I've been trying not to lie on my back or sot too far back whilst on the sofa but it's really difficult not to. I tried lying on my side last night instead and now I've pulled a muscle in my neck - so painful!! 😣

MommaSmith · 08/01/2023 23:02

Hey are any of you based in south london
Coulsdon
Mitcham
Sutton
Wallington
Etc

I just set up a WhatsApp group for meet and greets in the area. Let me know if you want to join

Janch13 · 09/01/2023 10:26

Has anyone received their MAT B1 form yet and if so, how was it given to you (midwife appt, post, etc?) I am awaiting mine and Google just tells me I’ll get it following my 20 week scan (which was now 2 weeks ago). I don’t have another midwife appt for a while and want to get my form to give it to my HR dept.

wintersun21 · 09/01/2023 10:27

@Janch13 I asked after my 20 week scan and everyone had gone home so rang up and went to collect it a week later! Didn't wait until 24 week appointment as that would be pushing it

Janch13 · 09/01/2023 13:12

@wintersun21 Thanks for your reply. Who did you ask? I don’t have a 24 week midwife appt, my next one is 20th Feb when I’ll be 28 weeks. Wonder if that’s a booking mistake?

wintersun21 · 09/01/2023 13:13

@Janch13 I just rang up the maternity team at my hospital and they arranged for me to come and collect it! I could have just walked in at any point and done it tbh I only rang up because I don't live too close.

Ahh, just checked NHS site and it says you’re offered a 25 week appt if it’s your 1st pregnancy, this isn’t my first (although I can’t remember when I had appointments last time, just scans!) Nevermind

Irishgirl55 · 09/01/2023 13:27

Your community midwife can also give you one, I rang up and she popped it in the post.

Janch13 · 09/01/2023 13:59

@wintersun21 @Irishgirl55 got it, thanks! Will give community midwife a call.

Melusina123 · 09/01/2023 15:01

My reading of the rules is that you don't need to provide the Mat-B form to your employer until 21 days before expected week of "confinement". You need to notify them of the due date and when you'd like to start maternity leave by 25 weeks, but you can just do this by email/in person. I've already notified work, and I'm just going to ask for my Mat-B at my next appointment, which is 25+1.

Flowersflowers121 · 09/01/2023 15:25

Does anyone know if these same rules apply for paternity? X

(Husband is terribly unorganised haha)

MommaSmith · 09/01/2023 16:10

@Flowersflowers121 I think it depends on his contract

I have to give notice 15 weeks before due date (so at 25w)

My partner has 21 days
In his previous job he had 2 months notice

Flowersflowers121 · 09/01/2023 16:19

@MommaSmith okay, thanks! I'll get him to look into it properly haha :)

Hi all,

I'm due May with my first little one and I can't wait!

When is the best time to book antenatal classes? Xx

wintersun21 · 11/01/2023 07:58

@Jas1987 I'd get looking now. We've booked ours for March 😊

Awkwardusername · 11/01/2023 10:23

@Jas1987 @wintersun21 Congratulations!

What sort of antenatal classes are people booking? My husband did an online one last night (while I was asleep…7-9pm is surely too late for any pregnant woman haha!) and he’s now keen for us to go to more but I’m lost every time I google!

Also has anyone done baby first aid?

wintersun21 · 11/01/2023 10:30

@Awkwardusername I found a local one which includes first aid, hypnobirthing. It's once a week for 5 weeks. It's 7-9pm apart from the one weekend one which is late but it's 10 minute walk from my house and is out of office hours so both my DH and I can go. Cost us about £280?

We would pay that just to meet other people locally in the same position. We looked at NCT but classes in our area had already sold out 😱

There's so many options but I'd research and find exactly what you want to learn and get out of it 😊 if you're not bothered about meeting people then there's lots of good online ones

Awkwardusername · 11/01/2023 10:57

@wintersun21 thank you!!

NCT aren’t very highly rated around me, so I think we’ll swerve that!

Would love to meet people! Gone to a pregnancy Pilates but everyone seemed to be due imminently (and a bit cliquey!).

My SIL said the hospital/midwife suggested a few things for her when she had her first but that was 4 years ago! I’m at a total loss 🤯

Melusina123 · 11/01/2023 11:10

We're doing NCT in Mar/April. If I had my time again I might to one of the others instwad, but oh well.

@Awkwardusername if you stick with pilates maybe you'll develop your own clique by May. 😂 That's my strategy with pregnancy yoga..

harriethb · 11/01/2023 13:32

I’ve signed up to a bump&baby course as an NCT alternative. They seem to have classes all over: bumpandbabyclub.com

@wintersun21 @Awkwardusername

wintersun21 · 11/01/2023 13:33

@harriethb @Awkwardusername I think mine is with Happy Parents Happy Baby

Awkwardusername · 11/01/2023 13:40

@harriethb @wintersun21 Bump and Baby is sold out and no Happy Parents Happy Baby near me! Typical haha! Thank you both though 😊

Wow, I've just spent a week reading the whole thread! I wish I had found it sooner - maybe I wouldn't have worried so much about bleeding in week 9 or low PAPP-A..

Hi everyone! I'm 36, due on 31 May, it's an IFV pregnancy (second take), I have an anterior placenta and I haven't felt any movements yet (I think). I was asked to take 150 of aspirin every day for the low PAPP-A. I got my flu and whopping caugh vaccines in 16w at the hospital. My 20w scan is on Monday, I can't wait and am really nervous. My mum's first child couldn't walk and I know how difficult that has been. All I want is a healthy baby. Learnt the gender with the Sneakpeek test and my DH and I are already calling the baby by his name 😀

I've bought or got given about 8 books but I've barely touched them as I find it much easier to follow an app. I love Pregnancy+ if anyone wants an app. Also, there is this hilarious podcast I've been listening to called 'Two New Mums'. I've signed up for NCT classes as apparently they are great for making friends around here. And we're seeing a childminder and a couple of nurseries at the end of Jan.

My mother in law is currently occupying my baby room while looking for a new house. It bothers me cos it's stopping me from nesting. I think I will start buying things anyway and putting them in visible areas to send a message and speed up the house search [evil laugh]. Plus she is keep touching my belly! I like her but it bothers me a bit. Probably a little too late to touch hers in response but I love that tip to use with strangers 😀

@Melusina123 good advice. Everyone in my pregnancy yoga class seems to stay a little longer after the class, have a chat, but I find it incredibly difficult to approach them, panic and leave. I think I will stick with it though as it's good for me and we even do pelvic exercises. Maybe one day have the courage to open my mouth.
