@hol92 @firstlittleone 20 week scan for me on Monday too. Seriously hoping to start feeling 'something' soon, I'm surprisingly calm about not feeling movements yet but still feel I'm missing out 😂

CristinaNov182 · 01/11/2022 12:11

is there any mum here on her final pregnancy?

Ive have a DD and we don’t want to have any more children after this.

Looking fwd to the baby times (I look at my DD baby pics and I miss her baby self (time passes so quickly !) though she’s such a joy, all “grown up” at 4 and reasoning and understanding everything).

it’s a bit bitter sweet, if I were younger (42 ) maybe I’d have more. Or maybe not, it’s also hard work :)))

Dreamingof3 · 01/11/2022 12:20

@CristinaNov182 me! This is baby number 3, we did say we were done at two...but changed our minds 😅 I'm trying to enjoy the pregnancy (don't always succeed!) And im really looking forward to the baby stage again, sleepness nights included. As I know it's the last I want to soak it all up and also can't wait to see my girls be big sisters 💓

TeddyBeans · 01/11/2022 12:22

@CristinaNov182 this is my last. DP and I have decided that 2 babies is plenty and we live in an expensive bit of the country so not intending to price ourselves out of the housing market/needing a massive car by having too many kids. The world seems geared towards 4 people families - you always get holidays and days out for 2 adults and 2 children

My last baby 6 years ago, before this was my last. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

I still cannot believe in pregnant and I’m 21 weeks now. My eldest daughter will be nearly 15 when this baby is born, I feel ancient. I am excited -ish now though!

Anyone on here used Rascal and Friends nappies? I used Pampers before but found they smelt chemicaly, didn’t rate Aldi and thought they were bulky. The stage 3+ fine though! So I’ve brought these Rascal & Friends to try. Wondered if anyone had had them before and found them good/bad.

This is 100% my last #5!

#4 was our last but 4.5 years later, I feel we really wanted 1 more.
I have 2 older DC from first relationship they are 19 & 14 now, I was 18 having DC1,Im now 37.

Noodle20 · 01/11/2022 14:53

@CristinaNov182 this is number 2 and def our last, no particular reason other than I'm getting older and feel like our family will be complete with the 2 little people.
I really admire anyone who chooses to have more

iratepirate · 01/11/2022 15:00

I’m not sure if we can say for sure, yet. Provided all goes well, this will be DC2.
We’d both love a larger family, but have currently had more failed pregnancies than successful ones, so I wouldn’t like to count my chickens, as it were.

LifeOfRiley1 · 01/11/2022 15:06

Had our 20 week scan today and baby is perfectly healthy - I am so relieved after being so anxious for so long. Our scan lasted around 45 minutes in total and luckily there was a student in the room so the sonographer was describing everything out loud which relaxed me as opposed to being silent. I’ve to go back for a re-scan next Thursday as they couldn’t get a full measurement of baby’s heart due to the way they were lying however she advised she wasn’t concerned about the heart at all. I was then taken for my flu and whooping cough vaccinations - Luckily my midwife forewarned me that I would be offered these at my 20 week scan and I was able to research into these to make an informed choice - otherwise I wouldn’t have been prepared for this!

Choc2022 · 01/11/2022 16:46

This is my first so undecided. Anyone have any ideas on how to 'bond' with bump? I've started talking to the bump, just narrating my day but nothing else.

botleybump · 01/11/2022 16:49

@iratepirate chatting through the day is a great idea!
I was stumped on this too and found that being really mindful and present when rubbing my bump oil AM and PM added a lovely connection experience to the day.
My partner has actually started doing it too and finds it helps it feel more 'real' to him too.

ToffeeEl · 01/11/2022 17:07

I also had my scan last week all looking good and healthy and she was happy with where the placenta is. I've also been lucky considering it's my first pregnancy that I've felt movements for 4ish weeks and my partner can also feel some kicks now too so feels more real. We're having a girl 💗

I'm just wondering if anyone else is still waiting for the second trimester boost to begin? Im more drained and weak than ever, and out of breath just putting my pjs on (which these days is the second I get through the door..)
Or does anyone else feel the same?

ToffeeEl · 01/11/2022 17:09

@LifeOfRiley1 I'm really lucky with the sonographer in that she was saying out loud everything she was seeing as she went along too including the measurements. Really settled us both and made us feel like we could ask anything even if daft

Babynum2 · 01/11/2022 19:03

My last was supposed to be my son! Its been a bit if a journey as this is my second time pregnant on contraception this time it was on the copper coil. I have such bad pregnancies and early babies so im really hoping they will consider me to have my tubes tied but i think they will tell me im to young. I could not go through this again!!!

Babynum2 · 01/11/2022 19:07

@Cats23 I was also 18 with DD1 isnt it just so different when your older! Im glad i had her young she is turning 10 next month and she is my little helper with her brother and hopefully the new babyboy.

Blocklynn · 01/11/2022 19:16

I feel really old when I read about all the mums that have several children by my age 🙈 I’ll be 37 when baby is born and I’ll be a ftm.
Got my 20 week scan tomorrow, I’m not as nervous as at my 12 week but hoping everything goes ok.
I like the bump bonding ideas, I like feeling the little kicks and will have to start trying to remember to talk to bump ❤️

muminlndn · 01/11/2022 19:59

@LittleAcorn20 @CristinaNov182 Thanks both for your messages, after an immediate wobble post-scan I think we've settled in to the idea that it's just something that will be monitored and worst case it will mean early delivery. Very unlikely something is inherently wrong with baby, hopefully like your little one @LittleAcorn20 any growth differences will resolve by preschool age if not sooner.
Luckily I've only got a week to wait until a follow up scan with a fetal medicine consultant, I'll definitely ask about the aspirin. Whatever happens at the scan next week, I'll have regular scans from 28 weeks now due to the placental blood flow measurement.

hol92 · 02/11/2022 07:07

Just seeing a lot of people saying they were offered the flu and whooping cough vaccine at the 20 weeks scan, did everyone have this at the scan and did you end up having them or opting out? :)
I seem to have awful anxiety about this scan and it’s not until Monday! Just wish I could feel a flutter or anything before so I’m not so anxious, I had a bad stabbing/lightening pain low down to the right last night that kept taking my breath away so don’t think that’s helped x

iratepirate · 02/11/2022 07:21

@hol92 I was offered them at my 20wk scan but had already had them arranged thru my GP surgery, wish I’d known they could do them at the scan and then I could have avoided another morning off 🙈

muminlndn · 02/11/2022 07:53

@hol92 I was told the midwife can do the whooping cough one at my 28 week appointment, but not sure about flu - I probably need to make an appointment at my gp surgery

Dreamingof3 · 02/11/2022 08:29

@hol92 I was offered them after my scan on Monday and I had both. Whooping cough in particular can be really really bad for babies so getting the jab in pregnancy gives them some protection before their old enough to get their vaccinations

havanamama · 02/11/2022 08:32

I’ve got my first cold and sore tonsils.

I’ve taken 500mg of Paracetamol and tea with ginger, but is there anything else safe to use? Sprays? Lemsips? 🤔😕

hol92 · 02/11/2022 11:14

thats handy to know as midwife mentioned them but didn’t say about then being offered at the 20 week scan - thank you :)

I could have written this as was my exact experience yesterday although no student she was just a great sonographer!
