I’m on aspirin, I had a little boy at 21 weeks and I have a high bmi so from 28 weeks I’m on blood thinners as well

firstlittleone · 29/10/2022 11:34

Having a pretty rough time mentally. I’m 18w5 with my placenta sitting at the front so I know it’s unlikely I’ll feel any movement yet but I’m within my own head that somethings wrong with the baby. I’ve had soooo much reassurance from family and friends that have been pregnant but I can’t help but worry! Feel like the period between 12-20 weeks is a strange no man’s land where the initial symptoms drop off and you don’t feel very pregnant. Praying this passes sooner rather than later after having a rough 1st trimester with sickness, I just want to enjoy this now !!!

alotoftutus · 29/10/2022 11:44

@firstlittleone it's hard this pregnancy malarkey isn't it! I haven't felt anything and am 20 weeks tomorrow. I don't know where my placenta is yet but I assume is at the front as all my other children's have been, and I don't usually feel movement until 22/23 weeks xxx

Perexi · 29/10/2022 12:46

I never really thought about the mental side of things before I got pregnant but it's much more full on than expected isn't it! And the time between appointments where you get tangible feedback that all is ok seems to take forever! Sorry to hear you are struggling @firstlittleone nearly made it to 20 weeks (we're very similar in timelines as im 18+3) is your scan soon? 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Perexi · 29/10/2022 12:49

I made the switch to maternity tights today, oh my god why didn't I switch sooner they are so much more comfortable!

I'm off to a family party tonight, first time seeing most since we told everyone! Apparently everyone thinks we're having a boy even without seeing me and my mum's having to shut down everyone guessing the babies birth weight already 😂 I'm not even halfway there yet!

Dreamingof3 · 29/10/2022 13:24

@firstlittleone I'm sorry you're feeling a bit rubbish 😔
This is my third pregnancy, first with an anterior placenta and it's making me super anxious (well more so that usual 😅) I'm 20 weeks tomorrow and I think I can feel the odd thing but I'm not sure. I was feeling much more in my last pregnancy at this point. I have my scan on Monday and am so so nervous, even though we've had a 16 week scan as well 😫

I moved into maternity leggings at about 12 weeks 🤣 best thing ever feeling everything be nice and secure inside tighter clothes instead of cutting you off across the middle or flobbing about everywhere imo 😁

Re: baby weight guesses, we made a thing of it. Before my 16 week gender scan we got everyone to guess sex, date and weight. I have a list on my phone ready for when DD finally makes her appearance!

@alotoftutus most non pregnant folks think it’s just the physical side of things that affect you the most - don’t get me wrong being violently sick wasn’t pleasant but it passes and I couldn’t care about how I look physically! But it really is an uphill struggle MH wise - scaniexty, not feeling movements, not feeling symptoms. It’s alot!
@Perexi my scan is bang on 20 weeks so just over a week, hoping I can keep thoughts at bay until then! i can’t bring myself to do a private scan i had 3 prior to my 12 weeks 😂
@Dreamingof3 I’m sure all you’ve done is compare this pregnancy to your other 2! It’s hard not too though but like everyone tells me to reassure no pregnancy is the same 🙈 fingers crossed for you on Monday. Not long to go!! 🫶🏼

Dreamingof3 · 29/10/2022 17:47

@TeddyBeans we did this for my last baby! Had some wild guesses as my first was 10lb5 😂😂

I've bought something else today 🤦‍♀️ a joie serina swivel swing thing 😂 Facebook bargain and the girls have currently got their babies 'sleeping' in there

TeddyBeans · 29/10/2022 18:32

@Dreamingof3 10lbs 5!? Crikey I thought 8lbs 4 was bad enough 🤣 I haven't got any guesses over 9lbs so that's something

Suffering pretty bad with my anxiety today. Ive always had it but its not normally this often so im putting it down to hormones. It seems to be worse when im home with nothing to do and not busy! Just very overwhelming feeling but not sure why and thats the worst bit about it. Hoping it passes soon and doesnt get worse!

MarigoldMoonStone · 29/10/2022 19:01

Yes I’m definitely feeling the “is everything okay in there” worries - roll on the 20 week scan!! 2nd baby but still not felt any movements, well I don’t think anyway thought I had but like someone else said think it’s just my wishful thinking!
scan isn’t until the 11th, feels soo long away!

