@OptimusPrime31 we bought a Bugaboo Fox 3 and it arrives next week I think? We had it recommended by my cousin who has a six month year old. It's her second child and said it was by far the best she has had - went through loads as none worked for her last time

Bananabreakfast123 · 02/01/2023 13:39

@OptimusPrime31 we've gone for the Silver Cross Reef but obviously can't review until baby arrives! We went to the nearest big pram shop and tried them all. It felt like a really personal decision and we just loved how the pram felt and looked. I'm very gut instinct, heart over head etc when it comes to decision making but DH is a real researcher and went through thousands of reviews, YouTube videos and comparisons to check functionality etc so I was delighted he approved and we actually agreed.

There are a couple of other prams consistently recommended on here and in various articles so don't think you could go wrong with any of those. We tried and compared them all over several visits and spoke to staff which was really helpful to get a feel for size, weight, ease of folding etc. so would recommend doing that if you can.

RugbyGirl1 · 02/01/2023 16:07

I'm 21 weeks and not bought a single thing yet - a little superstitious I guess (particularly around the pram!) plus we're planning on doing a bit of a clear out which will be good to do before we start buying a tonne of stuff and clogging up the house 😂

raffika · 02/01/2023 16:21

@OptimusPrime31 if you’re buying from
John Lewis, look at doing a baby appointment (you can do them online or in store). We did one in November and got a voucher for 10% off £1000 spend and 15% off £1500 spend. We bought all the big stuff (and my brother wanted a Joie 360) so spent over £1500, and it took our Bugaboo Fox down to around £650.

@Bananabreakfast123 we’ve bought most of the big stuff - pram, car seats, bath, monitor, crib, cot, prep machine and swing - but our friends who have had babies have said that less is more, and to buy less than we need rather than worrying about wasting money. At the end of the day, you can order anything you find you need from Amazon and it’ll arrive next day!

TheBeesKnee · 02/01/2023 18:40

I have about 20 sleep suits, 4 blankets - and today we made our first major purchase and bought the Bugaboo Fox 3 in John Lewis 🥳 it's black i wanted green but we're really pleased with it.

Just the rest to go now...

lmw88 · 02/01/2023 19:53

@RugbyGirl1 I'm the same not bought anything.....I've been looking but we're hopefully going to be moving into new house round March so similarly don't want to buy loads at this stage

Awkwardusername · 02/01/2023 20:58

Pram wise we got the Nuna Mixx Next in the Black Friday sales - one of my friends has it and absolutely swears by it, so for £400 off we couldn’t say no!
We also got a secondhand Next2Me crib (and a new mattress) and today I bought some sleepsuits but other than that, not a lot!

Sleepsuit sizing has blown my mind - why is Next first size SO much bigger than M&S newborn?! What sizes should I be taking to the hospital with me when the time comes?! Absolute minefield!

raffika · 02/01/2023 21:40

@Awkwardusername my baby mum friends tell me that the hospital supply clothes for your baby to use during their stay, and they launder them etc., so the only outfits I need are for pictures and going home. I’ll check that nearer the time, but if that’s right I’ll probably take a couple of newborn and a couple of up to 1 month, just in case it’s a whopper. Obviously I don’t know if this situation is the same everywhere, but might be worth checking?

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 02/01/2023 21:49

@raffika not sure where you live but definitely not the case in our healthboard. I'd be amazed if many offer that!

raffika · 02/01/2023 22:04

@Awkwardusername I was amazed when I was told to be honest, but some of my friends have had babies in the last couple of months and assure me it’s the case. It’s handy, but not the most efficient use of public resources.

Hannah310523 · 03/01/2023 07:44

We went to the pram shop the other day and tested them all out, we fell in love with a pram that folded easily and compact (needed for my small car!), and had really good suspension (which I need for my wrists!). It was coming up at over £1100 for the 3 in 1 travel system… managed to get it on Facebook marketplace for only £300 and it’s pristine condition. The car seat only used for 3 months, crib for 4 months, pram for 4. My advice would be find what you like in the shop and check market place there are so many out there! Most around me were in really good condition as they aren’t in their prams long before parents switch to a buggy. We are just going to buy a new mattress for pram at £15 x

wintersun21 · 03/01/2023 07:48

@Hannah310523 that sounds amazing. What a deal. Only thing I'd say is buying a pram second hand is a good idea but everything I've read recommends not buying a car seat second hand unless you're getting it directly from a friend or family member as you don't know where it has been and if it has been in any crashes.

Hannah310523 · 03/01/2023 07:51

@wintersun21 I’ve read that too, she is a friend of a friend and assured me it never had been. I think you just have to be careful and if something doesn’t look right then stay clear x

Janch13 · 03/01/2023 11:29

@raffika are you in the UK? Never heard of this and definitely wasn’t the case with my first born.

raffika · 03/01/2023 11:44

@Janch13 yep, I’m in the UK, but it’s a small local hospital rather than a larger centre.

Janch13 · 03/01/2023 12:12

@raffika Wow, that’s really nice then. I’d take some baby clothes just in case. All my hospital provided was a hat (which is fine, wasn’t expecting anything!)

Flowersflowers121 · 04/01/2023 12:02

Oh my days. I just had my new Love Leggings maternity jeans and leggings delivered and I'm in love. They're both so comfy. I could cry with happiness hahahaha xx

RugbyGirl1 · 04/01/2023 12:13

@Flowersflowers121 I received my love leggings just before Christmas and I love them too!! I got the winter lined ones and some plain maternity ones - so warm and comfortable!! Will definitely check out their jeans!

Irishgirl55 · 04/01/2023 13:54

@Flowersflowers121 are the Jeans as good? I haven't ordered them yet!

Flowersflowers121 · 04/01/2023 14:29

I'm 5"2 so got the petite ones and the length is great too

Irishgirl55 · 04/01/2023 14:31

Just ordered them! Also in petite.

Bananabreakfast123 · 04/01/2023 15:06

I had four pairs of love leggings delivered today as well 🤩 I've now officially popped so embracing the stretchy leggings, maternity tees and over shirts. This will be my wardrobe for the next four months 🤣

wintersun21 · 04/01/2023 15:07

Ive just bought myself a pair of the winter ones! I love my current leggings but they're quite thin!

EllieJayneB · 04/01/2023 15:09

@Flowersflowers121 would you say they are true to size on the legs and bum?

I ordered a pair of maternity jeans from SHEIN and they were WAY too big! My bumps just arrived and seems to be growing daily so desperately trying to get some leggings before I got nothing to wear 😂
