Hello ladies
I'm 44 and had 4 previous miscarriages..... Found out last wk I'm pregnant and incredibly anxious after so many losses and my age. Lack of symptoms aren't helping besides the stretching twinges.

Is anyone joining me in this journey?

No symptoms whatsoever for me @Houseelf90 which is really worrying me. I’ve gone from being flat out tired to fine most days, no nausea where I’d normally have quite a sensitive stomach in day to day life! Was with my GP on Friday and she said to be thankful I don’t feel ill, but I’d be a lot more reassured if I did. I’ve a scan booked for the 14th, which seems a long way off for reassurance. I’m 6 weeks in 2 days so hopefully it’s just that symptoms havent fully kicked in yet rather than a mmc, which I’ve had before

Blueskies4 · 30/01/2023 12:37

Ah congratulations @pinkpirlie that’s wonderful news 😄

Glad they’ve got you booked in for a scan @CaliGirl47 hopefully it comes around quickly for you.

I read someone say a while ago that she always took the approach of “today I am pregnant “ to help her take it one day at a time and I thought that was a nice way of looking at it! I’ve been trying to tell myself that if I start obsessing!

Goneaboutthiswrong · 30/01/2023 12:56

Unfortunately for me, after some brown spotting last week (which I then had a scan and saw a heartbeat at 7+3) I’ve now been bleeding like a period since Saturday night (red blood, no clots) I’ve had no pain whatsoever, I’m still taking progesterone as advised by EPU and I don’t have another scan until 7th. Not sure what to think at the moment. Could it be a very slow and painless MC? The blood is now only there when I wipe and not leaking on a pad at all.
My previous Mc have progressed quickly and were very painful. Anyone have any experience of this?

Tinkerbell098 · 30/01/2023 12:59

@Goneaboutthiswrong I'm sorry to hear this but keeping everything crossed that it's nothing serious. Could you maybe ring up EPU to get a scan sooner? No pain is always a good thing so I'm hoping it's just a normal pregnancy bleed.

Houseelf90 · 30/01/2023 13:08

@Goneaboutthiswrong I would try to get an earlier scan as @Tinkerbell098 says.
No pain is definitely a positive, and many women do bleed and still have a successful pregnancy but it is so worrying when you’ve had losses in the past isn’t it.
I hope you get some answers soon 🤞🏼

Goneaboutthiswrong · 30/01/2023 13:09

@Tinkerbell098 thank you! I did give them a ring, but as I already have an appointment next week they said just keep that one and advised to keep taking progesterone. I have a midwife appointment tomorrow so hoping she can shed some light, if not, at least refer me sooner.
Honestly it’s the lack of pain that’s confusing me!

Houseelf90 · 30/01/2023 13:10

@Littleheart5 it's certainly changed my view on what is “lucky” or not with symptoms in pregnancy. I hate the thought of being sick everyday but I would certainly take it over the stress and anxiety of not knowing!! I guess there’s no guarantee even with sickness etc everyday but I’d feel a lot more chill than I do now!!

pinkpirlie · 30/01/2023 16:06

@Goneaboutthiswrong so sorry to hear about you have even more anxiety with bleeding again. You really have been put through the ringer. I hope you get some answers at the midwife tomorrow. It is such a shame they won't give you a scan sooner than next week. I would keep on at them? Can you perhaps speak to your doctor if the midwife can't help? I have to speak to the doctor for the EPAU as you can't self refer. They may have more clout.

Will be thinking of you!! 💜

HopefulBee · 30/01/2023 18:03

@pinkpirlie great news that your scan went well, very happy for you!

@Goneaboutthiswrong hope it turns out to be normal pregnancy bleeding. I hear it is more common than we think. I have a scan on the 8th and it also still feels so long away… let’s hope it comes around quickly for us both.

@Littleheart5 we are almost the same! I am 6 weeks tomorrow and just started getting nauseous. I’m worried because I don’t need to pee loads and my boobs are normal, so I guess whatever symptoms we have or don’t have we will worry anyway. It’s really such a tough ride. Really hope the best for all of us. Wouldn’t it be lovely if in 2 months time we can all enjoy a more relaxed pregnancy together? I can’t wait, but time is passing so slowly.

pinkpirlie · 30/01/2023 18:25

@HopefulBee thank you for the congratulations.

Time does seem to move so slowly, doesn't it. I've got my midwife appointment come through today and it's in 2 and a bit weeks. So that's the next milestone to anxiously await.

I'm about 6+4 now and my sickness went up a notch last Friday. I'd gone almost a week with no symptoms at that point, then threw up unexpectedly, and suddenly and have done every day since.

I agree it will be so nice when in a couple of months, we can (fingers crossed) all be a little more relaxed and enjoy awaiting our new bubbas.

