Here’s a new thread for the upcoming new year.

I think we’ve got all due dates covered now but newbies are still of course most welcome. We’re a friendly, chatty bunch so do feel free to join in.

@Amme18 100% with the guilt when they're asleep - you look at their peaceful face and think how could I have been cross with you? Sorry you're having a tough time of it as well - have you explained what's going on to your 3.5yo? We're currently holding off due to miscarriage risk, and not really being sure how much he'd comprehend (and also not keen on his first association with new sibling being "mum is sick").

ChloeN · 01/01/2023 21:44

@LMM91x ive liked loads of ttc and mc stuff in the past so mines full of it, I try like some dog videos and grwms to mix it up🤣 it’s weird isn’t it I just bloody knew I’d be sick I had it in my head🤣 you’ll have to start showering round someone else’s house to get you out of the routine 😂

BCxx · 01/01/2023 22:21

@kookyelephant so sorry 😢 that must be so awful, especially when I would think at 8 weeks I was almost ‘safe’ or certainly safer than a 6 week scan feels! I’ve heard of it happen to so many people around the 8 week mark. All we can do is hope everything is fine this time and take each day as it comes. Hope 2023 is your year! X

Sjw30 · 01/01/2023 22:24

Back at work tonight after getting cramps and twinges on my last two shifts, two days off with nothing then back again tonight 😩. Without me even doing too much!

BCxx · 01/01/2023 22:25

@ChloeN god, I’m so sorry 😔 I do definitely believe in getting a feeling with things like that, will you have more than one early scan this time or do they make you feel more anxious? Hopefully you have all the good luck this time!

BCxx · 01/01/2023 22:28

@ChloeN and absolutely yes to the sickness thing! I actually think the mind games I play with myself about it all are almost worse than just being sick. I’m constantly trying to talk myself out of it or block it out until I can quickly make some toast 😂 Only been sick once so far but I’m not even 7 weeks until tomorrow so I’m waiting on it hitting me properly in the next week, 8 weeks onwards last time was when it fully kicked in

LMM91x · 01/01/2023 22:33

@ChloeN i know right!!! But funnily enough I did the same thing at my mums and in laws over xmas …. I’m too far gone it’s inplanted in my head now hahaa

Amme18 · 01/01/2023 22:52

@Recoba No we’ve not told him yet, my mum died in October, and my partners grandad in September, as well as his other grandparents dog (which he loved!) in the summer so he’s had ALOT of death and I don’t want to add to that so waiting to tell him! He already has too many loved ones up on the sky than what a 3.5 year old should be aware of 🥺

So yeah, it’s hard to explain why mummy just does not have the energy to do bedtime even though you want her to, or why she has her head over the toilet bowl again. And trying to balance not telling him without giving him fear that I’m poorly, my mum was “poorly” and then died, she’d had a hysterectomy for “fibroids” so we used the term poorly while she recovered so he was gentle with her not knowing actually it was going to turn out to be stage 4 cancer.

Sorry if this is a really awkward or uncomfortable post for anybody, I never know how to discuss it other than quite frankly but I know people don’t then know how to react.

sally16 · 02/01/2023 01:11

Went through for a scan at epu, little heart beat fluttering away, couldn't measure dates perfectly due to I didn't want an internal (trauma after being induced with DS) so did there best with an abdominal but was mostly just a little heartbeat check after the pains, and they confirmed I'll likely have a split muscle down the line :(

Sjw30 · 02/01/2023 01:46

@sally16 glad all was ok. That sounds awfully painful 😞

sally16 · 02/01/2023 05:04

@Sjw30 I didn't even ask about it! Sounded sore and every chance it won't happen 🥴😂 girl at work said she had the same and it didn't get any worse just took ages for her stomach to go back after birth! Xx

