@Hannah310523 I'm 19 weeks this Monday and still puking my guts up nearly every day. The GP wouldn't give me anything and said it was normal. A colleague was sick all the way through unfortunately. I wish it would stop too!!

Melusina123 · 31/12/2022 14:47

What is everyone doing for NYE?

We'll probably stay in the two of us. Partner seems a bit sad at that idea, but I just don't think I have the energy for hiking across London in miserable weather and then having to haul myself back again after midnight. Even whether I last until midnight is in question! So a nice night in on the sofa with pizza is sounding pretty good to me...

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 31/12/2022 15:06

@Melusina123 we bought m&s dine in pie and will likely be asleep by midnight 😁. Its not just me, the festive season has knackered DH too.

Melusina123 · 31/12/2022 15:12

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl sounds PERFECT to me 🤣

MommaSmith · 31/12/2022 16:49

We just found out we are having a boy👦

Spending the evening/ night with partners parents for dinner then driving to my parents tomorrow for lunch

We haven't really done much for the past few years for NYE

CatMad22 · 31/12/2022 16:57

@Melusina123 Same here, my husband is working until 10pm so just enough time to watch the fireworks together. I've bought ingredients to make a curry but already regretting it, just want to lie on the sofa 🤣

Sineadandkevin · 31/12/2022 21:05

We will be sitting at home tonight 22 weeks pregnant , with nothing but heart ache so far, but greatful we are still carrying our baby. Sinéad has been in hospital the last 2 days as type 1 diabetic. So first night home together in 2 nights will be nice. Hope you all have a lovely New Year’s Eve.

TheBeesKnee · 31/12/2022 23:21

We're not going out either, I've done central London for NYE before and it was a trial when I was young and not pregnant!

Tonight has been very special though as I didn't the baby kick on the outside for the first time. I have an anterior placenta so this was quite a big deal. DP was sadly too slow and didn't get to feel anything.

raffika · 01/01/2023 08:41

We went to friends for NYE, but didn’t make it to midnight, as I was driving and I was shattered, but it was a nice chilled evening.

Happy New Year everyone - we’re having our babies this year!

Buntymcgiggle · 01/01/2023 09:19

Been following but now jumping in! I'm 20+1 with my first. EDD 20th May. Found out last week it's a boy. Have to go back for another scan as sonographer couldn't get all the pictures needed. Anyone else have no appetite and heartburn at this stage?! I've been lucky I think with no sickness throughout. Waiting for something else to bite me now though. Happy new year!

Irishgirl55 · 01/01/2023 10:07

@Buntymcgiggle I have very limited appetite too. Ate all round me for my first pregnancy but this time just eating because I need to. No sickness or heartburn thankfully.

MommaSmith · 01/01/2023 16:36

Hi all

Is there anyone here who is not married?
Whose surname is the baby getting?
Im torn between using my partners surname or pushing to use my name until we get married

Melusina123 · 01/01/2023 16:46

@MommaSmith we’re not married, child is getting double-barrelled surname. I wouldn’t change my name anyway so we’d always have double-barrelled. Also I have an interesting surname whereas partner’s is quite generic!

TheBeesKnee · 01/01/2023 17:11

@MommaSmith I'm not married and have no intention of getting married or changing my name, so baby will get a double barrel name.

I think if marriage is something you want then use your name until you're married. Sadly this forum is full of threads of women who gave their babies their partner's name and never got the ring. No one expects things to go wrong, but I do think it's best to be practical and act for the situation you're in (unmarried) and not the situation you wish you were in (married).

CatMad22 · 01/01/2023 17:11

Happy New Year everyone! I'm 21 weeks today and have started thinking about booking my 25 week appointment and potentially the whooping cough vaccine but I have a few reservations about having it.. I grew up with strong influences of alternative medicine and then was misdiagnosed by the NHS for 10+ years (Endometriosis) so I don't really have much faith.

Anyone else unsure about having it or can reassure me that it's ok? Thank you

Melusina123 · 01/01/2023 18:14

@CatMad22 I had it. I understand your worry, but whooping cough can kill babies, whereas you getting the jab will pass immunity to them until they can be vaccinated themselves and/or survive the infection. It is a very established, very safe vaccine. I had mine at 20wks, now 22wks and had no side effects from the vacc and little foetus is still moving about happily as far as I can tell.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 01/01/2023 20:43

I plan to have it on Thursday @CatMad22 , for all the reasons @Melusina123 mentions ☺️

wintersun21 · 01/01/2023 20:45

@CatMad22 @Melusina123 @IWillBeWaxingAnOwl I had it on the 29th as part of a walk-in at the hospital. No side effects for me! Definitely worth it ☺️

Flowersflowers121 · 01/01/2023 21:33

@CatMad22 I'm booked in for mine on Thursday :)

MissNat13 · 01/01/2023 21:37

@MommaSmith me and my partner are not married and our Son has his surname, and our new arrival will do too.
if we had a spare £10,000 we’d get married but that’s not happening yet. I’m happy they will have their fathers name, feels right to me. Maybe it’s cause I don’t like my surname though too. 🤣

Blue2020 · 01/01/2023 21:58

I’m going to book the vaccine in the next 3-4 weeks, depending on when I can get it from the gp.

CatMad22 · 01/01/2023 22:01

Thanks so much everyone for your reassurance, it's much appreciated 😊 I'll book in for the vaccine asap.

Buntymcgiggle · 02/01/2023 08:12

We're not married, my surname is awful, so I'd rather use Dp's. Though he thinks the same about his name!

Bananabreakfast123 · 02/01/2023 12:25

Hi all. Just wondering if anyone's found a list anywhere of newborn essentials? We've bought a few small bits and pieces (clothes etc) and some bigger items like the pram, car seat, next to me and nuna leaf but the more I speak to people, it seems we're quite unorganised. This is baby #1 and I don't really know what we need from day 1 and what's an extra nice to have. Any pointers would be helpful.

I'm currently 23 weeks and feel like bump has just popped so spending more money on clothes that fit than anything else.

OptimusPrime31 · 02/01/2023 12:49

I'm not married but baby is having partners surname. My surname is a pain as nobody can ever spell or pronounce it. I wouldn't wish the name on anyone 😛i figure the baby will always be part of my partners life, whether we're together or not so it was a no brainer really.

@Bananabreakfast123 yes there are so many things to consider! We're currently racking our brains over prams.im tempted to go for bugaboo fox 3 as its on sale in John lewis atm. Anyone got any other suggestions?
