am you choose either or but don’t do both. But it’s not the NHS so not sure that helps you.

Blueskies4 · 15/03/2023 19:41

congratulations on all your lovely scans ladies, lots of positive upsets ❤️

Welcome @kl1999 hope you get a date through for your scan asap xx

Blueskies4 · 15/03/2023 19:42

Bloody autocorrect, that should of course have read positive updates*!!

Houseelf90 · 15/03/2023 19:49

@Blueskies4 I had to laugh, I didn’t even notice your autocorrect until I read your second post 🤣🤣🤦‍♀️

CaliGirl47 · 15/03/2023 20:22

@pinkpirlie I’m glad that all was well with baby and it’s always nice to see them moving around. I have a retroverted uterus and so always struggle at this stage to get a clear view. Hence why I was chugging water until my bladder was bursting 😅 So I totally understand any disappointment with not getting a clear view. Hopefully next week will be better as baby will have grown a bit more.

@Littleheart5 Aw that’s lovely news about your scan. Glad to hear the cramping was just normal pregnancy stretching 😆

Congratulations! @Houseelf90 What a lovely clear scan pic 😍

We are very excited to find out if baby is a boy or a girl so we will be booking a wellbeing/gender scan at 16 weeks and then doing a gender reveal with family. I’m looking forward to seeing baby again and hopefully I can bring my DD to the scan so she can experience it as well. It’s nice to have a stepping stone to look forward to. Then it feels like it’s not so long to wait then until the anatomy scan
@Astar21

Congratulations and welcome!
@kl1999 Im so sorry about your loss. I also had a MMC this past autumn so I know how stressful scans can be. 😢 Wishing you all the best for this pregnancy 🌈👶🏼🍼

Okay so apologies for the lengthy post 😅 but is anyone feeling any flutters yet? I know it’s waaaay early. And I never ever thought it was possible this early. At my booking bloods last week the midwife asked me if I felt any movement from baby yet and I just automatically said no and almost laughed because it sounded so ridiculous. Well ever since then (maybe I’m just paying more attention?) I’ve been getting these fluttery feelings at least once a day. Always when I’m sitting still or lying down and I really think it’s baby 🥹 I didn’t feel them until like 16-18 weeks with DD… I am definitely not thin. I carry weight around my midsection, and having a retroverted uterus I always thought it made it more difficult to feel movements. Idk if it’s just this baby’s position but I swear I get these tiny butterfly flutters usually in the exact same spot 🥲🥹🦋 it makes me so happy I nearly cried the first time it happened.

pinkpirlie · 15/03/2023 20:40

@Houseelf90 what a beautiful scan picture, congratulations on your positive scan.

Congrats on all the other good news today!!

Thanks @CaliGirl47 for the encouraging words, I'm still super anxious as I just wish I could have seen the heart beat myself.

No feelings of baby yet, but this is #1 for me.

@kl1999 I only had my booking in with the midwife last Friday at 12+1, so I don't think you're too late. I also have to redo my dating scan next week as they couldn't see the baby properly yesterday. Hopefully you'll get an appointment soon.

@00Bubbles00 I'm 39 too! We aren't that old :)

I'm having the NT and bloods screening done if they can see the baby next week, else it will have to be the blood test at 16 weeks. I didn't think they did NIPT on NHS unless you're high risk on the first lot of screening.

Houseelf90 · 15/03/2023 20:47

Thank you @CaliGirl47 and @pinkpirlie, I’m super pleased with the clear picture! The sonographer did say that I had a really full bladder and ushered me off for a wee whilst she did the paperwork so I think that definitely helped 🤣

@CaliGirl47 just before opening your post I felt a movement which felt right for baby turning over 😳😳 was just a split second flutter….right place etc but I have no idea if it’s possible this early on!! On the conceiving thread I’m on, someone had been able to feel movements from 14 weeks with both her pregnancies (first was single, second twin) so I guess it is possible but who knows! Maybe I am just imagining things or more aware since I saw how many times baby turned over during the scan! It was crazy timing with feeling that and then reading your post though! Hopefully we will carry on feeling things and the movements will get more frequent and stronger!

Astar21 · 15/03/2023 22:45

@CaliGirl47 that sounds lovely, so exciting! 💙💗 Yes I definitely think it'll be a good stepping stone. I go on holiday at 18w so hoping it'll put my mind at ease before I go. Then the 20w to look forward to afterwards.
I've not felt anything yet, just kind of 'stretching' feelings. Can't wait to feel some flutters 🥰

Blueskies4 · 16/03/2023 06:39

@CaliGirl47 this has made me so excited because I spent all last night googling whether it was possible because two days in a row I’ve felt a teeny fluttering and convinced myself it can’t be the case. I felt my daughter flutter at 15 weeks and a few women said that’s not possible with a first at the time, but I guess everything is just “averages” so it’s possible?! Really hope so! ❤️ my rationale was that if something that big walked over the top of your stomach you’d surely feel it, so why not inside!

kl1999 · 16/03/2023 08:42

@Houseelf90 @HopefulBee @CaliGirl47 - thank you all for your lovely comments.

It's sad but also comforting to know, we all genuinely mean it when we say "we know how you feel".

