Yes like that

I was out shopping and fainted and flopping forward and think may have hit head or body. Was sweating a lot and needed food and water. Called my EPU unit and said unless theres abdominal pain or vaginal bleeding its not their concern. Not sure what to do, whether to go a and e or leave it. Im ftm high risk but didn't have 16 weeks appointment. Also had really dark almost black stools today.

Wish there was some sort of guidebook.

Splashh · 13/10/2022 06:57

@Choc2022 sorry to hear, some people do faint in pregnancy dont know why. Aybe you need to take it easy for a bit. Why don't you try your midwife? There should be some sort of 24 hour line. If in doubt go to a&e!

TeddyBeans · 13/10/2022 07:42

@Choc2022 have you called triage? I don't think EPU is the right place to go after 12 weeks but not entirely sure as I've luckily never had to go. Second the idea of contacting midwife, she'll be able to listen for the heartbeat at least.

Hope you're okay now, rest up and try not to worry ❤️

LittleAcorn20 · 13/10/2022 08:15

@Choc2022 where I live it's always EPU or GP before 16 weeks and maternity triage after 16 weeks.
I'd try and ring triage, I think they'd see you x

Baby2iscooking · 13/10/2022 08:16

If you are after 17 weeks I’d call triage just to be on the safe side

Dreamingof3 · 13/10/2022 09:17

@Choc2022 I'd also recommend a call to triage or your midwife. Are you a negative blood type? As if you are and you could have bumped your tummy you would maybe need an anti d injection
Hope.ypure feeling ok xx

Perexi · 13/10/2022 10:54

@Choc2022 hope you are feeling better today, I would definitely be emailing the midwife team for peace of mind if nothing else!

I'm so hungry this week, having to have some toast or something mid morning just to keep me going! Although eating much less at dinner time so guess appetite is shifting around a bit. I haven't put any weight on yet but I was hoping to put on minimal weight while pregnant as bit overweight anyway 😳

firstlittleone · 13/10/2022 11:16

Any advice on travel systems would be a HUGE help. I’m a FTM so feel absolutely clueless especially when they all look the same! I came across a bababing?? But also heard the Mamas & Papas ones are a good choice. Any recommendations?

I'm at a loss too so keen to see the answers! I wasn't going to bother with a car seat as we're in London and don't have a car but I just read that you have to have a car seat to leave hospital...

You only need a carseat to leave hospital if you're going home in a car. A pushchair will do if you're walking/getting public transport 😊

That's what I logically thought but saw a few places saying different! What a minefield!

We'll be moving in Feb so no idea what transport options we'll use yet but good to know!

Dreamingof3 · 13/10/2022 13:14

I always thought about that...how can they force you to buy a carseat that won't ever be used 😅 although I can't imagine getting a bus after giving birth haha

We have been thinking of getting a car seat that stays fixed in the car so I wondered about leaving the hospital. Surely I could just take the baby in the pram to the car and then put them kn?

Choc2022 · 13/10/2022 14:01

Thanks all. Called 111 who advised to go to a and e as ive been having heavy heavy breathing - to rule out anything heart related. Results and bloods came back fine. They didnt check baby and when i called midwife today she said no need to check on baby, fainting is common.

Choc2022 · 13/10/2022 14:29

I too would love some advice re prams/pushchairs/travel systems. I was thinking of a pram bassinet and pushchair combo and a seperate car seat - one of the newborn to 12 years old as seems more cost effective?!

Im not sure what budget to look at - are the expensive (£500+) ones worth it?

BabyNumber3OnTheWay · 13/10/2022 14:35

Hi everyone, 20 week scan was this morning, went perfectly. After 2 girls we are expecting a baby boy 💙 shocked is an understatement but just very happy to be carrying a healthy baby.
Good luck to everyone with upcoming scans 😊

Room4onemore · 13/10/2022 15:08

Ordered my pram today, went for the i Andy orange as we need a double, that was after I got up for the toilet at 2:30 and fell down the last 3 steps 😞 hurt my shoulder and bruised my leg

Cdoc · 13/10/2022 15:12

@BabyNumber3OnTheWay lovely news, so happy for all the 20 week scans that are starting now 😊💙

Ah lovely news! Congratulations

I have heard bad things about Mamas&Papas own brand pushchairs - mainly that the colour peels off

I am interested in Cybex as have had most positive reviews about them. Thinking of buying a full travel system

Can't speak for them all, but my brother in law has a blue one for their little one (now 15 months) and they constantly tell us we HAVE to have one.
Theirs still looks brand new and has been on many a woodland walk and put in the street miles for an active couple.

We're tempted by the Bugaboo Fox 3 as the hood comes right down over the pram (lowest we've seen) which we feel might be useful for days out with family etc.

botleybump · 13/10/2022 16:43

Does anybody have any experience/thoughts on the Snuzpod 4?

Surprised by the amount of options for bedside sleeping!

Cdoc · 13/10/2022 16:50

@botleybump no experience with it but it’s the one we’ve been recommended by a few friends with babies! Hoping it goes in the Black Friday sale 🤞🏼

Thanks! It's been on our list of recommended bits/market leaders and noticed it's 22% off on Amazon right now.
We were weighing up whether to buy or wait for Black Friday.
