It still feels very early but I’m taking a leap of faith and starting a thread here.

Just found out yesterday that I’m due at the very start of August.

Anybody else yet?

@somuchtolearnabout i can’t tell you how helpful that post was! Thank you so much x

Chocolotandtea · 26/11/2022 20:11

@xylophone that’s a great idea for the evening Xmas do and can take @ChloeN advice for the all day bender a week later!

somuchtolearnabout · 26/11/2022 20:13

@Chocolotandtea Glad it helped!

AnnieApple123 · 26/11/2022 20:16

@BoodifulGoose I love the rash on the thigh idea. You’re right, nobody’s going to ask to see that! Especially this time of year.

@MsRT My heart goes out to you. Babycentre has a specific board for Motherless Mothers. May be helpful to you? community.babycentre.co.uk/groups/a110965/motherless_mothers

@somuchtolearnabout Our NIPT was done at The Birth Company. The sonographer actually said at the scan that she was pretty sure it was a boy and she was right. That must have been scary having high nuchal fluid. What horrible wait.

Did you know there are ‘Sneak Peek’ blood tests now that you can do from 6 weeks?

No!!!! Tell me more!!!!

AnnieApple123 · 26/11/2022 20:27

Oh my goodness, my heartburn which just came on this afternoon has been constant ever since and is hideous. I’m going to have to get some medical advice tomorrow because I’m not going to be able to function if it goes on like this. I just hope I can get some sleep.

It was a total surprise as I had absolutely zero heartburn in my first pregnancy the entire way through.

somuchtolearnabout · 26/11/2022 20:27

@AnnieApple123 I was 33 at the time so they said it could've been to do with my age (I didn't think 33 was old but the lovely sonographer informed me otherwise 😂😂) and also because I got my dates totally wrong so I was actually much further along than I thought I was. I was almost 15 weeks before I even had the 12 week scan and I think that may have contributed to it. Anyway if I have to go through it again this time at least I'll be prepared.

Or not.

I'm already bricking it

somuchtolearnabout · 26/11/2022 20:28

@AnnieApple123 I was on omeprazole the entire way through both pregnancies. Never had it before or since, only during pregnancy. It's horrendous but omeprazole will fix it and it's 100% safe for use in pregnancy

AnnieApple123 · 26/11/2022 20:31

Just been reading about omeprazole. The consensus seems to be that it works. It’s really good to know that something does.

I think I'm going to have to put myself on an internet ban 🙃 I can't stop googling EVERYTHING.

Feel like my anxiety is sky high because I don't know everything is okay until this early scan in 3 weeks. Realistically I know that's no time at all and I'll be fine until then, but also I am dreading going with this anxiety and feeling like its not real or that something bad has happened until then 😭

Mulner88 · 26/11/2022 23:49

Just catching up with the messages today...welcome to the newcomers today and congrats ☺️

I came to see my parents this weekend and my sister guessed! I went to another room and she followed me and asked me if I was pregnant, biggest giveaway was refusing a glass of wine over dinner and another drink earlier on 🤣 I haven't told my parents as I'll wait for my early scan but I'm sure my mother has guessed!

@AnnieApple123 re heartburn, I am a sufferer of this anyway along with acid reflux which is horrible, loads of sleepless nights. Best short term fixes is to sleep propped up and you can find some relief sleeping on your left side, gaviscon dual action, eating bland foods and trying to avoid acidic food/drinks till it calms down and also chewing gum I find helps. I have a touch of it tonight 🙄

AnnieApple123 · 27/11/2022 08:05

Heartburn all gone this morning. But then of course that becomes a worry in itself if a symptom stops. We just can’t win!

@Mulner88 Doesn’t it feel strange to say the actual words, ‘I’m pregnant’?

Hi everyone! Congrats to everyone here :) I’ve just been reading your thread and it’s been very reassuring to me. Found out on Friday, will be due around 5th August and it’s my first. My current worst symptom is lower back ache, it’s pretty constant.