@pinkpirlie - Thanks for this! It was a 4 week wait at my GP surgery to get booked in with the midwife, my appointments today actually.

Think its more the anticipation of having the scan, as last time obviously didn't go well for me. It feels like I've been waiting forever, lol.

kl1999 · 16/03/2023 16:05

Apologies if I should be starting another thread, I am very new to MN so please be kind and let me know if I should be or not...

My midwife appt was to sum it up a shit show. It was a different midwife to the one I had previously (previous pregnancy that ended in mc last year). For some reason, not sure whether it is the GPs at fault or the midwifes, but she thought I was still pregnant from the pregnancy from last year..

Yes, you read that right.

There was a lovely student midwife sitting in on the appt, and she told the main midwife I am basically 12 weeks (she asked me on route from escorting me from the waiting room to their room) - Midwife looked shocked and confused. I got sent out the room, as whatever she had planned to discuss with me, was now n/a and she had to scramble to get the right stuff for the appt.

She then phoned the hospital (I was not aware which hospital she was on the phone to) to request an urgent scan for me, before I hit 14 weeks. There was some back and fourth between her and the person she was on the phone to. I was then told, I would get a call from the hospital with a scan date, within the next 24 hours.

In my area, there are two local hospitals. One is much better and also closer to where I live than the other. Halfway through the appointment, she asked about my preference and I said "X please". Maybe it's my own fault and perhaps my naivety to all of this, but I didn't think to say to her "which hospital did you ring earlier?". But at the same time, I told her there and then and she never once said "Oh dear, I better cancel the appt at Z hospital and get something sorted for X hospital.

By the time I got back to work, the hospital rang and low and behold it was the Z hospital. I explained the situation to them and they said, "you need to get in touch with your midwife to sort this for you".

I didn't have her number, or a card with her details on. Rang the GP and they said she had already gone for the day, and they didn't have her number either. I then explained the situation to them and the receptionist said, "leave it with me, I'll make sure the midwife is told".

Now, my GPs are not known for being "amazing" and now I'm incredibly anxious about what to do next... Not sure what I'm hoping for by writing all of this. So sorry for spamming up the thread.

Houseelf90 · 16/03/2023 17:39

@kl1999 that sounds really shit!!! Wondering if you are in the same area as me as with my first loss last year I think I had to explain to 3 different people within the NHS that I had lost the pregnancy all after EPU had said they would update my record, each different person then said they would get it updated but this basically went on until I registered a new pregnancy with them!!!
I don’t really have any advice to offer, but I really, really hope it all gets sorted quickly for you 🤞🏼

CaliGirl47 · 16/03/2023 17:40

@Houseelf90 Ahhh! That’s amazing! 😍😍😍 So exciting!

ooh lovely. So nice you’ve got a babymoon to look forward to @Astar21 🤗

Eek I’m so excited for you! @Blueskies4 I honestly would’ve been so skeptical before but now I totally think it’s possible. Because I’ve been feeling baby at least once everyday. I feel there must be so many factors like where baby has implanted and the placenta and everything. But it’s so exciting to think of them moving around in there 🥹

oh no that sounds really awful! @kl1999 I’m so sorry that you had to go through that. That’s really bad. I can’t believe they didn’t have the records that this is a new pregnancy. They have really dropped the ball. I know it’s different from trust to trust but I would try to find a phone number (google) for the community midwife office and see if they can help you arrange a scan. I’ve found the GP midwives very difficult to get a hold of. Even the ones I can find phone numbers for their phone is always off and I leave a voicemail and then never hear anything back. That’s just been my personal experience with my pregnancies 🙈

Alternatively you could go to the scan at the 2nd choice hospital just to get the ball rolling and get the tests done for baby that need to be done before 14 weeks and then afterwards make clear you want to give birth elsewhere. I’ve been told you can change hospitals right up until you give birth basically. I’m so sorry that you’ve been left in limbo. I think these days the NHS (although amazing) is very short staffed and we sometimes have to really push and advocate for ourselves unfortunately.

HopefulBee · 16/03/2023 18:16

@kl1999 Im so sorry to hear that. What a horrible thing for them to not have registered the mc properly. Poor you. I hope you get things sorted quickly and get to have your scan where you want it. Or if that’s not possible, I would also do what @CaliGirl47 suggested and switch hospitals later. Good luck and keep us updated how it goes!

To everyone feeling baby move - I asked me midwife because I thought I felt sth at 12 weeks - a tiny flutter. She said it’s not impossible. Anyway I haven’t felt anything this last week but I have an anterior placenta so that may be why. With my DC1 I had that too but oddly enough felt her move right from 16 weeks onwards, so hoping it’ll be similar this time. So exciting for everyone already feeling baby! I hope to at least see a wriggle at tomorrows scan 🤞🤞.

Houseelf90 · 16/03/2023 18:48

Good luck for your scan tomorrow @HopefulBee and anyone else that has one coming up this week 🥰

CaliGirl47 · 16/03/2023 20:37

All the best for your scan tomorrow. @HopefulBee I hope you get a nice clear view of a lovely wiggly baby 🌈👶🏼😍
