Hello ladies
I'm 44 and had 4 previous miscarriages..... Found out last wk I'm pregnant and incredibly anxious after so many losses and my age. Lack of symptoms aren't helping besides the stretching twinges.

Is anyone joining me in this journey?

@HopefulBee and @00Bubbles00 that is really helpful and reassuring, thanks. It has settled down completely with lots of rest (I worked from bed yesterday!) so I really feel it was growing pains and nothing more serious.

@00Bubbles00 huge congrats on your NIPT results and that it’s a little girl! Hopefully now the fun part of picking a name has begun!

Blueskies4 · 11/03/2023 09:37

@00Bubbles00 congratualtions on your tests and little girl, what a lovely thing to find out 💫

I had loads of ligament pain in my daughters pregancy, to the point that I’d get shooting pains when I sneezed because of the tightening of my muscles and it was all lower abdomen. I’ve had lots of different pains this time too (and some have felt like period pains, which combined with the bleeding is of course scary) but then when I’ve had scans baby has been ok. Hope this helps anyway experiencing stomach pains xx

Houseelf90 · 11/03/2023 11:05

@Blueskies4 I’ve had really sharp pains with sneezing and coughing! Was worrying to begin with but I’ve got used to it and read someone else had been having the same which was reassuring!

CaliGirl47 · 11/03/2023 11:52

Thanks all for sharing your experiences it is very reassuring. Things seem to have settled down now so I’m hoping it was just stretching pains. I was trying to remember when the uterus moves up out of the pelvis. I think it could be about now. So maybe that has something to do with it since I don’t have that “heavy” feeling anymore. I don’t even feel pregnant today, the nausea has really eased off. I do feel very emotional though 🥲 I’ve burst into tears today at making it to 12 weeks. It feels like such a milestone

wow congratulations on the great results! That’s so exciting about a baby girl 💗💝 @00Bubbles00 I feel like once I know the gender that’s when I get tempted to start buying lots of clothes 🙈

CaliGirl47 · 11/03/2023 12:02

I’ve just checked my app to see the results of my blood work and the downs/edwards/patau are all low risk which is good. But there’s a note about testing positive for group B strep. I assume the hospital will contact me and let me know if there’s any treatment I need but now I’m a bit panicked about it affecting baby during pregnancy. I know it can be an issue during labour. I didn’t even think they routinely tested for it. Just wondering, has anyone had any experience with this?

HopefulBee · 12/03/2023 17:22

@CaliGirl47 sorry I can‘t help, have no experience with that. I hope you are not too worried - the hospital would probably have called already if it was serious.

hope everyone else is doing well. I’m still exhausted and a little nauseous but we started to tell a few people and are very happy about it. ☺️

Tinkerbell098 · 13/03/2023 08:55

@CaliGirl47 they haven't checked this for me, so didn't think it was a routine check either. I thought it's only if you have a UTI that you'd get tested. Have you had one recently? I've also heard that it's only an issue when giving birth, that it could get passed on to the baby, so don't think it's a concern at this stage. Definitely speak to them about it though to make sure. As I said, they haven't checked mine, suggesting it's most likely nothing to worry about at this stage.

Astar21 · 13/03/2023 19:24

I hope everyone is doing okay?
I had my scan today and everything is looking great! Baby was very active and wouldn't stay still for long! Measuring 13w4d 🌈 so relieved to have finally got this far.
I hope those of you with scans this week get on okay ❤️

Houseelf90 · 13/03/2023 19:41

That’s great news @Astar21! I have mine on Wednesday and I’m really excited but also anxious! I’ve had really bad nausea today and yesterday, though I’ve also had a migraine. Hoping the nausea is a good sign and that all will be ok Wednesday 🤞🏼

Luna57 · 13/03/2023 20:27

Hope everyone is ok! I’m just over 15 weeks and have official popped. This is baby number 2 and I’m massive. DH hasn’t told his family and only my very immediate family know so we maybe tell others soon before the baggy jumpers can’t hide the massive belly anymore. No one told me about when you’re pregnant with subsequents that your stomach muscles pop like a guitar string snapping. Feels like a 30 week kick really scares me when it happens. I had to chase up my midwife today over my consultant referral and of course like I suspected she forgot so hopefully next week I’ll have my official due date and see baby again! I’m doing everything in my power not to overthink gender old wives tales I really want this one to be a surprise. Is anyone else wanting a wee surprise?

Houseelf90 · 13/03/2023 20:37

@Luna57 how frustrating that you’ve had to wait as you were forgotten! Glad you’re hopefully getting sorted now! We’re also hoping to keep it a surprise 🥰

CaliGirl47 · 14/03/2023 07:40

That’s wonderful news! @Astar21 so nice to see a wriggly active bub on the screen. 🥰🌈👶🏼 So pleased for you!

thanks @HopefulBee and @Tinkerbell098 I haven’t heard anything from the hospital but I have been feeling a bit unwell these past few days. Not sure about a UTI but in general o just feel very tired and sore. Hard to know what’s what and what’s normal pregnancy fatigue 😅 I feel like I could sleep all day and all night. But thankfully the nausea has really eased off. I’ve left a voicemail for my midwife yesterday but haven’t heard anything back yet.

