@OptimusPrime31 I've had a few waves of nausea over the last week or so, and my appetite has dropped slightly - nothing like in the first trimester but a definitely a change as between 12-19 weeks I've not been able to stop eating!

Thanks! That's good to know. I thought I was getting this horrible sickness bug that's going around

Has anyone started thinking about a baby bedroom yet? We have a three bed house, and whilst our two big bedrooms are HUGE, the little room is very little.

I know realistically we probably won’t have guests etc when baby is here, but we plan to move in the next few years so we want the little room as a bedroom so it shows it CAN be, if that makes sense? If this baby outgrows it, hopefully we’ll have another before we go!

What are essentials in baby’s bedroom? It’s about 2.1m squares, so very small!

Any tips from seasoned parents? 😹

You're doing better than us. We have a two bed and we both work from home. We're hoping to move ASAP but our chances aren't great at the moment.

Honestly I think you'll be fine with a tiny room to begin with. They recommend the first six months in the parent's room anyways.

We'll all manage 😊

EllieJayneB · 19/12/2022 11:40

@Awkwardusername I've made a start on our spare bedroom (2 bed house) but because we don't have a loft, it was originally our dumping ground 😂 We've painted all the walls and only have the Moses basket in at the moment but starting to get the wardrobes etc ordered. Our spare room is also only VERY small so I'm maximising storage by getting a wardrobe with drawers in as well as a set of 6 drawers with eventually using one of them for toy storage etc. shelving is also a massive thing we are going to make use off!

raffika · 19/12/2022 11:48

@MommaSmith Ive been sleeping on my left side, right side and back - I know they don’t recommend back sleeping but sometimes that’s where I wake up 🤷🏻‍♀️ I wouldn’t worry about it - my understanding is that the left side allows maximum blood flow through the vena cava, but that sleeping on the right doesn’t particularly restrict the blood flow. I imagine it is more important when the baby is bigger for obvious reasons, so if you’re worried ask at your next appointment.

@Awkwardusername we’ve got a 4 bed house and the 4th bedroom is tiny. That’s where the baby is going once it leaves us until it outgrows a cot. We figured it’s easier and cheaper to keep a small room warm in the winter, and play etc at that age will be in the living parts of the house.

CatMad22 · 19/12/2022 13:26

Just joining in on the bedroom chat! We have a 2 bed flat, one room is currently my office which will become baby's room. I haven't changed it around yet because I'll still be working in there for a while longer. My husband doesn't WFH so hopefully in the new year we'll put a small wardrobe and chair in there for baby and get rid of my almost brand new desk 🤣

Luk · 19/12/2022 14:51

On bedrooms, we were thinking of having baby on her room from the off, and taking it in turns sleeping in there until she's old enough to be left alone. Not sure how this will work in practice but we really want to try and protect sleep as much as possible!

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 19/12/2022 14:58

We need to renovate our spare room. Thinking of Nordic sky blue (Dulux I think?). It's a horrible scrappy peach ATM. It's a big room and is a bit cold but we have no other option! Obviously at least first 6mo they will be in with us

AlwaysTryingToHelp · 19/12/2022 15:21

@Melusina123 Wonderful news on everything being well with your scan! 😍
@Laura993 A Baby Boy, Congratulations💙!

We are lucky we live in a 3 bed house, and this is our first child! We only bought the house in February and didn't move in until June due to renovating the whole property. We have the second largest room as our guest room and kept the smallest room quite plain on renovations due to us wanting that to be the babies room but not yet being pregnant! Everything in there is all ready to go, just need to do a feature wall with either a paint colour or wallpaper and then get the furniture and storage (Luckily it already has a small built in wardrobe which is perfect size for a baby/child). We wont do anything decoration until around March, so I have plenty of time to get inspiration! I love Pinterest for these sorts of things!!!

