Hello ladies
I'm 44 and had 4 previous miscarriages..... Found out last wk I'm pregnant and incredibly anxious after so many losses and my age. Lack of symptoms aren't helping besides the stretching twinges.

Is anyone joining me in this journey?

Oh wow, that’s so exciting! I feel like the twelve week scan is such a huge milestone. Do let us know how it goes on Monday. 🤗✨🌈👶🏼 @Tinkerbell098

A babymoon is not within our budget this time unfortunately. Second baby is gonna be getting lots of hand me downs from DD. Hopefully DC2 will be a girl so all the baby clothes and dresses in the loft can be passed down. Anyways, when I was pregnant with DD we had much more expendable income and had a a babymoon in lanzarote. It was so nice to just chill out and sit by the pool lounging around. I was nervous before we got there. And I think I was around 26 weeks or so. I made sure to google the nearest hospital to our resort just in case of emergency and made sure all our travel insurance was up to date and there were no dodgy pregnancy clauses. But once we were there it was so blissful. ☀️🌅🌴🌊So nice to have some alone time before the sleepless nights of a newborn phase. Haha. So I would definitely recommend a holiday if you have the budget for it. It’s a nice way to mark the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new one.

HopefulBee · 22/02/2023 16:59

@Tinkerbell098 you’re so close to the 12 week mark! Fingers crossed for Monday. 🤞🤞

@pinkpirlie indeed it’s harder the smaller they are. My definitive date will be determined at the 12 week scan. Hope tomorrow goes well and shows a well growing baby.

@Passenger87 I went to the Netherlands last time when pregnant with my daughter and though it was really nice to have some time away just the two of us, it was cold and windy and I was exhausted from walking. I was 29 weeks though. This time we booked a holiday to Sardegna when I’m 26-28 weeks. Couldn’t help it, we couldn’t pick other dates due to our jobs. Am worried about sitting in the sun too long but we have a toddler with us now so I guess we won’t be able to bake in the sun anyway. Just hope it will be the relaxing last family of three holiday we wish for. Especially as the prices are really insane right now…

Houseelf90 · 22/02/2023 20:05

@pinkpirlie thank you, I definitely think they’re helping so far! Did you manage to speak to the Dr? I’m very lucky that I’ve not actually been sick for a while, but whenever I have a drink I feel like it’s sitting at the top of my throat so I know what you mean about liquids! Hope you get something sorted x

Astar21 · 22/02/2023 20:39

I'm going to Spain on a girls holiday for a long weekend at the end of April, will be 18 weeks by then. Was booked before I found out I was pregnant, but it's all inclusive and on the beach, so plan to probably drink mocktails and not go anywhere as such 😂
Then in the summer we decided to book a cottage in the UK for a week. I think I'll feel a bit more relaxed doing that by then and means we don't have to leave the dog behind 😂😁

Blueskies4 · 22/02/2023 23:03

@Passenger87 @HopefulBee lovely news on your scans 💕

@poochielagrande welcome and congratulations x

@pinkpirlie so odd how the processes are different dependant on area isn’t it.. you don’t get your 12 week scan until you’ve been booked in here, and first bloods are at the booking. Reassurance scan is on 4/3, so I’ll be 9+6 x

pinkpirlie · 23/02/2023 08:18

@Houseelf90 yes I got some cyclizine and I have to say the nausea has really reduced significantly (I was also gifted some anti-sickness bands which I put on about the time I took the meds). I managed to drink 1ltr of water over yesterday evening and over night which is more than I've drank in a week or so.

@Blueskies4 it really is random how everywhere is different. My bloods were taken last week, but no booking in proper yet. I got the scan appointment through direct from the hospital but the midwife is via the local community team I think.

Sounds like some of you have some lovely trips planned before baby arrives.

I've had a near constant pain in the same place for several days when moving, slightly to the left of my pubic bone. I'm assuming I've pulled a muscle wretching, but still making me anxious as it doesn't seem to be getting better. Will be hoping the scan later will reassure me there isn't anything wrong. Has anyone else had anything like that?

Houseelf90 · 23/02/2023 09:09

@pinkpirlie ahh pleased you got something sorted and it seems to be helping 😊

Houseelf90 · 23/02/2023 11:23

I’ve just had my scan date through for 15th March, should be bang on 12 weeks according to the dates from my early scan, or 12+1 based on LMP! The next 3 weeks are really going to drag, but it’s also crazy that in 3 weeks time we could be sharing our exciting news a little further! 😬🤞🏼

pinkpirlie · 23/02/2023 11:43

@Houseelf90 yey for the scan appointment. It's the day after mine :)

Houseelf90 · 23/02/2023 11:47

@pinkpirlie ahh I hope yours goes well! Have you had your private scan yet? I think you said you were having one this week? (Sorry if I’ve missed your update about it 🙈)

Luna57 · 23/02/2023 11:48

@Houseelf90 how’re you getting on with your meds? I never seen a doctor to get my cyclizine it was the receptionist who put through the prescription and never asked if I was actually vomiting or nauseous so I think cyclizine must be the first meds they prescribe here. I seen a midwife at just over 7 weeks for a scan and was surprised I’d stayed on it because of how sleepy it makes you. I’m still taking 1-2 tablets a day I really try and push it as long as possible but also found milk is a trigger for me atm so I’ve had no cups of tea or cereal which is my favourite things in the morning 😭 hoping it all eases soon I’m just over 12 weeks now.

pinkpirlie · 23/02/2023 12:08

@Houseelf90 it's this evening, 9+6. So nervous!!

