@LittleAcorn20 I feel the tightness as well on Sunday for a few hours while I was standing and walking around a lot. It was uncomfortable like my skin was going to to burst or something. I’m only 21W and doesn’t have a big bump either.

I feel fine now though, just try to rest and lie down as much as you could.

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 08/11/2022 12:06

Anyone else have their 20 week scan Friday and starting to feel the nerves?!

I’ve got mine on Friday afternoon

ToffeeEl · 08/11/2022 15:07

Just a bit of advice around movements please, after how long of not feeling anything (or very little) should I be concerned and contact someone?
Ive noticed a change compared to the last 3 weeks

TeddyBeans · 08/11/2022 15:21

@ToffeeEl they say not to worry until 24 weeks as baby has lots of space to move and may have moved somewhere that you can't feel them. Once they start to be more reliably then the recommendation is to count how long it takes to get 10 kicks. Every so often you should take an hour and see how many kicks you get in that hour

CristinaNov182 · 08/11/2022 15:48

@ToffeeEl i think it’s early to worry now. Don’t think there is a pattern yet. Unless there is a significant change?

but after 24 or 28 weeks, need to check with the midwife when the pattern should be established, you can use a kick counting app. I’ve used a basic one 5 years ago, I’ll be looking for one that can show me a graph per hour/day etc so I can see if the pattern changes.

they say min 10 kicks per hour (for more advanced pregnancies), but actually the change in pattern is what can be concerning, some women don’t ever feel 10 per hour, but if they start feeling less than their normal, whatever that is, then they need to go for an assessment.

in any case, if you’re worried, trust yourself, better go to the daily assessment unit at your hospital. You can just walk in, I’ve been twice, they only had 2-3 w there at a time.

LittleAcorn20 · 08/11/2022 16:39

@Rose429 that's exactly it, like.my skin is going to burst open at the top of bump, just under my boobs. Be a funny way for baby to come out haha.
Trying to get rest in where I can but the 2 and a half year old can make that somewhat tricky 🤣

Babynum2 · 08/11/2022 17:39

@LittleAcorn20 i got this all the time last pregnancy mainly at work because i was on my feet a lot so at the end of the day my whole bump felt hard and strained if you know what i mean. Just try to rest a bit hopefully it will pass.

Babynum2 · 08/11/2022 17:42

@ToffeeEl Baby sleeps up to 14 hours in the day from 20ish weeks. They say to worry about lack of movement later on. Id say if you dont feel anything rest of the day call first thing in morning to ease your mind. Just remember theres lots of room in there still for baby to hide. Ive been getting kicks down low into my bum because hes sitting in my back! If he wasnt kicking downwards i probably wouldnt feel it because hes so far back.

LittleAcorn20 · 08/11/2022 17:42

Thanks @Babynum2 hope it does. It's driving me insane. Never had this with my first until literally the last few weeks where you just get uncomfortable all the time.
I don't think I want my dinner it feels that uncomfy!

alotoftutus · 09/11/2022 21:40

Hey how is everyone?

I had my 20 week scan and and so relieved that everything looks healthy :) I am also team boy! I was really upset after the scan however as promised my children and husband but more so the kids that I wouldn't find out the sex and we would do a gender reveal balloon and confetti canon all together, not a party just us. The sonograpger refused to write down the sex for me for some reason and just told me :( i still did the balloon for the kids but it was so annoying not to be able to share it with them .
I have 2 of each already so didn't really have a preference (maybe if I'm honest was slightly more hoping for a girl) my youngest is 3 however and was/ is devastated 😆 she had already decided the baby would be called Rosie Poppy princess Aurora lol and she keeps asking me if I can change it and get Rosie back 😬 I've broken her heart!

I'm 21 weeks now, I had no sickness weeks 19 and 20 and was so relieved it seemed to be over! However the last few days it's back and I'm fuming! I've been sick 5 times today - so annoying! I'm now starving because my nice healthy dinner stayed down for all of 3 minutes so I'm off to eat a sticky toffee pudding and custard- I really hop baby has no issues keeping that down 🤣

MarigoldMoonStone · 09/11/2022 21:46

I’ve got my scan on Friday and my 3 year old daughter is also going to be gutted if it’s a boy! Haha!! I haven’t properly told her we are having a baby yet but casually mention one day there might be another baby here and she is just pure adamant it will be a sister

Cats23 · 09/11/2022 22:32

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow.
Im nervous.
This pregnancy # 6 for me (mC #2 @ 10 weeks)
My pregnancies make me anxious until I reach 27 weeks and there are a few reasons for this
#1- Was told a high risk of downs syndrome at 12 week scan & bloods, I was 18 at the time and refused the amnio- I was having my baby regardless. Dd was born without DS.
At 24 weeks though I developed pre-eclampsia and delivered at 27 weeks,1lb 13 ( she is 19 now- totally fine)
Miscarriage with DC#2.
Dc#3 I had HG from 6-18weeks
Dc#4 &5 fine.
Dc#6 all well so far.
I have suffered Pretty awful nausea with all from 7-18 weeks though and worry of a prem birth and disability too, Im older now too (37) so extra worry this time and I have to have a daily injection from 28 weeks- 8 week post delivery to thin blood this time too.
I have 2 Girls and 2 boys so really dont mind what we have next, I really like the girls name we have chosen and thats the only reason I want a girl a teeny bit more but ofcourse health is all we want.
We are doing a cupcake reveal this time , my younger 2x children ( 7&5yrs old) are so excited though DD age 5 cried earlier at the thought of having a boy- she really wants a girl and so did Ds age 7.., but he got a new coat at the weekend and seen a matching one for a baby boy, so now wants a boy for this reason alone🤣🤣

