@Dreamingof3 I was planning on doing that too actually! But I've seen the one I want for £150 off and wondering will it get any better than that lol!

Choc2022 · 20/10/2022 14:51

Does anyone have experience of buying prams and knowing 'best time'? I was going to go to the baby show this weekend but have a few things on and wasn't sure if too early. I was thinking black friday or christmas sales. Does anyone think 'you get what you pay for' with prams?

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 20/10/2022 14:55

@Hopingforarainbow27 I was looking at the Mamas and Papas Occarro, downloaded the bounty app and they had an offer for over 50% off on the bundle! Managed to get pram with carry cot and seat, car seat, car seat base, adaptors and a cup holder thing for £699 when it should have been about £1,500. I was hesitant to order it so early as I'm only 17 weeks but it was just too good an offer to turn down when it was exactly what we wanted. Was delivered 2 days later too and has been swiftly taken to my mums for storage.

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 20/10/2022 14:57

@Choc2022 I definitely feel like there's a difference in "sturdiness" in the cheaper ones v some of the more expensive, we looked around a bit before deciding on the one we wanted and some of them felt so light and wobbly I almost felt like they weren't secure

Hopingforarainbow27 · 20/10/2022 15:41

@AGirlsNameIsAryaStark I must look that up. I am going for the baby jogger as it goes up to five years and just attaching a reclining car seat to it. It's £350 in the sale. It's really good and sturdy and plenty of leg room!

ToffeeEl · 20/10/2022 16:24

I'm looking to maybe get something in January sales, have seen some good offers come and go (a lot of them on the manufacturer own websites) but was too early for me to feel comfortable.

Would love to hear recommendations if anyone has heard good things or with past experience good or bad (my mother and I have no clue at all!)

ChristmasJumpers · 20/10/2022 16:50

We got a Graco Bear and Friends travel system which was an absolute steal as it was found in the back of a shop warehouse and no longer sold. We got it for £100!! It is quite bulky but looks so cosy I can forgive its size. It's nowhere near as neat as some of the newer prams look as the pushchair bit stays in place and the carry cot/car seat attach to it so it looks a bit busy. For the price I really can't complain though. Its super sturdy and steers like a dream

iratepirate · 20/10/2022 17:18

Excited for all of your pram plans.

We don’t really live in a pram-friendly area (very rural) so haven’t bothered with one. I used slings and carriers all the way and plan to do the same this time around.

Dreamingof3 · 20/10/2022 17:25

I think there are some brands that are better than others but I wouldn't always say that the higher the cost the better the pram. Best thing is to get recommendations from people you know I think.
The one I'm looking at currently is less than £300 for the full travel system so I find it hard to then consider anything above that 😂

Bobduncan · 20/10/2022 17:48

I bought an icandy 7 for £600 from a warehouse clearance site. It was brand new and sealed, so very happy given its in John Lewis for £1100!

muminlndn · 20/10/2022 18:56

We had a mamas & papas set (one of the older versions) for something between £300-400 discounted last time and it served us really well, passed it on to someone else.
Main things to consider:

  • Size of wheels - need larger/suspension if you do off-road walks
  • Size when folded - to fit in your car boot or hall storage
  • Width - to fit between bus/train seats etc. if applicable
  • Weight - especially if you'll need to carry up any stairs, take in/out of boot regularly, some can be 15kg!
  • You may hardly use the bassinet at all so prioritise what you need for the 6 months - 3 years + stage!
dmb91 · 20/10/2022 20:32

We have decided on the Ocarro phantom which is a limited edition so probably won't be in any sales but we're waiting just in case..

TeddyBeans · 20/10/2022 20:59

I've got my silver cross wayfarer from my last pregnancy. If I was buying a new one today I'd look for one with a wider angle on the hood because DS spent a lot of time wincing away from the sun. Otherwise basket space and ease of putting up/down is something to consider

A snooze shade (pushchair cover) is a must for any pushchair really! Full sun protection and makes the pushchair dark for pram naps

Room4onemore · 20/10/2022 21:35

I’ve ordered the icandy orange double, put a deposit down on it so I’ve got time to pay it off. Having it delivered the end of January

Definitely agree with this!

last time we had an icandy but then ended up swapping to the yoyo a bit later, this time I’m tempted just to get the bassinet for the yoyo and not bother with the icandy as it’s so unnecessarily bulky in comparison and the folding mechanism started to stick. There’s a guy who does these geeky but informative videos on YouTube called The Stroller Workshop and properly looks at how they’re made, the materials used and how they work etc. would recommend if you don’t have time to go to try loads! 🤓

Got my rescan today at 2, here's hoping little lady is in a better position today

Babynum2 · 21/10/2022 07:30

We have a doona its basically a car seat on wheels i got it in the sale for 250 but they are just so easy and quick if you drive a lot which i do i cant really walk many places were i live.

havanamama · 21/10/2022 08:28

@Babynum2 the downside is that you can only keep a baby in a car seat for a limited time though so those that like long walks

Dreamingof3 · 21/10/2022 10:14

I've just ordered my travel system 🙃 was on sale and didn't think it'd get any cheaper!

I have a mini city jogger from my last 2 children, I love, love ,love it!
I could get car seat for it but, my friend sold me her I candy peach for £30, this has the main seat and carry cot, its in fair condition - As this is my last child ( my 4th was actually my LAST 5 yrs ago , before we decided this was the last!!) I feel I dont need to buy brand new this time.

Hopingforarainbow27 · 21/10/2022 11:07

@Cats23 is that the baby jogger? I ordered this yesterday! My sister gave me a car seat which reclines so I'm just going to use it on it!!

TeddyBeans · 21/10/2022 15:02

It took 3 flights of stairs, a glug of pepsi and 2 cups of ice cold water but we finally got a good view of little lady 🥳🥳

Ah, that’s great @TeddyBeans !
I had to go for several laps of the building as well the other day but in the end they got what they needed.

Dreamingof3 · 21/10/2022 16:09

Ahh that's a lovely scan @TeddyBeans 💖
