Had my flu vaccine but currently suffering with the worst cold I ever remember having. Taking paracetamol, rubbing vicks and steam inhalation but still feeling so rough!

TTC24 · 02/11/2022 14:25

Hi ladies, I was on the previous thread but just come back on after a while!
I'm 21 weeks now (due 15th with a baby boy, 2nd baby). I'm definitely getting my flu&whooping jabs, but what are your opinions on the covid booster?

iratepirate · 02/11/2022 14:45

@TTC24 i’ve given up on getting the covid booster. I can’t find one which isn’t Moderna, which caused me fairly to have some fairly scary side effects last year.
I’d absolutely have it if I could find a clinic offering any other kind, though, as I think it’s worth getting if you can.

Cats23 · 02/11/2022 14:47

Babynum2 · 01/11/2022 19:07

@Cats23 I was also 18 with DD1 isnt it just so different when your older! Im glad i had her young she is turning 10 next month and she is my little helper with her brother and hopefully the new babyboy.

My calculation, Im almost 10yrs older than you now? ( I had #2 age 22,#3 age 30 #4 age 32) 37 is a much harder age so far- I am so tired, the others werent so bad but 18 & 22 were so much easier on my body,.I feel too that I hd more patience when younger too- Which is odd

TTC24 · 02/11/2022 14:56

@iratepirate im the same. I booked it, then she rang to say I can't have it as it isn't suitable. I'm gonna contact local health department and see if there's anywhere offering!

iratepirate · 02/11/2022 15:08

@TTC24 thats kind of them. I’ve had no way of knowing til I turned up on the day which they’d offer. I’ve had three failed apt attempts at it so far 😔

iratepirate · 02/11/2022 15:15

Anyone else struggling to shift the nausea? I’ve managed to eat a bowl of grapes today so far. Cannot stomach anything else. 😔

alotoftutus · 02/11/2022 15:24

@iratepirate oh no. Mines started easing up only really the last week (I'm 20+3). I'm noticing I can stomach a bigger variety of foods than I have been able to for months. How many weeks are you now? It's relentless isn't it :( hopefully yours stops soon. Xxx

I take a loratadine a day to try and stop the nausea. Most times it works, every so often it doesn't

@alotoftutus 21wks but it has just never eased up tbh.

@TeddyBeans thank you, I’ll try that.

Blocklynn · 02/11/2022 16:32

Had our 20 week scan today, baby doing well 🥰 we turned away as certain bits were checked so the gender is still a surprise.

I’ve got to go back at 32 weeks for another scan as they said I have a low placenta.
NHS website says 9 out of 10 move themselves before the next scan. I hope that’s the case as the idea of having a caesarean terrifies me 😞

Franklin321 · 02/11/2022 16:49

@Blocklynn thats the same as me, back at 32 weeks for a scan due to low lying placenta. Did they tell you how many mm yours was away? I’m having a section anyway as I had one in my previous birth so doesn’t make much difference to me but if it stays low baby might arrive a couple of weeks before I expected! It definitely appears most move up so fingers crossed yours does 🤞

Hi ladies, I was on the previous thread but just come back on after a while!
I'm 21 weeks now (due 15th with a baby boy, 2nd baby). I'm definitely getting my flu&whooping jabs, but what are your opinions on the covid booster?

Despite taking the flu and whooping cough vaccines, I’m personally not getting the covid booster. I miscarried in January shortly after taking my last covid booster and although I’ll never be able to prove if they were linked, I’ll also never be able to rule it out

LifeOfRiley1 · 02/11/2022 16:58

Sorry, reading my post back again, I don’t mean to put anyone off the booster or make anyone fearful, it’s purely my reasoning behind not accepting it.

havanamama · 02/11/2022 17:03

We had a full discussion about the Covid seasonal booster.

I had my 4th jab, felt fine and now feel so much more confident and protected in social situations, knowing that I’ve done something to protect me and baby if I caught Covid, to have a milder illness.

Room4onemore · 02/11/2022 17:06

I’m not having the covid jab, they are fairly sure that my husband has heart failure caused by the covid jab so it’s definitely a no from me

TeddyBeans · 02/11/2022 17:25

Jesus @Room4onemore that's horrendous, your poor hubby!

I didn't get any covid jabs after the initial 2. Still haven't had covid and have been working in schools and nurseries since it all began 🤷‍♀️ I may be being naive but it doesn't concern me massively

Franklin321 · 02/11/2022 17:30

@LifeOfRiley1 very similar to my situation and I’ve also decided against another Covid booster. Have had the flu and whooping cough though!

alotoftutus · 02/11/2022 17:33

@iratepirate :( my third was like that. I was pretty much sick until I gave birth it was horrific - although it got a bit less from 26-28 weeks.

Babynum2 · 02/11/2022 17:39

@iratepirate Im still sick daily I havr HG though. Some days i can eat a few things and others i dont eat at all. I just got back from Cyrpus and I didnt eat pretty much the whole time i couldnt bring myself to go into the all inclusive because the smells.

I also will not have any more covid boosters ive only had 2 but i lost my grandad to a heart attack 2 days after having it and its just scared me completley. Each to their own!

iratepirate · 02/11/2022 17:39

@alotoftutus isn’t it weird how different it can be each time around?! 😭

Room4onemore · 02/11/2022 18:48

@TeddyBeans i had the first 2 as well but no more, I haven’t had covid either and I’m not really concerned, I’ve got 7 kids and none of them have bought it home

Blocklynn · 02/11/2022 19:01

@Franklin321 no they didn’t say and I didn’t know to ask at the time. I’ve looked at the printed notes and it just says low anterior placenta, it wasn’t something I had thought I’d have as I’ve been feeling movement for a little while now.
Hopefully it will sort itself for both of us, we can do without extra complications!

Cats23 · 02/11/2022 19:01

I've had the first 2 covid vaccinations, Im not having boosters.

I had covid before my first vacconation then In Aug, it was 100% milder in August but I dont feel it necessary for boosters

Will be having flu anf whooping cough though

Cats23 · 02/11/2022 19:04

My nausea eased a few weeks ago , @17 weeks, that seems to have been the pattern with my last 4 too- Nausea from 7weeks-17weeks.
Ofcourse Ive been worried the last few weeks though as no more nausea!!!