LittleAcorn20 · 29/10/2022 20:14

@firstlittleone @Babynum2 anyone and everyone else struggling mentally...
I hope that you have great support around you from partner, family and friends and if it gets too much then remember perinatal mental health teams exist as part of maternity services.
PND and mental health postnatally is discussed a lot but I struggled horrendously with pre-natal anxiety and depression in my last pregnancy.
Not linked to movement, my mind was cruel, I worried and worried that I wouldn't be a good enough Mum, that I didn't deserve such overwhelming happiness, that something would go wrong or had to turn out badly. There was lots going on in my life before getting pregnant that exacerbated these feelings. Lots of intrusive thoughts.
Peaked as a mental breakdown at 21 weeks at which point my dad and husband took charge and rang triage who immedietly referred me for some help.
Lots of hormones raging, lots of changes happening/that we are anticipating.
So just to say that no matter what is making your mental health bad, pre-natal support is available too if you feel you need it. While NHS mental health services are stretched, pregnancy has a magic way of bumping you to the tops of referral lists and it's so important to never be afraid to reach out. I took antidepressant medication throughout the remainder of my pregnancy and breastfeeding (no adverse effects on my beautiful baby) and had some CBT too.
Sharing my experience solely for awareness if anyone else is seriously struggling and always happy to chat via inbox if preferred.

Whydotheyallhaverubbishwheels · 30/10/2022 07:42

Hi all, sorry I've been quite bsent, trying to keep up but life is busy

I'm 19weeks now, had regular movement for 2 weeks but I've only known thats what it is because it's my second. Would have been clueless otherwise. I didn't feel baby for 2 days so the hospital asked me to come in and check me over, baby had just spun around and was breach so I couldn't feel anything. The midwife was very lovely and reassuring.

It's def too early to notice patterns but the sudden change and a family member recently losing a baby at 34 weeks had me so worried. They did pick up an infection though so I'm very glad I went in

firstlittleone · 30/10/2022 14:02

@LittleAcorn20 thank you for sharing!
I am very glad to have this group to be able to vent and feel less alone - I have an amazing support system at home but definitely not the same as they aren’t feeling the same!
hope everyone has brighter weeks ❤️

Dreamingof3 · 31/10/2022 11:42

20 week scan this morning...everything they saw looked good but there was quite a lot they couldn't see (including the details of the heart). Anterior placenta, not covering the cervix thankfully, but baby was using it to hide behind and then also hiding behind my c section scar 🤦‍♀️

Still kind of nervous that there could be issues but happy to get another scan in 👍😂

TeddyBeans · 31/10/2022 11:44

So I had my consultant call this morning and after months of wondering what it was for - I get extra scans because I developed preeclampsia last pregnancy. Also been offered the option to go on antivirals from 36 weeks because of a case of coldsores last time that decided to pop up downstairs. He did say that because I haven't had any further outbreaks since DS was born the risk was very low though so I don't know if I'll bother with that one unless I have an outbreak this time round

TeddyBeans · 31/10/2022 11:45

@Dreamingof3 glad to hear your scan went okay! Hopefully they can tick everything off next time round 😊 DD wasn't in a better position for our second shot so be prepared to go for a walk and drink lots of cold water to get bubs to move!

Congrats, hope you get the second one soon too!

mine also likes to run away from the scan probe, maybe the sound waves bother her, I hope she is still for Wed.

ChristmasJumpers · 31/10/2022 15:30

@TeddyBeans I had a consultant call this morning too, rescheduled from last Monday. I had no idea why I needed it other than it being an IVF pregnancy. Turns out it was a box ticking exercise to confirm what they already know - that I have no other known risk factors and can stay under midwife care. 5 minutes of a call!

TeddyBeans · 31/10/2022 15:45

@ChristmasJumpers sounds a bit pointless...surely they could have just confirmed with your midwife instead of having to call you?

Just home from 20 week scan. I wanted to know gender but that's didn't. Sonography showed me on screen and printed but I couldn't work it out 🙈😂. Anyone got any ideas?

@Mrs2022 they didn’t tell you?

or what did they show you? Couldn’t say it outright or what?

I don’t know what I’m looking at in that pic.

TeddyBeans · 31/10/2022 16:18

@Mrs2022 oooh I don't know, I can't make out what's what in that picture 😅
