Here’s a new thread for the upcoming new year.

I think we’ve got all due dates covered now but newbies are still of course most welcome. We’re a friendly, chatty bunch so do feel free to join in.

@LMM91x yeah I know what you mean, this time when I went in the room I just instantly focused on my little boy as he came with us and just thought ‘oh well I’m lucky to have him’ as if there was going to be nothing there. The woman coming out before we went in said to the sonographer as she was leaving ‘it’s not meant to be this time but I will hopefully see you again in the future’. Felt so bad for her, she was on her own too 😢

BCxx · 01/01/2023 11:39

@Owlgirl14 oh no 😂 My friend took quite a bit of the pressure as they have no kids and she was saying how much her MIL has been asking for one. I was just sat having flashbacks of the scan earlier in the day and seeing the heartbeat thinking these people don’t have a clue 😂

sally16 · 01/01/2023 11:40

Called EPU this morning because the pain radiating across my stomach, they didn't have scans today but I've just left the unit, they said from the placement it's likely where the muscles were cut at my last C-section 🫠
If it localises to a side i could go to another hospital for a scan but she said it's likely just that as no bleeding 🤞🏻
Said I've to pop in tonight while on shift if it's still sore to see if they have any scan slots cancelled but unlikely as super busy :/

BCxx · 01/01/2023 11:48

@sally16 fingers crossed it’s nothing and just your csection scar pain. I’ve noticed a few niggles in mine since finding out I was pregnant

BCxx · 01/01/2023 11:49

Just went on badger notes and noticed my 12 week scan date is on it.. 9th February feels like a lifetime away 🙈

LMM91x · 01/01/2023 11:51

@BCxx god awful isn’t it! I am also totally suprised how open and public the scan places are….

will see how I get on, if I don’t hesr from the midwife soon I may be forced to go for another private scan just to confirm i’m not going mad 🤣🤣

sally16 · 01/01/2023 11:55

@BCxx hope so 🤞🏻 they didn't seem concerned as it was a solid line that matched up with it 🫠 she said I didn't wince or react to any of the pressure points they would expect me too if it was something to look into 🤞🏻

Badger notes is what we use too! I'm 1st feb.. forever away!

Sjw30 · 01/01/2023 11:58

Hope they can fit you in @sally16

sally16 · 01/01/2023 12:06

@Sjw30 I've messaged my boss and she's said she's gonna come through with me tonight if it's still sore 🫠 said she's ultrasound trained for other anatomy so will offer her services 🤣 I can see me just booking a private reassurance one to avoid her haha!

It's not sore as such.. just present if that makes sense.. like I can easily ignore it but now I'm paranoid my muscles are gonna split after Googling 🥲

sally16 · 01/01/2023 12:07

@Sjw30 think she was just trying to make me laugh though at the thought 🤣 doubt they'd even let her come through 😂

VickiGo · 01/01/2023 12:14

Had my scan this morning, measured at 8+3, so only 2 days out from what I thought I was. Heartbeat seen giving it some welly, now estimated due date 10th August rather than 8th 😊

sally16 · 01/01/2023 12:23

@VickiGo lovely!!! I'm so desperate to book a scan but everywhere is like next week and I have no patience I just keep checking everywhere daily 😅

VickiGo · 01/01/2023 12:35

@sally16 I booked mine before Christmas and even that wait was awfully difficult, fingers crossed you get in for a scan soon 😊 x

LMM91x · 01/01/2023 13:02

@VickiGo eeeeek so glad it went well!💕

BoodifulGoose · 01/01/2023 13:28

Interesting about the chat with private vs NHS scans, my midwife has booked my 12 week scan for when I'm 13 weeks, specifically because my private scan dated me at 7 weeks instead of the 8 I thought from LMP, as she didn't want me to just be at 11 weeks for the scan.

Interesting how much it varies from area to area, as read someone say their midwife disregarded all private scan info!

BoodifulGoose · 01/01/2023 13:28

@VickiGo that's great to hear 💙

Sjw30 · 01/01/2023 13:37

@BoodifulGoose thats interesting! It was me who said that, but it was a friend who mentioned that to me and to be fair was a different area to me. I will still mention the private scan dates on my booking appointment though

sally16 · 01/01/2023 13:59

@BoodifulGoose they tend to disregard private as it's not been recorded at nhs facility. Also the 'dating' done at 6 weeks is pretty common to be inaccurate at times due to size so I think it's more if nhs redo then it's peace of mind also :)
Strange because nearly all of the ultrasound techs work for nhs and do the clinics as agency 😅

BCxx · 01/01/2023 15:15

@LMM91x yeah I booked one further away from where I stay on the off chance I knew someone in there! My husband was like, I don’t really think they should of been talking about that out in the waiting room and I did kind of think surely you’d keep that discussion within the room but I suppose what can you really say when saying bye to them other than sorry etc. Very awkward though when everyone else hears. The receptionist was asking how many weeks I am across the waiting room too and I thought it was a bit public 🙈

BoodifulGoose · 01/01/2023 15:52

@sally16 maybe mine is taking my private scan into account as it was at 8 weeks since LMP instead of 6 then? Just interesting how different it is across the board!

Miraclesdohappen88 · 01/01/2023 15:57

Happy New Year everyone!

How is everyone doing?
Congratulations on all the scans over the last few days!

I'm 8+4 now and the nausea has hit me mega! But I keep thinking it all positive signs!

Finally got my booking appointment through for Thur with the midwife.

BoodifulGoose · 01/01/2023 16:02

My first time back on the thread since before Christmas I think, I've had an absolutely miserable time 😂

Very gutted to not be enjoying pregnancy at all, it's been nothing but nausea, vomiting and exhaustion for weeks now. Reached out in the FB group for some support the other day which helped make me feel less isolated in my hatred of this, but yeah it's not nice 😂

Dreading my fiance going back to work next week, he's been incredible looking after me, absolutely no idea how I'll cope at work given I usually start at 7am but can't get my head out of a bucket until 11am every day 😂 desperate for this part to be over 🙃

@Miraclesdohappen88 hopefully it doesn't last too long for you!

My first pregnancy (this is my second) got easier and more "enjoyable" the further along I got, so don't be too disheartened. After the first trimester vomiting i could actually function. And then I briefly got heartburn and short of breath ect but then the baby dropped in the third trimester and most of the the third was actually the easiest. Although that was a March baby so I think it being august will make things a lot more sweaty 🤣

BCxx · 01/01/2023 16:42

@BoodifulGoose @froglou yeah my first trimester was definitely worse than any of the rest of it, the rest was actually fine and I didn’t have any bad symptoms later on like back pain or anything. How many weeks are you now @BoodifulGoose ? I’ll be 7 tomorrow and I don’t think the actually throwing up bit kicked in until 8 weeks last time, I’ve been sick once so far already but I’m hoping it was a one off! I’m genuinely scared for the sickness to take over my life again in January 😑

DesertSnow · 01/01/2023 16:43

Happy new year everyone!

@BoodifulGoose I hear you, I really hoped I would enjoy pregnancy as I've wanted it so much, but am finding it very tough!

Glad to see lots of positive scans. I'm 10+1 today and just had my first craving for something sweet - so far I've only wanted salt and savoury things. Made DH come out with me in the rain to get some Haribo which I haven't had in years.

Absolutely exhausted today but managed to hide pregnancy at the NY party last night, even though all I wanted to do was go home and go to bed!

Can't believe it's only 15 days to my NHS dating scan.