I have been feeling the baby move and kick everyday now since Thursday, especially in the evening once I have finished my dinner and I am just chilling watching television or something! It is incredible 😊

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl @lmw88 @wintersun21 thank you for replying! That's alright then. I suppose different places do different things but I can understand not being able to hear it until later on to avoid anxiety etc. I shall control my patience!

sunshine1987 · 19/12/2022 21:06

@Awkwardusername that’ll be absolutely fine, all you really need is a cot and chest of drawers. Everything else is a bonus but that’s all I used first time round a lot. We also had a nursing chair but there’s no reason why that has to be in baby’s room if it doesn’t fit (if you wanted one)

Is anyone experiencing increased gas this week? I'm 19 + 2. If I'm not burping, I'm farting and if I'm not doing either of those I'm bloated. Sorry for TMI 🤣 I get starving and then after a few mouthfuls I'm completely full and can't eat anymore. Hoping that this is normal!

Yes!! And I keep reminding my bf that it's only funny when I do it 😅😣

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 22/12/2022 10:22

All well at 19weeks 😊 need to go back in a few weeks as one measurement couldn't be obtained (baby was comfy and wouldn't move for them to get the angle they need!)

lmw88 · 22/12/2022 11:10

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl glad all went well such a relief I'm sure as always. I've got my 20wk scan next Friday (I'll be 21wks).

Urgh yes! If I don't let it out I end up with bad tummy ache which then gives me anxiety something is wrong with baby!

DH is sick of me but I've got a free pass for farts until she's here apparently 😂

elm26 · 22/12/2022 11:44

I've got really bad anxiety today. Almost 18 weeks and 20 week scan isn't until 12th Jan. I can't possibly book another private as I've been for 3 already and has 3 NHS scans due to my history but urgh I keep thinking something will go wrong 😢

harriethb · 22/12/2022 21:31

Had my 20wk scan today. All good with our little fella(!!!)

Only slight concern is about slightly restricted blood flow to the uterus which is a risk indicator for pre-eclampsia and low fetal growth. Will mean we get some extra scans. Not sure if anybody has experience of this?

Dr very keen to reassure me this was nothing to be concerned about at the moment but it’s hard not to worry / Google..!

CatMad22 · 22/12/2022 22:20

@OptimusPrime31 haha we get a free pass for sure 🤣🤣

@elm26 I'm the same with the anxiety, with not feeling movements yet but it's reassuring that the gas is a normal thing we're all experiencing.

Bananabreakfast123 · 23/12/2022 07:30

Hi all. Wondering if anyone has invested in a pregnancy pillow yet and can recommend one? I'm just about 22 weeks and barely have a bump but sleeping is becoming so uncomfortable because I keep rolling on to my front or wake up on my back which I'm keen to avoid. I've searched through old threads and the bbhugme seems to be a clear favourite but it's pricey and not sure if I can bring myself to spend the money. Can anyone recommend an alternative? Keen not to have one that fills the bed if possible.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 23/12/2022 07:37

I got mine from ASDA @Bananabreakfast123 and honestly really like it! I agree, I looked at BBHUGME but no matter how good the reviews I could not stomach 120£ for a pillow

Most of them do take over the bed but you also get the small wedge ones that wouldn't?

Bananabreakfast123 · 23/12/2022 07:59

Thanks @IWillBeWaxingAnOwl I think I might prefer a wedge one just because of the size and think it'll do the trick to stop me rolling back and forward but can't seem to find many recommendations which makes me wonder if they're any good. I've no idea what to look for at all 🤷 I'll maybe have a look in shops and supermarkets for own brand pillows rather than online.

CatMad22 · 23/12/2022 09:06

Hi @Bananabreakfast123, I haven't received it yet but I've asked for the V-Shape Support Pillow by Silent Night for Christmas - it's about £13 on Amazon and the reviews are decent.

Janch13 · 23/12/2022 18:36

@harriethb Congratulations 💙 I’m having a boy as well :)

The blood flow thing sounds a bit my my low PAPP-A, did they refer to it as this at all? Mine was flagged at my 12 week screening results.