Good luck to all having scans this week and to those already had them, Im glad to read all is well

iratepirate · 10/11/2022 06:36

Just so tired at the moment and still can’t shift the constant nausea. 😔 But I can feel regular movements so I’m happy enough.

Missy95 · 10/11/2022 07:50

Hi ladies, I have been reading in the background for some time now. I am 20+5 today, due 25th March. We have had our 20 week and and is all perfect, we are keeping the sex a surprise 🥰 baby is very active and I feel lots of movement and little kicks, but mostly at night time. Like someone else said, I am also on my feet at work all day, so baby comes out to play when I relax - usually when my dog is curled up next to me haha!

First time mum here, we have lots of support and a very big family - so although we haven't really bought anything, we have pretty much everything that we can think of! And amazon prime for when we realise we haven't got 🤣

Ive been doing some free online courses with The Positive Birthing Company on instagram, I have one booked this weekend for breastfeeding. The last one I did on baby care was really informative so I plan on doing more of those and hoping there are some classes local to me. I am already paediatric first aid trained due to my job. Im a bookworm and love to read before bed, so any recommendations for books would be soo appreciated!

I hope everyone is getting on well! I still find it hard to talk about my pregnancy - still haven't really 'announced' to people.
So have given myself a kick to talk to you ladies more, hoping it will ease my anxiety 🥰 xxx

CristinaNov182 · 10/11/2022 09:52

@alotoftutus @Missy95 @MarigoldMoonStone - congrats on the healthy scan

my DD also wanted a sister and she had stubbornly rejected the idea that it could be a boy from the start. It’s a girl for us so she’s very happy.

your children will get over the disappointment though when they see they baby I’m sure, my DD would have loved the baby no matter what. They are all crazy about babies. A bit hard to make her understand she won’t be a doll or ready to play with her.

@Cats23 good luck tomorrow x

MarigoldMoonStone · 10/11/2022 12:51

Yea that’s what my daughter is like she says sister, I say it might be a brother…”no a sister” haha. But yes for sure, I think she will be happy when they are here no matter what. Can’t wait to see them together!!

Perexi · 10/11/2022 14:44

Scan done and all ok 🥰 as we thought it's a little boy with super long legs!

Cats23 · 10/11/2022 15:43

We had our scan, baby is looking well BUT wasnt very co-operative in that its lying face down, did turn but had hands over face so measurements for heart and mouth have to be re-done next week and it had its legs crossed! so we dont know sex yet, which ofcourse is a bit dissapointing as our young children have been non stop excited for , we also ordered cupcakes which were to be filled with blue or pink icing as the Dc wanted to be surprised this way, so We've had to just pay for plain chocolate cupcakes🤣🤣
This happened with Dc#2 all way through so we had to wait until birth to find out haha!

Perexi · 10/11/2022 17:52

The one thing they did say is the placenta is low laying so I have a scan booked to check it's moved for birth reading up apparently most do move so fingers crossed

Franklin321 · 10/11/2022 17:59

@Perexi mine is low as well and a rescan at 32 weeks, I read 90% of them move up by then! 🤞

Perexi · 10/11/2022 18:11

Franklin321 · 10/11/2022 17:59

Yes I just saw that on the NHS website so thats reassuring! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

My rescan is a bit later at 34 weeks so hopefully its shifted out of the way!

LittleAcorn20 · 10/11/2022 18:33

@Missy95 congrats.
Book recommendation here for you www.amazon.co.uk/Modern-Midwifes-Guide-Pregnancy-Beyond/dp/1785042963

And The Positive Birth Book and The Positive Breastfeeding Book too 😊

AK93 · 10/11/2022 19:15

@Perexi Same here and also rescan at 34 weeks, everywhere I'd read said 32 weeks so I don't feel so alone in it being 34 weeks now!! Mine was partially covering cervix (I could see on the scan aswell and it didn't look too much but hard to say with no measurement and sonographer wouldn't let me worry about it!) so although I have no idea how I'd prefer to give birth I really hope it does move so there's potential of more options and less risk for issues associated with it. (Being partially covering that is) Fingers crossed for us all! xx

Oh thank you! I have the one you linked as a audio book and totally forgot about it!

Babynum2 · 10/11/2022 19:47

@Cats23 Not anything anyone says changes how you feel but your not alone! I'm anxious to this is pregnancy 7 for me I had a miscarriage at 14 weeks so was very worried until I crossed that mark. I also am on blood thinners due to previous blood clot in pregnancy on my lung. I can't wait to just give birth and hold my boy in my arms and the pregnancy to be done with but even then you have years and years of worrying about them while they are alive its never ending!