Moni81 · 02/01/2023 07:46

Hi everyone, I thought I may join this group, I am due on 2nd of September, but due to my age (42tomorrow🙈) I hope do be offered earlier induction if everything goes well. I am 5 weeks 2 days and it was surprise pregnancy, last time I was pregnant 12 years ago, do it all sound a bit scary right now. I became very sick with flu/cold just before Christmas and I don't normally get that bad, then my period was late, couldn't drink coffee....but put I'd down due to sickness. When I was already 5 days late I decided to test and line came so strong straight away. So far I'm kind of ok, just sore breasts, odd tummy twinges, need to eat more often, going to bed early and sleeping 12 h with lots of toilet trips as from last night. Hope you are all doing well and don't get too sick with nausea....I'm looking forward to that one lol, as with my previous 2 pregnancies it was my main symptom.

sally16 · 02/01/2023 07:58

@Moni81 congratulations!! Welcome! Hopefully you get to skip nausea this time 😅

Moni81 · 02/01/2023 08:05

Thank you Sally, well that would be so good not to strain myself to puke nothing. I remember I didn't really vomit that much but the motion was there and ended up constantly with red dots around my eyes from that straining myself over toilet and usually just little bit of yellow stomach content🙈🤣

Sjw30 · 02/01/2023 08:10

Congratulations @Moni81!

TattyTil · 02/01/2023 08:16

Hi everyone, hope it's ok to join. I'm coming up to 9 weeks so now feeling a bit more confident that I'll have a baby in August! My due date is around the second week in August meaning I'll be 35 weeks pregnant when I get married in July 🤦🏻‍♀️

Happy New Year and congratulations to you all too 😊

blondebanana · 02/01/2023 09:24

@BoodifulGoose I'm not enjoying it either tbh. I hate not being able to do anything because of the exhaustion and nausea - especially on a beautiful crisp sunny day like today when I want to be out hiking and walking the dog!

blondebanana · 02/01/2023 09:25

@TattyTil welcome and congrats!

Lalalul · 02/01/2023 09:52

@ChloeN yes! I wonder how much of how I am feeling is real and how much is placebo 😂. I feel nauseous most of the day but not really gagging or anything, so wondering if it’s just in my head. I seem to be worst when it comes to making dinner and need to sit down to chop things up and take regular breaks!

BoodifulGoose · 02/01/2023 09:56

@blondebanana Yeah same 😭 walking more was doing me so good and now I don't feel up for anything.

Didn't see my fiance's family over Christmas at all as I wasn't testing COVID negative until 28th, then since then I've just been too ill for the hours drive each way then multiple hours visit, whereas usually we do it twice a month.

Supposed to be going today and I'm dreading it 😭

ChloeN · 02/01/2023 10:22

@BCxx Ive not had any scans yet, my first is next week at 10 weeks, I was so busy before Christmas and couldn’t bare the anxiety so didn’t go before! I thought I’d be the opposite and desperate to be scanned but I’m not 🤔

@LMM91x @BCxx @Lalalul omg im glad I’m not alone🤣 It’s like getting yourself worked up for it no reason! I honestly thought I’d have the flattest belly ever and lose weight but I haven’t even though I’ve basically eaten nothing 😵‍💫

LMM91x · 02/01/2023 10:28

@ChloeN i’ve fortunately not gone through any MC but I think I would be the same. Next time round I don’t think I’d rush for an early scan unless I thought there was an issue just because the reassurance aspect is so short lived and I just started overthinking every other aspect instead! It’s a strange one isn’t it, I’m happy to not know about my 12 week scan date in a way and it to be last minute so I don’t have time to work myself up!!

BCxx · 02/01/2023 10:29

@ChloeN I think at least when it’s been Christmas it definitely keeps you busy and distracted from it. 10 weeks will be really good though, you’ll see a proper baby. I went at 6 weeks but going to book another for nearer 10

BCxx · 02/01/2023 10:30

7 weeks today.. Gagged three times just walking to the kitchen this morning, forgot how much I hate this feeling 😭The thought of 5 weeks of this and it’s going to get much worse is terrifying this time. I liked being clueless last time 😂

ChloeN · 02/01/2023 10:51

@LMM91x I keep thinking the same about my 12 week god knows when I’ll hear🤣 my midwife appt is tomorrow so maybe I’ll get the letter after that? I’m guessing you’ve still heard nothing?😂

@BCxx yep definitely it’ll be lovely to see it I’m just obviously really scared 🤣 I wouldn’t mind this week to go really slow 🫣
