Hello ladies
I'm 44 and had 4 previous miscarriages..... Found out last wk I'm pregnant and incredibly anxious after so many losses and my age. Lack of symptoms aren't helping besides the stretching twinges.

Is anyone joining me in this journey?

Thanks @Goneaboutthiswrong that sounds positive. The brown spotting stopped straight away, just still got this very mild cramping - only really aware of it when not doing anything but now hyper aware. Was feeling so positive before

Goneaboutthiswrong · 27/01/2023 18:32

@Vwswimmer1 the spotting wasn’t really explained to me when it came to the scan but they did tell me to only worry when it was red. I’ve also had mild cramping which I’m putting down to growing pains. It is very hard to keep positive, but just try not to worry, remain neutral lol
Is anyone else shocked that it’s STILL January?!? 12 weeks seems like forever away for me

HopefulBee · 27/01/2023 19:28

@Vwswimmer1 i had lots of cramps during my first pregnancy. Sometimes it kept me up at night because I was so worried. My daughter is now 17 months old, so cramping is really not a sign of anything bad unless it is accompanied by red blood. With my MC this November I had no cramping at all until waaay after the bleeding started. Hope this helps a bit. 🤗

Blueskies4 · 27/01/2023 20:25

@Mannymoomin I’m so sorry, look after yourself and fingers crossed for future x

Blueskies4 · 27/01/2023 20:26

Does anyone get crazy wind pain and think oh no they’re period cramps and then realise?! My heads just allover the place this time x

Houseelf90 · 27/01/2023 20:43

@Blueskies4 yes!!! I’ve had a couple of times when I’ve been convinced I’m starting to lose it…and then…..I realise it’s wind and the pain is gone! 🤣

Furbabymum15 · 27/01/2023 20:46

@Vwswimmer1 @Goneaboutthiswrong I'm also on progesterone and had brown spotting tonight..... I should be 8 wks in Sunday 😔

@Houseelf90 i can’t cope, pregnancy is a bloody rollercoaster.. like we don’t have enough to deal with without added wind!!!

@Furbabymum15 Hope you’re ok - completely get the tissue anxiety xx

@CaliGirl47 I don't really know where my head is at. DH is happy. I feel reluctant to get my hopes up.

They opted not to do a scan this morning until they got the numbers back. I suppose they are still quite low so maybe won't see anything yet?

I want this so badly but my history with both pregnancy, labour and loss is pretty chequered.

How are you feeling?

Hey there. Sorry for the late reply. I know just what you mean. Guarding our heart is like a protective mechanism because it’s so scary to think about getting our hopes dashed again. 😔 I really hope your next scan brings you some good news. @Passenger87 I’m doing okay. I’ve had a couple of down days. I’m 6 weeks today, and my last pregnancy (my mmc) I had really strong nausea from exactly six weeks. I have had hardly any symptoms this pregnancy. So I was hoping that the nausea would start from 6 weeks and bring me some reassurance. 🤷🏻‍♀️ It doesn’t really make sense, because I know in my head the nausea didn’t equal a successful pregnancy. Idk I guess I’m just looking for any clue that this pregnancy will go the distance. 🙏🏻

it’s really reassuring that things went well for you. Thank you for sharing your experience @R184

sorry to hear about your spotting @Vwswimmer1 I’ve always been told that brown discharge is old blood so not usually cause for alarm. Funnily enough my only successful pregnancy with DD I had some occasional brown spotting. I’ve never had brown spotting in any of my miscarriages. For whatever it’s worth, that’s my personal experience. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Sometimes old bleeding can be from something irritating the cervix. Like an ectropian on the cervix. I do hope you are feeling okay now. I know it can be upsetting. I wish you all the best. 💓

Passenger87 · 28/01/2023 23:07

@CaliGirl47 sorry to hear you've been down. I don't know if this helps but the only successful pregnancy I have had I had zero symptoms until the third trimester strangely enough. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you x

pinkpirlie · 29/01/2023 09:14

@CaliGirl47 sorry to hear you're struggling. After previous losses it seems it is impossible to relax and enjoy the pregnancy.
Are you booking an early scan?

@Blueskies4 I can completely relate to the wind stresses!

This thread has shown me that it doesn't matter if you have sickness/no sickness, spotting/no spotting, etc. it means absolutely nothing. Everyone has different experiences after different symptoms.
I'm really trying to focus on not symptoms spotting and turning to Dr Google, and it seems to have really helped my anxiety.

