Hi all,
obvs still very early days. I’m currently 4+4 and just trying to enjoy it really. Just wondering if anyone wanted to join me to share early symptoms, how you’re managing to hide symptoms, how you’ll reveal your pregnancy to loved ones etc. and all the other bits and bobs on this journey 🄰

@DandelionPockets yes nuggets and dippers for me... I never ever usually buy them in šŸ™ˆ also extra thin dominos pizza did the job the other night and noodles with beansprouts from the Chinese ... super healthy!

@Cat1424 I'm struggling too with bloating! I'd lost some weight around sept/oct time and had downsized in a pair of jeans, kept the bigger pair and now so thankful I did šŸ˜…
My top tip is anything that fastens with a button, to use an elastic hair bobble through the hole and around the button, gives that little bit more room but they'll still stay fastened, then a longer baggy top over the top

Cat1424 · 08/01/2023 19:30

@Havanalily1806 that is a great tip! I’ll give that one a go!

Soopyjoopy · 08/01/2023 20:22

Had early scan put me at right dates and got to see the good strong heartbeat, yes I burst into tears. Cant see any reason for the bleeding sonographer said age and previous pregnancies can have influence with the irritated cervix thing.

After my adoption maternity leave I left work going adhoc "bank only" so now I only get SMP as well, 6 weeks 90 % then basic rate. Going to be a struggle but worth it x

Help! I’ve just had a huge breakdown looking for ā€˜office’ clothes to wear tomorrow. I’m only 8+4 and even trousers that were falling down before Christmas I can no longer fasten. Baggy dresses are no longer baggy either. I didn’t think I’d even got much of a bump yet!

Has anyone got any suggestions for best ways to hide it at work before I manage to get some new baggy clothes?

I give into the maternity leggings early and have long baggy tunic tops with them.

Christmas and new year are great excuses to make excuses for the bloat as you have overindulged. Also blame the new fancy January diet you are on involving sprouts and cabbage to blot you out šŸ˜‚

allgoodthings84 · 08/01/2023 22:10

ClaBro1 · 09/01/2023 09:15

Glad it went well and you can enjoy your holiday @Soopyjoopy.

Has anyone else’s nausea/sickness really ramped up? I have felt rotten the last 3 days, being sick multiple times a day 😭

DandelionPockets · 09/01/2023 09:25

Great news @Soopyjoopy :)

@ClaBro1 this morning was the first time I was actually physically sick, so yes! Ramping up here.

laurapalmer22 · 09/01/2023 09:27

@Soopyjoopy So glad you had great news!!

ClaBro1 · 09/01/2023 09:39

@DandelionPockets oh no. Hope it isn’t too bad. Mine is lasting most of the day- definitely wouldn’t call it morning sickness ugh! Take care x

allgoodthings84 · 09/01/2023 09:49

@ClaBro1 just nausea (no actual sick) here but it’s all day every day. Same as it was when I was pregnant with my daughter and that lasted until around 18 weeks so I’m hoping not so long this time. Eating dry food helps but I don’t want to gain too much weight.

AnxiousFish · 09/01/2023 10:00

Hi everyone. I've been reading this thread for a few days but thought I'd better introduce myself - I'm due 6th Sept. I have one DD (just turned 5) and have had two losses since her. Fingers crossed this one sticks.

@Firsttimemomma1 I had a similar thing in my pregnancy with DD around now. I was checked out and it was the corpus luteum - en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corpus_luteum www.thebump.com/a/corpus-luteum-cyst

Basically, the ovary you ovulated from is responsible for producing the progesterone needed to support early pregnancy until the placenta takes over. It can be occasionally painful. If you're having mild/moderate pain on one side, but no bleeding etc, it might be that. If you're worried though, your EPU might be able to check you over.

Good vibes xx

LuckyStar511 · 09/01/2023 10:45

@Soopyjoopy that’s great news! Enjoy your holiday!

@ClaBro1 mine has gone from all day nausea to actually being sick today so definitely ramping up. I was the same with DD and was sick until about 17 weeks. Hoping it doesn’t last that long this time.

laurapalmer22 · 09/01/2023 10:59

@ClaBro1 Yeah, my nausea is consistently every day now, for an increasingly longer period of time. But I haven't been sick yet. šŸ¤ž

DandelionPockets · 09/01/2023 11:20

@AnxiousFish congratulations!! Hope everything goes really well for you.

elliew818 · 09/01/2023 14:19

Congratulations on the scan @Soopyjoopy lovely to hear such great news

Firsttimemomma1 · 09/01/2023 14:37

Thansk @AnxiousFish i called EPU this morning and they said the same, either that or possibly my bowels. Given the amount of fruit I’ve been eating recently my bowels are slightly irritated so I wouldn’t be surprised if it is that.

Anyway, went for a scan today just to check and baby is fine. Measuring at 8w 1d, CRL is 16.9mm and heart rate (which we heard for the first time rather than just seeing) was 160bpm.

Thats me relaxed for a day or two at least haha!

Owlgirl14 · 09/01/2023 14:46

@ClaBro1 Yes I have been having headaches and nausea on and off and also bad indigestion with stomach pains and gas. It really isn't very pleasant and I don't feel like eating anything else as my stomach hasn't been great since last night.

Any advice on what can help settle things would be very grateful šŸ™

How far along are you?

elliew818 · 09/01/2023 14:49

That’s so reassuring @Firsttimemomma1 lovely picture!
@Owlgirl14 I’ve been having bad trapped wind during the night too, so uncomfortable! I’m going to try some peppermint tea this afternoon and see if that’s helps

NP2705 · 09/01/2023 15:18

Hi all,

So lovely to see scans have gone well.

Does anyone else have a feeling like they constantly have something stuck at the back of their throat? I had this with my first pregnancy although much later on. It’s driving me mad and really putting me off eating certain things. There is nothing physically there but it does make me feel quite sick.

Any tips would be very welcome!

Owlgirl14 · 09/01/2023 15:53

@elliew818 I've had ginger biscuits and peppermint tea today already. The tea did help for a bit but it's back to gurgling away again.

Luckily seeing the doctor about my medication tomorrow so will ask about how best to relieve this as it's flared up quite bad the last few days.

@Firsttimemomma1 That's a great picture and must be so reassuring. I'm still in two minds whether to have an early scan or not. I was thinking not as all is well so far and having symptoms every day. But then I did wonder what if it happened to be a MMC and I carried on feeling really rubbish longer than I needed to. Also waiting to speak to the doctor as my medication can affect the growth of the baby and I may be offered extra scans but not sure when they would be.

Nypie · 09/01/2023 18:25

@DandelionPockets ohh no sausages! Thats sad. My partner made me a bacon sandwich this morning that I couldnt eat cause it tasted so strong Im gutted.

@Babydustmamma thanks for the tip will check them out šŸ’•

So happy for you both @Soopyjoopy @Firsttimemomma1

My partners just bought me alll the sour sweets I'm very happy right now! Its supposed to be good for nausea as well not that Im having any unless I exert myself or eat my vitamin chews

allgoodthings84 · 09/01/2023 19:19

@Nypie now I fancy sour sweets šŸ˜‚. I cooked bacon and cheese baguettes for my partner and daughters tea tonight but I couldn’t stomach the thought of eating it myself šŸ˜ž so I had butter and a little bit of marmite on my piece of baguette