Very exciting about your scan tomorrow I hope it goes well @Houseelf90

That sounds really uncomfortable @Luna57 😦 I do hope it eases off for you. I didn’t know the muscles could actually snap like that. I feel massive as well already and I’m only 12 weeks with DC2 😂 dread to think how big I’ll be by the end. That’s very exciting about keeping it a surprise 💛💚💛 I wish I was as patient as you. That’s going to be such a lovely surprise.

pinkpirlie · 14/03/2023 07:55

Congratulations on the positive scans and test results. It's all starting to get real as we all nudge closer to dating scans and second trimester!! Good luck to everyone having scans this week. 💐

@Houseelf90 how was your day in the office?
I couldn't hide the fact I'm pregnant, as my tummy is definitely starting to stick out. When I told my female colleague, she said she thought I was. The men, didn't have a clue!
Scan is in a few hours, so nervous now I've told people other than close friends and family. But I had 3 positive scans now, and baby definitely seems to be growing.
Good luck with yours too!!

I also finally had my booking in, after chasing the midwife service end of last week and I had been "lost in the system". I was really surprised she said I was low risk despite my age and weight.

To those having cramps and pains, I've been having them too. I told the midwife and she wasn't concerned and said she would refer me to physio if they get worse as some days I struggle to walk by an evening.

Houseelf90 · 14/03/2023 08:11

Thank you @CaliGirl47, I’ll update on here once we’ve been!

@pinkpirlie good luck for your scan!! Haha that’s so funny about the men being clueless, so typical! I’m in the office today, I’ve used the rubbish weather as a great excuse to wear a hoody so hopefully it’s not as noticeable as I’m definitely looking bigger (although I still think I’ve just got fatter rather than the start of a bump lol). I’ll also be in the office before and after my scan tomorrow as work is closer to the hospital than home, so all being well I will tell a few people in the office when I get back!

HopefulBee · 14/03/2023 08:21

@Astar21 congrats on the positive scan! Very happy for you.

@Luna57 @pinkpirlie @CaliGirl47 I also have a bit of a belly already at just 13 weeks and quite surprised as with DC1 it took until sth like 20 weeks to start showing. Am also putting on weight quicker which is freaking me out a bit. We want to find out what we are having btw, I liked how I could bond with DC1 after I knew, but can also see how exciting it would be not to know.

@Houseelf90 and @pinkpirlie , good luck for your scans this week!

I had a bit of a scare last night. Just before bed I noticed some very very slightly pink discharge. It was really very faint, but looked different to normal. DH said not to worry, it didn’t look bad at all, but I was worrying all night. Nothing so far this morning so I hope it was just because I exercised quite a bit yesterday evening, but somehow my carefree feeling is gone and I’m feeling anxious again. Have a scan this Friday and am very nervous. Was going to tell colleagues today but am holding off now for fear something is wrong. Hate this PAL business. 😢

Houseelf90 · 14/03/2023 09:54

@HopefulBee bless you, the worrying is awful isn’t it. I would take it as a positive that you’ve not had any more though. Hopefully the week doesn’t drag too much before your scan on Friday, sending positive vibes!

Astar21 · 14/03/2023 11:02

Thank you for all your well wishes ❤️
I also feel like my belly has already popped at 13w. Still managing to hide in baggy jumpers for now until I'm ready to tell more people!

This journey is such a rollercoaster.
Hope you're okay @HopefulBee I had pale pink spotting on just one wipe at 9w and panicked but all was well. Apparently all the hormones can make the cervix extra sensitive. I know it's hard but try and stay positive ✨

@Luna57 @Houseelf90 I'm also wanting to keep it a surprise. DH wasn't so keen but I've managed to persuade him 😂❤️

pinkpirlie · 14/03/2023 11:02

@Houseelf90 mine is just my fat sticking out more, it certainly doesn't look like a baby bump. But as I've been so sick I've lost weight so I knew it was baby rather than me getting fatter.

@HopefulBee hopefully it was just a bit of unusual colour discharge rather than anything sinister. Friday will roll around quicker than it feels now. And hopefully the scan will help put your mind at ease.

I'm just back from my scan. It was a good scan, in that the baby has grown, it has a heart beat, and baby was moving around but my cervix tilts which make it hard for them to get a good picture.
They couldn't really see the baby in any detail at all. The tried to measure it, but it was such a poor view they struggled to get a stable reading and they weren't able to do any screening tests as you couldn't make out any features. I have to go back next Wednesday for a rescan.

Houseelf90 · 14/03/2023 18:20

@pinkpirlie how did your scan go? I can’t wait to get an actual bump so I don’t just look fat 🙈 I see so many people saying they’re lucky that they’ve fitted in their normal clothes for so long but no I just want to look pregnant now 🤣 I’m sure I’ll regret saying that when I’m waddling around in the summer heat with a bump!

Houseelf90 · 14/03/2023 18:21

@pinkpirlie sorry I’ve just seen your update about your scan 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ good news that baby has a heart beat and was moving around!

Littleheart5 · 14/03/2023 19:56

I had my 12 week scan this evening and got my NIPT results- low risk for NIPT and scan looked really good, baby was kicking around which was lovely to see! The cramping I had last week seems to be have been ligament pain, such a relief. We’re not finding out the gender but it looks a boy to me. Best of luck with everyone yet to go this week

Houseelf90 · 14/03/2023 21:06

So pleased for you @Littleheart5 🥰

HopefulBee · 15/03/2023 05:46

Thank you for your reassuring words, @Houseelf90 , @Astar21 and @pinkpirlie. And happy to hear your scan went well pinkpirlie.

@Littleheart5 great news! You must be very relieved.

Everything went back to normal for me so now I’m just waiting to see if everything is ok on Friday and getting the NIPT results - hopefully soon!

HopefulBee · 15/03/2023 05:47

Oh and good luck with your scan today @Houseelf90 !

Houseelf90 · 15/03/2023 05:54

Thank you @HopefulBee, I haven’t slept very well through a mix of nerves and excitement so as much as I’m looking forward to the scan, I’m also looking forward to bedtime tonight 🤣