I also can’t stop doing tests each day to triple check and thinking of excuses for non drinking over December plans! 😅

AnnieApple123 · 27/11/2022 08:50

Welcome @Moolahdog ! I’ve also had the lower back ache at times.

OP posts:
Chocolotandtea · 27/11/2022 09:21

Congratulations @Moolahdog !

I’ve had no symptoms at all other than some cramping and feeling exhausted but the latter is nothing new.

can’t help but fear that I’ve just made it all up…

AnnieApple123 · 27/11/2022 09:35

@Chocolotandtea I kept fearing that in my last pregnancy. I had virtually no symptoms and there were some moments early on when I felt as if I’d actually be glad of some for reassurance that there was truly a baby there. Of course I’m rethinking that now that this pregnancy looks set to be very different.

One of the few things I did have last time was achy legs and that seems to have started again already.

OP posts:
Chocolotandtea · 27/11/2022 09:56

@AnnieApple123 that gives me some reassurance that your previous pregnancy was like this. I just can’t believe the doctor doesn’t confirm your pregnancy and you just have to wait for your first scan. I am obviously completely uninformed but I thought the doctor would confirm it with a blood test.

Anyway, I hope you are not feeling too bad today x

AnnieApple123 · 27/11/2022 10:18

@Chocolotandtea I got HCG testing done privately in my last pregnancy and it honestly just caused me more stress. Waiting for the results was painful. I wouldn’t be keen to do it again unless there was a good reason to. I just found the old bills the other day and the tests were £72 each which makes me laugh when now I complain about the price of First Response.

My toddler has just told me that he thinks he has a baby growing in his tummy but that it’s too small to see yet. I think he’s picking up on something…

OP posts:
ChloeN · 27/11/2022 10:27

@Chocolotandtea I searched what to do when you’re pregnant when I found out the first time, and they say they don’t bother testing at the gp anymore because at home pregnancy tests are so reliable! It’s hard to get your head round that there’s an actual baby in there though🫣

@Moolahdog congratulations lovely! I’ve known just over a week and have tested everyday except Friday 🤣🤣

Argeebargee88 · 27/11/2022 11:11

Hi can I join you?

Looking like a due date of 4th August here

Have booked a private scan for 3 weeks time when I should be 7 weeks, hopefully to put my mind at ease 🙃

Is anyone else terrified at this stage??

AnnieApple123 · 27/11/2022 11:17

Welcome @Argeebargee88 ! Yes, have had quite a few moments of terror now I’m afraid.

TheBirdintheCave · 27/11/2022 12:58

@Argeebargee88 @Moolahdog Welcome and congrats!

@Chocolotandtea I wrote a big post about Japan last night then my phone deleted it 🙄 In short, I think your plan sounds good (though I'd maybe cut Osaka as it's similar to Tokyo whereas Kyoto is very different). Hiroshima is a must see. The dome and peace park are sobering sights and the museum is harrowing but it's such an important place in human history that we decided we'd regret it if we didn't go.

How many days would you go for?

Chocolotandtea · 27/11/2022 13:24

@TheBirdintheCave what a shame that your post got lost!!!

We would go for 2 weeks total so would probably end up being 12 full days what with travel.

Thanks for tips about Osaka. I know every pregnancy is different but as you’ve both been to Japan before and been pregnant before (albeit not at the same time!) do you think it would be do-able for about 5 months pregnant?

TheBirdintheCave · 27/11/2022 13:50

@Chocolotandtea Yeah I think it would be doable :) I felt my best between 20-30 weeks. If you plan it so that Tokyo and Kyoto are your base cities you could do day trips from there which would save you lugging bags around.

Kyoto day trips: Nara, Hiroshima (if you start early OR you could take two days to do Hiroshima and Miyajima and stay overnight in Miyajima), Nagoya, Himeji

Tokyo day trips: Hakone, Yokohama, Nikko national park
