@TeddyBeans lovely name! I'm far too indecisive and we'll probably have a short list of 2 or 3 and then argue about it when shes born 😂

Choc2022 · 05/12/2022 19:25

Does the angel care bath seat go inside the bath? Would we need to 'bend' over the side of bath to hold the baby?

Also is there a real (worth the extra money) difference in plain babygrows/vests? I see some in primark that is sometimes half the price of M ans S. I have dry sensitive skin and eczema runs in the family

TeddyBeans · 05/12/2022 19:34

@Choc2022 the glorious thing about them is you don't have to hold the baby at all! They're well supported by themselves. Just sponge them down and pick them up in a towel when you're done - easy peasy!

Also no to babygrows. What you wash them in is more important than where you buy them from. I buy 90% of my stuff from the supermarkets

Dreamingof3 · 05/12/2022 20:04

Also buy a lot of my baby/kids stuff in supermarkets, they're all the same really. My favourites are next though...but they get very pricey so have been picking them up on vinted for a fraction of the price!

Does anyone else have a tingling leg? Is that a nerve thing?!

muminlndn · 05/12/2022 20:07

All I've noticed with baby grows and kids clothes from cheaper vs more expensive places is usually the fabric is a bit thinner. They're usually all cotton but places like John Lewis tend to make them a bit thicker. When you're getting through multiple a day and the price difference is massive though I dont think it's necessarily worth the difference, especially as we'll have spring/summer babies anyway.
But I will be getting more luxurious muslins this time because the supermarket ones were a bit thin/rough for me 😌

TeddyBeans · 05/12/2022 20:37

Glucose test tomorrow and naturally my heartburn has been really bad this evening. Tonight is going to be bloody awful and then I don't get to eat until lunchtime!

Was having a debate with mum earlier. If I end up with preeclampsia and gestational diabetes, is the baby going to be a big baby (GD) or a small baby (preE)!?

Babynum2 · 05/12/2022 20:44

I second next I love their baby grows but I only ever buy in the sale.

Matalan is also another place I love and tesco but again I wait until they are doing 25% off. I only really buy the babygrows that have the built in mittens they are handy.

havanamama · 05/12/2022 20:50

All our baby grows at John Lewis, Next and M&S, and the John Lewis are deffo the best material in terms or thickness

Ubbee · 05/12/2022 21:14

Agree that John Lewis and Next were the nicest. JL ones seemed to fit for the longest time too.

I do think it’s worth spending a bit more for a few with zips!

Choc2022 · 06/12/2022 01:52

@TeddyBeans what do you mean by 'what you wash them in'?

Choc2022 · 06/12/2022 01:55

Do John Lewis/Next have sales of their babygrows? Worth waiting for boxing day sales or start buying now?

Sorry for all of the questions, just have no clue really!

ChristmasJumpers · 06/12/2022 06:57

Hi all, sorry I've been quiet recently. Do you think it's worth ringing the hospital today if I haven't felt baby move since Sunday night? I only noticed last night as she really only has a kick around when I go to bed. I have an anterior placenta and I'm only 24 weeks so think they'll probably just fob me off 😒

Katdemar · 06/12/2022 07:37

@ChristmasJumpers
Please go and get that checked out. I went to my local emergency unit at 24 weeks and they didn't fob me off. They took it seriously and said that I'd done the right thing in going.

iratepirate · 06/12/2022 07:46

Definitely ring and go to your triage / mat unit @ChristmasJumpers

Babynum2 · 06/12/2022 07:55

@Choc2022 yes I go to next sale every boxing day I get there for opening because it can be manic! I get my older kids bits in there to its very worth it.

ChristmasJumpers · 06/12/2022 09:00

Parking up at the hospital now, I'm sure it will be fine but I only tend to get movement at night so don't want to spend the while day worrying about it!

TeddyBeans · 06/12/2022 09:06

@Choc2022 my brother had eczema really bad as a baby and my mum switched everything to sensitive. Non bio washing liquid, sensitive fabric softener etc. Made no difference to the rest of us but helped his skin massively

OP posts:
TeddyBeans · 06/12/2022 09:07

@ChristmasJumpers definitely the right thing to get checked out. Hope all is well - keep us updated!

CristinaNov182 · 06/12/2022 09:46

@ChristmasJumpers I went to the daily assessment unit too last week, after reduced movements. I also have an anterior placenta but I was feeling lots of kicks before, from 16 weeks (2nd pregnancy).

They said I shouldn’t worry and call and come every time I have a doubt. They checked baby’s heart and my urine, all good. She kicked where the Doppler was while they were listening to her.

I’ve been feeling more kicks again the last few days.

you should always call them, they will tell you if you need to come in.

CristinaNov182 · 06/12/2022 09:48

@Choc2022 i also had some itching or dry skin some years ago, but since then switched to non bio and had no issues. I use this for all of us.

Heading home now, we were in and out really quickly!
Strong heartbeat and she also gave the doppler a really good kick before shuffling off to hide from it 😂

Unfortunately it looks like my GTT will be brought forward because there's glucose in my urine. Also potentially a urine infection so they're sending the sample off for a bit more testing

TeddyBeans · 06/12/2022 10:02

@ChristmasJumpers glad to hear baby's okay!

Just done the first part of my glucose test. The finger prick test came up as 5.8 so I'm already in the prediabetic range before we start 🤦‍♀️ it's going well for me... Thank god this is my last pregnancy

I have missed a whole thread been a stressful few weeks and yesterday I was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism. Has anyone ever had one during pregnancy?

TeddyBeans · 06/12/2022 10:20

@Baby2iscooking crikey! Hope you're okay!? I think someone said they'd had one previously - can't remember for the life of me who though

OP posts:
havanamama · 06/12/2022 10:30

I have not heads back anything from my GTT test, so treating it as good news! 🙌
