Hello ladies
I'm 44 and had 4 previous miscarriages..... Found out last wk I'm pregnant and incredibly anxious after so many losses and my age. Lack of symptoms aren't helping besides the stretching twinges.

Is anyone joining me in this journey?

@pinkpirlie thats typical about your office day isn’t it!! I think if the worst happened, I would most likely take some time off work and would therefore probably tell most if not all of my team anyway, we are a fairly small team (9 including me) and we are all very friendly/close.
@HopefulBee I completely understand why some people wait but I also don’t feel the need to keep it a massive secret. The people I’ve told so far are all people I would tell if the worst should happen, so they may as well share the happy and exciting part with us rather than just the doom and gloom should it happen. We told my family a couple of weekends ago as we were all together for my mums birthday and we told my partners family last weekend. They all knew that we’d had losses in the past so we wanted to share the happy part this time!

Astar21 · 06/03/2023 21:39

@CaliGirl47 congratulations 💓 so happy for you! You must be so relieved and chuffed to be able to share the news 🥰

So far I've told my parents and a couple of close friends, which has been amazing for support. Hoping after the scan next week we can share the news with the rest of the family and a few more friends 🤞🏼 Then I guess it'll all start feeling a bit more real!

12w tomorrow and time to stop taking the folic acid, which is going to seem strange!

log51 · 07/03/2023 10:14

Hi @00Bubbles00 I was also in a Zika country right at the start of pregnancy. What I've done for peace of mind is get a private test from Medichecks - www.medichecks.com/products/zika-virus-antibodies-blood-test-flavivirus haven't had the results yet, but had my first midwife appointment yest and had also spoken to GP about it and neither seemed very concerned at all and haven't referred me to a consultant (although sure they will if the test came back positive)

HopefulBee · 07/03/2023 17:47

@Astar21 were you told to stop folic acid? I’m taking it as part of other prenatal vitamins and am not planning to stop. Didn’t with my first either. Just curious, I guess different practices tell you different things and I know it’s just really important for that first trimester.

Astar21 · 07/03/2023 18:15

@HopefulBee oh really, that's interesting. Yes both the RMClinic and midwife at my booking appointment told me no need to take it past 12 weeks. But I'll carry on taking Vitamin D, B and omega 3

Houseelf90 · 07/03/2023 18:26

@HopefulBee @Astar21 I’m on a high dose folic acid for anaemia (been on it a couple of years) and my midwife has advised to switch from that to a pregnancy vitamin (I’ve been taking other vits separately because I already get the high amount of folic acid) from 12 weeks! Seems everywhere is different!

Astar21 · 07/03/2023 18:29

@Houseelf90 ah okay. Yes it does! It's such a minefield 🤯😂

Houseelf90 · 07/03/2023 18:42

@Astar21 I just assumed I’d carry on taking the high dose throughout, given that I needed it before but my midwife seemed confident that I’d be ok given the regular blood tests etc!

Blueskies4 · 07/03/2023 22:40

@CaliGirl47 ahhh congratulations on your beaut scan. Such lovely news to share with your DD ❤️

@00Bubbles00 glad you’re managing m to keep yourself busy and lovely news on your 10 week scan x

@HopefulBee thank you.. I’ve had 7 week NHS and last weekend private so I think I’ll book another maybe a week on Saturday and then my dating scan will be 10 days later :) good to hear your MWs were unconcerned because there’s 0 info out there about it, I just know the private clinic ask you to confirm there’s been at least 1 week since your last US.

@Goneaboutthiswrong lovely news on your scan 💕 I’ve got a SCH too, no fun at all is it, finding the blood every time I visit the toilet super stressful!

@pinkpirlie @Tinkerbell098 thank you, always good to hear of similar experiences 🙏🏼

poochielagrande · 08/03/2023 05:51

Hello lovelies, I had my 10w4d scan yesterday and it was an abdominal one, again we were measuring ahead. We saw hands and feet movements, with strong hb. I was a total wreck prior to the scan and couldn’t shake the feeling that it would go wrong…

HopefulBee · 08/03/2023 07:39

@poochielagrande what a lovely picture of your little one! Happy for you that all went well. I have my dating scan today and am very nervous too, though hoping that after two positive scans already all Will good well.

anyone else have their 12 week scan today? @Passenger87 i seem to remember we both had Scans coming up around the same time? Hope you’re doing well!

poochielagrande · 08/03/2023 08:07

@HopefulBee good luck today!!

also for those of you having their scans this week!! ❤️

Passenger87 · 08/03/2023 09:22

Hi @HopefulBee thanks for checking in. I have been EXHAUSTED so fell off the face of the earth! I had my scan yesterday. Heard the hb, just perfect! Very emotional for us both.

Been told i have to do elcs but kinda expected that.

Good luck in your scan today! Hope bub does a little dance for you x

Astar21 · 08/03/2023 11:03

@poochielagrande amazing news ❤️ lovely scan picture!

@Passenger87 congratulations ❤️ so happy for you!

