Congratulations on getting your scan! Hope everything went OK. Xx

lmw88 · 16/11/2022 18:04

I've just tested positive for COVID so gutted I dodged it all this time, immune system obviously down. Assessment until just advised fluids, rest and paracetamol. Went through a list of questions, said I was low risk. I'm 14+5 hoping I'll be ok. Just feels like a bad cold / sore head.

OptimusPrime31 · 16/11/2022 20:42

Does anyone else get this? I'm 15+4 and my MIL keeps asking if I've felt the baby move, at least 2-3 times every time I see her, she keeps saying stuff like "don't worry, I'm sure you'll feel it soon". I genuinely don't know if my irritation is legit or just baby hormones. I just want to have tummy ache without her getting excited/overly worried 😣

EllieJayneB · 17/11/2022 09:00

Morning ladies!

This is my first pregnancy/baby and I'm currently 15+1, I'm quite a petite person (5"3 and around 8.5 stone pre-pregnancy) but since around 6 weeks my belly has been growing, like I'm constantly putting weight on there but nothing is an actual bump.

When am I likely to start showing properly instead of it being just bloat/weight gain?

Zaalfruit · 17/11/2022 10:16

Silly question but can coleslaw be consumed when pregnant? I have a massive craving for it .

@OptimusPrime31 its so weird the moment I become pregnant- it’s like everyone wants to know about everything. I think we find it extra annoying because of the pregnancy hormones.

@EllieJayneB Congratulations ! In terms of when you start actually showings it’s so different for everyone . For my first pregnancy I weighed about the same as you and I’m 5’2 - I only started slowly at 27 weeks before that it just looked like I ate a big dinner .

Imw88 ( I can’t tag you ) oh I’m so sorry to hear that ! Try and rest up and drinks as much fluids as you can to get rid of it .

lmw88 · 17/11/2022 10:21

@Zaalfruit thanks. Just so annoyed with myself that I got it after dodging it all this time. Immune system obviously down a little.

That's exactly how I look right now! 😂 Literally look like I've been to an all you can eat and stuffed my face full, I feel like that too actually!

This may be a silly question, but am I unlikely to feel baby move and other people like my other half until I'm showing?

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 17/11/2022 10:45

@EllieJayneB the range is huge but they say after 20 weeks is when you'd start to feel movement

Janch13 · 17/11/2022 12:47

@OptimusPrime31 I don’t think I felt any movements until about 22 weeks with my last pregnancy! Not sure what is the norm but I would say it will be a while still for most of us. Your MIL is probably just excited but I know what you mean, it can get annoying!

AlwaysTryingToHelp · 17/11/2022 15:14

Hey, hope everyone is okay!

I hope it is okay for me to join, I have only just seen this thread. It is so lovely seeing everyones pictures :)

I am 13+5 today, due on may 20th. I have had my NHS 12 week scan last week and everything looked great. I am just waiting on the screening test results to come back, then I will book in for my 16 week midwife appointment.

Awkwardusername · 17/11/2022 16:21

Hi all, I’ve got a HORRIBLE cold (possibly from my one year old nephew sneezing directly into my mouth last week!), sore head, sore throat, feeling generally awful. I know I can take paracetamol but is there anything else I can do or take?

Flowersflowers121 · 17/11/2022 16:54

Welcome @AlwaysTryingToHelp :)

@Awkwardusername I'm in the same boat currently but also being sick :( my morning sickness stopped about 2 weeks ago so thought I was in the clear so not sure if the sickness is from this weird flu thing?

I've just been drinking lots of water and napping whenever I can haha I work from home and have no other children so it's a little easier for me to relax than I imagine it is for some others!

Hope you feel better soon :( it's so rubbish isn't it? Xxx

Zaalfruit · 17/11/2022 16:59

@Awkwardusername I think paracetamol is the only thing you can take and just rest it out . (Unless the doctors prescribe you something) babies and toddlers are notorious germs spreaders 😅😅😅😅 Really wish it passes through quickly for you - try and have lots of fluids if you can :)

@AlwaysTryingToHelp congratulations !! Is this your first baby?

raffika · 17/11/2022 18:22

@Awkwardusername just paracetamol I’m afraid. I had Covid, so had to check in with my maternity unit, and they told me it was paracetamol only. I asked if there were any other options, as had awful sinus pain, but they said I had to ride it out.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 17/11/2022 19:06

Has anyone else been quite crampy? (Bum, back, hip, cervix, abdomen)?

Ahhhh no! I hope you’re okay! I’ve swerved any sickness at all this pregnancy so feeling lucky!
I’m able to WFH but haven’t told my boss I’m pregnant yet so having to try and have a nap on my lunch break and that’s it! No kids but a very excitable dog to keep disturbing me!

Thank you though, and I hope you feel better soon 🥰

MissNat13 · 17/11/2022 19:37

Hi all, congrats on pregnancies, hope you all have smooth experiences!
Wondering if any of you ladies are on 2nd or third pregnancies? And if you felt movements earlier 2nd time.
I feel like I have felt flutters but not sure of it is or I’m going mad 🤷🏽‍♀️
I’m due 21st May 2023 so nearly 14 weeks now.

tiantian1005 · 17/11/2022 19:59

Has anyone still been keeping the pregnancy as secret even with families, friends and work? We still haven't told literally ANYONE yet at 16 weeks as terrified sth will go wrong... for some reason I still can not imagine having a new born at the end of this...

redbigbananafeet · 17/11/2022 21:39

I'm not sure if I joined this thread or just peeked. I'm due my first on May 19th after a missed miscarriage in February. Delighted to have made it to 14 weeks tomorrow x

sunshine1987 · 17/11/2022 21:46

@MissNat13 i felt it at 15 weeks, this is my second pregnancy

Mayhavingbabyinmay · 18/11/2022 06:39

I have been! My hips have been hurting LOADS. And defo random cramps in my ovaries...

Zaalfruit · 18/11/2022 11:20

A bit worried this is my second and I haven’t felt any flutters . I’m so tired thou because of the toddler so even if I felt any I might just be rushed off my feet .

Also the sickness this time is beyond ridiculous.

Due date twins! So pleased for you 🥰

Awkwardusername · 18/11/2022 14:26

What are everyone’s thoughts on private scans?
We had one at 8ish weeks and whilst I loved seeing little one on the screen, it felt really quick and impersonal (especially for £70!).
Mentioned to my husband I didn’t feel pregnant today (14 weeks so I know it’s fairly normal) and he now wants another private “just to check”. I get where he’s coming from but is it just another waste of money or was I just unlucky first time?

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 18/11/2022 14:42

@Awkwardusername I've booked one for 16 weeks, we also had one at 11 wks. They are pricey but I'm really struggling with time between scans
