@elm26 & @MissNat13 Congratulations, both a baby girl 💕

I can't wait for my 20 week scan now on the 29th!!

harriethb · 14/12/2022 21:27

Hi everyone - I’m new here! I’ve heard talk of a Facebook group for people due May 2023 and I’d be keen to join. Does anyone have the link? Thank you!

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 14/12/2022 21:59

@harriethb I haven't heard of any Facebook group! As long as it's a private group, I would be happy to join

EllieJayneB · 14/12/2022 22:00

This is the Facebook group I'm apart of 💕

MommaSmith · 14/12/2022 22:01

Going to jump in here!

My 20w scan is on the 30th December
At least with Christmas near it gives me something else to look forward and countdown too!

I did start to join a FB group at the start but it was open so I left as we arent telling anyone except the grandparents until the baby is born 😅

harriethb · 14/12/2022 22:31

Ah - I saw posts about the group on another (now less active) May 2023 thread: www.mumsnet.com/talk/birth_clubs/4621986-due-may-2023?page=9&reply=122280965

But no recent links so we can’t join up - it is private so you can’t find it by scouring FB.

Do you have a link to your group @EllieJayneB?

sunshine1987 · 15/12/2022 08:06

This is the link to the private Facebook group that has us from mumsnet on there

ru53 · 15/12/2022 09:00

Thanks @harriethb for the link to this group. Hi everyone! I’m due end of May, having my 20 week scan just after Christmas and on my birthday! Is anyone else hungry all the time?? The guidance I’ve read is that you don’t really need many more calories than usual at this stage but I’m eating a lot, trying to stick to healthy things as much as I can and get plenty of fresh veg but just craving fat & sugar! I’m quite small naturally so not worried about gaining a bit of weight but a bit nervous I’m going to create a mega huge baby! At the same time, it just feels wrong to be hungry and not eat now I’m pregnant plus I still feel nauseous when I get hungry and eating seems to be the best fix! My instinct is to just listen to my body and keep eating?

MommaSmith · 15/12/2022 09:44

Hey!
Im trying not to over eat but I am also often quite hungry.

I try to eat smaller healthier meals but recently its been frozen chicken nuggets and chips at lunch because I cba to cook and my partners busy with work

That said, apparently my babys weight is low percentile so maybe eating more will help? IDK🤔

Awkwardusername · 15/12/2022 11:23

If it makes you feel better, I have eaten two chocolate oranges today and nothing else 🤦🏽‍♀️

Flowersflowers121 · 15/12/2022 11:53

Yeahhh, I also ate nothing but trash for the first 15 weeks because I was so nauseous hahaha only beige things would stay down

CatMad22 · 15/12/2022 12:00

I'm the same with the hunger! I get starving but then full very quickly with bloating afterwards. I agree that just eating as much you feel you need is the healthy way to be and giving into cravings too.

I've joined the FB group but felt a bit disheartened because everyone has such lovely bumps developing and I feel like mine is small in comparison at 18 + 4. Does anyone feel the same? It's my first baby and I have a retroverted uterus if that makes any difference.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 15/12/2022 12:09

@CatMad22 I was about to say joining the group prior to 20 week scan was a mistake for me. I have a miscarriage and end of T1 loss history and feel I have no bump and no movements. As a result of that thread I have cried with anxiety 3 times so far today 🙈🙈🙈 - absolutely not the fault of the people in the group, they all seem lovely, just a huge trigger for my own anxiety. Will join in properly at 20 wks, all going well.

CatMad22 · 15/12/2022 12:18

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl Aw I'm so sorry, please don't cry! I have read lots of things that some women don't show until really late on due to various factors like an athletic build, retroverted uterus, first baby etc. I feel the same, my 20 week scan is on the 28th so I'm hoping by then I'll feel reassured and will have felt him move at least, if not have a massive bump 🤣

Mayhavingbabyinmay · 15/12/2022 13:12

Honestly same with me - I'm constantly starving and feel nauseous when hungry but have gotten really self conscious about what I'm eating! I feel like I eat terribly, wanting takeout and just scared for the 20 week scan if anything goes wrong (although it can't come fast enough!!)

AlwaysTryingToHelp · 15/12/2022 14:48

Thanks for the links @EllieJayneB and @harriethb I have requested to join both groups!

harriethb · 15/12/2022 16:08

I’m the same - first baby; 18 weeks, 6 days. No ‘proper’ bump yet; bloating in the evening and I’m looking a bit flabbier but that’s probably down to the copious amounts of toast and double Christmas pudding helpings etc. Also no movements to speak of.

I have my 20 week scan a week today. Terrified / can’t wait. The gaps between the early scans are so tricky!

Hopefully that’s a bit reassuring for you :)

EllieJayneB · 15/12/2022 16:38

@harriethb @IWillBeWaxingAnOwl me too! This is my first pregnancy (currently 19+1) and I don't feel my body has changed at all yet 🤦🏻‍♀️ I've always had a slight "pouch" at the bottom of my belly and have been documenting with photos weekly to see if I can see any kind of change but other than looking slightly more weight has put on, no bump has shown for me either... I also haven't yet felt any movements but I was told I have an anterior placenta so this can be my reason for not feeling. Half the time I don't even feel pregnant and talking to my belly feels so unnatural... here's a photo just to show you from me when I was 12 weeks to now (taken yesterday) and there is no difference.

I struggled at first with my brain and could of easily became emotional over it because I just want to FEEL it and experience it like everyone else goes on about but everyone's bodies are so different and just because we don't appear pregnant, doesn't mean our bodies are not doing the work and ensuring our little ones perfect!

CatMad22 · 15/12/2022 16:41

Thank you @harriethb & @EllieJayneB, I feel better now knowing it's not just me. I haven't talked to my belly either, I do rub it now and again in case he can feel it and I generally have positive feelings/excitement but it'll be so much more real when I can see/feel things.

EllieJayneB · 15/12/2022 16:43

@CatMad22 I'm doing the same, I give my belly a little rub and sometimes a little tap now and again so that bubba knows I'm interacting but I can't bring myself to actually talk to my belly because I'd feel like a lunatic 🥲 Our bumps and movement will defo come soon, it's just playing the waiting game!

CatMad22 · 15/12/2022 16:46

@EllieJayneB No I'm the same! I would feel like a lunatic too. Hopefully we can all come on here after Christmas and say our babies have been keeping us all up doing somersaults 😅

EllieJayneB · 15/12/2022 16:47

@CatMad22 I'm super excited for that to come, I'll happily be kept awake by the little bugger doing summersaults than my bloody hip pain 😂😂

Flowersflowers121 · 15/12/2022 17:48

Hahaha awwwh, yeah that'll be nice! :)

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 15/12/2022 18:42

@EllieJayneB @harriethb that actually really helps, thank you both. I'm the same - have always had a little uterus fat pad, and also feel I've just got slightly fluffier. I want to start taking photos - it's another thing ive not done due to anxiety!