@HopefulBee good luck today ❤️

HopefulBee · 08/03/2023 11:31

@Passenger87 wonderful news! I don’t know what Elcs is but glad everything looked fine.

My baby didn’t dance for us as s/he was apparently asleep but saw a strong heartbeat. Was a bit worried about lack of movement but midwife said all looks good and no movement is totally fine. Also, I measured 12+1 which is a whole week more than I calculated with my ovulation sticks. So both DH and I are a little confused as to how that’s possible 👀. Absolutely delighted to be close to 2nd trimester, how just waiting for NIPT results and 13 week scan which will come in in about 10 days.🤞Thanks @Astar21 for the nice wishes.

Passenger87 · 08/03/2023 13:02

Thanks ladies!

@HopefulBee ah you have a nice relaxed little bean! Nice and comfy in there. With my first I used to drink Fanta before scans trying to make her move haha!

Elcs is an elective csection. So ill be brought in a week before. Its due to a number of risk factors.

CaliGirl47 · 08/03/2023 13:49

Thanks ladies for all the well wishes. It feels like the more people I tell the more real it becomes. And my DD was over the moon. She won’t stop kissing my belly now 🥹 can’t wait to start feeling real kicks. 👶🏼 And hopefully we can find out the gender next month with our family. 💗💙

so pleased that all went well for you @poochielagrande what a lovely clear picture of baby. 😍

that’s great news about your scan as well @Passenger87 and it’s nice to know that you are in good hands and your health care team is prepared in advance with your birth plan. 💗

wow a whole week ahead! @HopefulBee that’s amazing! So pleased for you lovely. 🌼 Clearly baby is growing very nicely in there. 👶🏼 Not long now until the second trimester 🥳

Littleheart5 · 08/03/2023 17:18

So delighted for you all with your good scans- we are getting there ladies- this first trimester has felt like a marathon!!

HopefulBee · 09/03/2023 10:33

Thank you @Passenger87 , @CaliGirl47 and @Littleheart5 ! We really are so close now. For me the first trimester was both incredibly long and went by in a flash. Having an active toddler definitely helps time pass but also going to bed at 8 kind of cuts the days short a bit. But still it drags when you’re worried doesn’t it

Astar21 · 09/03/2023 11:10

@HopefulBee congratulations on your scan ❤️ little bub sounds like their nice and snug! And wow measuring a week ahead that's amazing.

It really has felt like a marathon 😂

00Bubbles00 · 09/03/2023 23:13

I take it all back - time has officially slowed to a stop. I am waiting for NIPT results and my 12 week scan next Wednesday. Apparently every day is now a million hours long!

Littleheart5 · 10/03/2023 07:49

Think we’re on the same schedule @00Bubbles00 ! Waiting for NIPT too and 12 week scan on Tuesday.

I was at my GP last night as I had bad cramping the last two days, although no blood. She couldn’t rule out a mc and said it a possibility. I decided to wait until my appointment next Tuesday to see consultant. cramping has settled down for now. Only other option was to go to A&E, I spent 8 hours there each time I had a mc before and I just can’t do it again. Hopefully cramping/pain was just muscle pain as I haven’t got this far before, and/or was sitting in a very uncomfortable office chair when in work. But if it’s going to pass I’d rather it happened at home

CaliGirl47 · 10/03/2023 13:22

So sorry to hear about your cramping @Littleheart5 I’m glad it has started to settle down for you now. I do hope the weekend flies by for your and your scan on Tuesday rolls around quickly.

I have had something similar today. I am 11+6 today and all day I’ve had an uncomfortable heavy feeling in my uterus along with back pain. Feels like a cramping sensation like when my period is about to start. But no bleeding. I’m just trying to take it easy today and hopefully it’s just soreness from baby growing and everything stretching. I thought it was worth mentioning though, so you know you are not alone. 💓

00Bubbles00 · 10/03/2023 13:59

@Littleheart5 @CaliGirl47 just as a reassurance, I had cramping in my first pregnancy all the way through, but particularly in the first 20 weeks. I was told it was all the ligaments and muscles stretching and getting used to the additional blood flow etc. All was completely fine.

I got my NIPT back this morning, low risk and a girl! I was shaking when I opened the email. Now the 12 week scan to get to and maybe I will start to feel a bit more like I can celebrate a little bit!

HopefulBee · 10/03/2023 14:54

@CaliGirl47 and @Littleheart5 i can echo what bubbles is saying. In my first pregnancy I had cramps or pain in my lower belly on and off until at least 17 weeks. I remember some of the pains keeping me up at night with worry. But it was just the uterus stretching. Now with this pregnancy I only had cramps in the first few weeks, I think because my body did all The stretching once before, it finds it easier now. Am certainly growing quicker this time. Hopefully that is all it is for you too!

@00Bubbles00 congratulations on your little girl and finding out all is ok with the NIPT, cannot wait for my results now. Won’t be told the gender now as it’s not allowed to find out through blood test here.