Littleheart5 · 30/01/2023 18:28

@HopefulBee time is passing so slowly, it feels to me like every day is just inching along! Glad to be on the same time scale as someone else. Your symptoms sound a bit more progressed than mine so I hope that gives you some reassurance. I can’t wait for the start of April, hopefully everything okay and we can all start to enjoy this time

Goneaboutthiswrong · 30/01/2023 19:04

@pinkpirlie thank you for the advice I will get onto the doctors tomorrow too. I’m really glad your scan went well today, there’s nothing like seeing a heartbeat straight away!
And thank you to all you lovely people @Houseelf90 @HopefulBee @Tinkerbell098 for all the support, it really means a lot. I can’t say how thankful I feel to have found this site and community when you can’t speak to everyone around you - it’s much easier online!
I will keep you all updated and keep you all in my thoughts too x

Vwswimmer1 · 31/01/2023 14:21

How's everyone doing today?

Houseelf90 · 31/01/2023 15:31

Hi @Vwswimmer1! How are you?
I’m (probably stupidly) starting to relax a little. I’m now roughly 6 weeks (6+1 according to the NHS calculator taking into account my usual cycle length, 5+6 according to what the midwife has entered into my notes, not taking into consideration my cycle length). The furthest I have been before is 5.5 weeks. I have read that the rate of loss drops from 20% to 5% from week 5 to 6 which is reassuring me slightly.
For the last couple of days my extreme tiredness and constant eating has returned so I’m also taking that as a positive!

Vwswimmer1 · 31/01/2023 17:09

@Houseelf90 I think starting to relax is good! I'm feeling quite relaxed too, had a few little panics with spotting but them had symptoms and decided how I feel won't change anything so trying to be positive.

How are people feeling about having sex? I've had it once since finding out but now become a bit nervous until my scan, which is probably stupid!

Passenger87 · 31/01/2023 17:26

Hi @Vwswimmer1 !

Ok here, pretty nervous about my next scan tomorrow should find out if viable/not viable/ ectopic.

I'm keeping myself as busy as I can. Anyone else exhausted?!

pinkpirlie · 31/01/2023 17:30

I know it's perfectly safe @Vwswimmer1 but I've really struggled with it, and said I want to wait a bit. Doesn't mean can't have other fun 🤣

Glad you're feeling a little better with your anxiety and you too @Houseelf90

The risk decreases once there is a heartbeat, which happens around week 6. Risk is also age and health dependent, so is higher for me at almost 40 and overweight than it would be for someone in their 20s of normal weight.

I had a letter through from my fertility consultant with a date for my next appointment (had been waiting ages before the BFP), so spoke to his secretary and they have asked me to go in for a check up even though I am now pregnant. So that's booked in tomorrow.

@Goneaboutthiswrong how are you doing today? 💜

Manorbier · 31/01/2023 17:37

Congratulations- excellent news !

HopefulBee · 31/01/2023 18:18

@Houseelf90 happy to hear you’re feeling more relaxed. Im also less anxious since I started feeling very nauseous. I know it doesn’t mean anything but I had it with my daughter so am crossing my fingers it’s a good sign. Means I feel awful all day long though 🤢.

@Vwswimmer1 i am also super tired - I go to bed around 8 every night right now and am still exhausted. Re sex I’m also hesitating right now though I know it’s fine. I think I’m worried about spotting and then freaking out.

@Passenger87 I got all my fingers crossed for your scan tomorrow. I hope it goes well and you get good news.

Tinkerbell098 · 31/01/2023 18:44

@Passenger87 all the best for the scan tomorrow. Will be thinking of you X

Houseelf90 · 31/01/2023 18:51

Thank you @pinkpirlie @Vwswimmer1 & @HopefulBee. I’m also anxious about sex. We have had it once since we found out, possibly twice but I can’t say I’ve massively enjoyed it, I’m worried about spotting afterwards. Has been fine so far so I guess I just need to relax a bit about it.

Sorry to hear about your nausea @HopefulBee. After feeling very nauseous yesterday I have felt fine today, but then I have eaten more regularly today so maybe that has helped.

Good luck for your scan @Passenger87

pinkpirlie · 31/01/2023 19:03

@Passenger87 good luck for your scan tomorrow.
And yes - also completely exhausted. I'm okay so long as I don't move, just once upstairs and I feel like I've climbed Everest!

Goneaboutthiswrong · 31/01/2023 19:22

Evening everyone, I had my first midwife appointment today and told her about the bleeding. She told me to call EPU with her referral whilst I was there, I didn’t go ahead with the rest of the appt with her. EPU have booked me on for tomorrow morning, although bleeding has subsided and is only
pink when wiping.
Good luck to @pinkpirlie for your appointment tomorrow too x
And I will be thinking of you tomorrow too @Passenger87 keeping my fingers crossed for us all!
@Vwswimmer1 whats sex?!? 😆

Houseelf90 · 31/01/2023 19:33

Good luck for your scan too @Goneaboutthiswrong!

Vwswimmer1 · 31/01/2023 19:47

@Goneaboutthiswrong hahaha 😅 hope your scan goes okay tomorrow