@Luna57 I started cyclizine yesterday. I'm a bit yawney, but okay at the moment. Much better than being unable to function or move from the sickness though. My sickness was definitely induced by motion and liquids. So happy to be drinking water again. The nausea is there still, but manageable now.

Houseelf90 · 23/02/2023 12:28

@Luna57 they seem to be working! I’ve had a headache since yesterday morning but that’s not uncommon for me so I don’t want to blame the tablets just yet! I’ll see how it goes over the next couple of days though! I love a cup of tea in the morning so I feel for you!!

@pinkpirlie ahh I hope it goes well for you 💕

Astar21 · 23/02/2023 13:20

@Houseelf90 yay! Mine is on the 13th March. Sounds like a few of us have them that week. I'm telling myself it's going to come round fast 🫣😂

Houseelf90 · 23/02/2023 13:33

@Astar21 yes it looks like it!! We’ll have to get a list of due dates together once everyone’s had their scans!
Some parts seem to be going really quickly and some really dragging! I found out I was pregnant early this time at less than 4 weeks, so on Sunday it’ll be 6 weeks since I found out which just seems crazy as it’s gone so fast, but the time waiting for appointments/scans really drags!

Vwswimmer1 · 23/02/2023 14:27

I've got a scan on Tuesday 🤞🏼 and then my dating scan on Friday 17th March. Still feeling very sick and exhausted so hoping everything is okay and my body isn't playing a horrible trick on me...

We've booked to go away in May, all inclusive for the week somewhere warm so hopefully it'll be nice and relaxing.

pinkpirlie · 23/02/2023 18:24

I had my scan earlier, everything was good. Big sigh of relief.
Baby measuring 10 weeks exactly which puts me at 21/9 due date (which aligns with NHS website when inputting my 27 day cycle). Heard the heart beat, saw fingers and toes. Very beautiful. Lots of tears.

Houseelf90 · 23/02/2023 18:39

@Vwswimmer1 another 12 week scan for that week! Good luck for your scan on Tuesday!

@pinkpirlie ahhh that’s so special 🥰 so pleased for you!

HopefulBee · 23/02/2023 19:04

@pinkpirlie that’s great! So happy for you. We are only 2 weeks away from the 12 week mark now 🤞🌈.

Astar21 · 23/02/2023 19:35

@Houseelf90 yes sounds good! I've also known for 6 weeks, it's gone fast thinking back but also feels like a long time already 😂 and hard to keep it secret from people for much longer!

@pinkpirlie that's amazing 😍 sounds lovely and such a relief to know everything is good at 10 weeks!

Blueskies4 · 23/02/2023 20:36

Congratulations @pinkpirlie 🤗

CaliGirl47 · 23/02/2023 20:39

I’m so thrilled for you @pinkpirlie that sounds absolutely magical 🥰✨🌈👶🏼

So exciting about all these scans coming up! Feels like we’re getting closer to a big milestone.

I received my appointment through the post today for my clinic and 12 week scan (my hospital do blood work and scan all at the same appointment I think) it says allow 4 hours for the appointment time 😳It’s on March 6th and I’ll only be 11+2 by then, so I wonder if they will still be able to do all the usual screenings and tests for things. If not then I suppose they’ll just ask me to come back again? I’m just surprised that the scan is so early. I wasn't expecting anything until i was closer to 12-14 weeks. I’m not complaining though 🤭😂

pinkpirlie · 23/02/2023 22:14

@CaliGirl47 the NHS says the following re screening tests:
"You'll be offered screening for Down's syndrome, Edwards' syndrome and Patau's syndrome around the time of your dating scan, which happens when you're around 11 to 14 weeks pregnant."
So hopefully 11+2 will be okay.

HopefulBee · 24/02/2023 07:55

@CaliGirl47 where I live you have to book the blood test yourself, and the midwife told me anything 11 weeks and after is fine. With my daughter I did the test at 11+1. So I think you should be fine.

I have my dating scan at 11+5 this time, 8 March.

By the way, do they do a 13 week anatomy scan in the UK? Where I live they didn’t do it when I was pregnant with my daughter but now regulations have changed and this time they will do a 13 week and a 20 week anatomy scan.

Littleheart5 · 24/02/2023 09:47

I’m having the NIPT done privately @CaliGirl47 and have it booked in for 10+3 (on their recommendation) so definitely not too soon