I have a scan today at 6+3. So hopefully will have the reassurance that things are okay, for now.

Tinkerbell098 · 29/01/2023 09:30

@CaliGirl47 sorry you're finding it hard. I completely get that. I don't know if it'll help, but I have zero symptoms to date and I'm 8+1 today. Everything looked fine on the scan on Tuesday so I've stopped worrying about no symptoms. All we can do is hope and stay positive that our bodies are doing everything it can to maintain this pregnancy. Have you got an early scan booked?

@pinkpirlie all the best for the scan today. Let us know how it goes X

Passenger87 · 29/01/2023 09:49

@pinkpirlie good luck in your scan today! I'll keep my fingers crossed 🤞 for you x

Blueskies4 · 29/01/2023 11:04

@CaliGirl47 sorry you’re feeling it so much lovely, I’m exactly the same. Everything crossed that it goes as smoothly as possible the next few weeks for you, there’s nothing quite like the anxiety in these early weeks.

@pinkpirlie good luck today xx

Blueskies4 · 29/01/2023 11:11

Also so true @pinkpirlie about what symptoms actually mean. I’ve said to my husband a couple of times that I wish I’d have kept a diary during my pregnancy with my daughter because I know I had spotting, cramps etc, I just can’t remember when.

What I do remember is that around 6 weeks I had some awful cramping at work that came on suddenly on a Friday and I went to the toilet and there was quite a bit of red blood - the hospital said I had a “threatened miscarriage” and at my scan on the Monday there was teeny baby with her heartbeat.

they’re all so different aren’t they. Still doesn’t stop me worrying! Xx

CaliGirl47 · 29/01/2023 15:59

Thanks ladies for all of your kind comments. It really means so much to me. We are all in this together. 💓 I definitely need to take it one day at a time. And try to think hopeful thoughts.

Do let us know how your scan goes today @pinkpirlie Hopefully you have an amazing experience and get to see little one’s heartbeat. 💓 Wishing you all the best.

I have got a hospital scan booked thanks to the miscarriage clinic on Feb 7th (will be 7+3) so I need to try to think happy thoughts until then and hopefully all will be well. 🙏🏻

thanks lovely @Blueskies4

and thanks for your kind words too @Tinkerbell098 I'm soo pleased for you that things are ticking along. 8 weeks is a good milestone. 🤗 You are so tight. We just need to hope and stay positive that everything will work out. 🌈✨

pinkpirlie · 29/01/2023 16:52

Just an update, as soon as the little bean popped up on the screen you could see the heart beat. Measured at 5.5mm.
I know I am no where near out the woods, but it was such a relief.
After two losses and 2.5 years of trying to actually see a heart beat was magical.
Thank you for all your wishes everyone.

Houseelf90 · 29/01/2023 17:42

@pinkpirlie thats lovely news, I’m so pleased it went well for you! 💕

Littleheart5 · 29/01/2023 18:13

Amazing news @pinkpirlie

Passenger87 · 29/01/2023 18:39

Wonderful news @pinkpirlie ! That's certainly a good sign.

@CaliGirl47 100% all in this together and it's great to a have a group that really understands this process

pinknsparkly · 29/01/2023 19:37

Gah! My phone really isn't liking MN tonight and just lost my whole post!

@pinkpirlie great news on your scan, I'm so pleased for you 🥰

Sorry to everyone struggling with symptoms, or lack of symptoms. @Blueskispitis spot on the money about this thread demonstrating that the same symptoms, or lack of, mean totally different things in different pregnancies! That's not stopped me being totally guilty of thinking the worst every time I get any sort of twinge, that quickly turns out to be wind or constipation 😁

Houseelf90 · 30/01/2023 12:20

How is everyone feeling?
my symptoms have been a bit stop/start. After a couple of evenings being sick last week I’ve not had any sickness since. My nipples went mega sore over the weekend but now seem a little better (still sore and sensitive though). My hiccups have lessened a lot, but today I feel really nauseous so taking that as a positive!

I’d love to go for an early scan this week but unfortunately unable to due to the hours me and my partner work not coinciding with when appointments are available during the week, and we have my partners kids all weekend next weekend! There are some appointments available we could potentially make on Valentine’s Day which could be lovely if it went well, so I am considering seeing if I can book an hour off work for that!
