Do they give a print out of information at the 20 week scan?

Franklin321 · 18/10/2022 16:10

@havanamama yeh they should do!

TeddyBeans · 18/10/2022 16:44

@TeddyBeans thank you for sharing! That’s very good they give this so it’s clear.
Did they comment if the % measurements are anything to be concerned about? Or as long as it’s somewhere between 5% and 95% it’s fine?

Pickles23 · 18/10/2022 17:05

Oh I didn't get a report, would have been quite nice to have!

havanamama · 18/10/2022 17:05

I’ve started nesting 😅 I know I still have half way to go, but have sorted through the kitchen and pantry. I want my house to be ask sorted and decluttered as possible, before any of the baby stuff comes in and life gets a lot busier. Anyone else feeling the nesting mode? Haha

firstlittleone · 18/10/2022 17:27

Re time off - I don’t know if I’m being over ambitious in thinking I’ll have a full year off! I get 26 weeks full pay at work and then onto SMP which I’ve managed to build a pot to top me up along the way and then use up all my accrued AL for the last 2 1/2months?
I am concerned about returning to work as I would need to be FT but both me and my partner are shift workers in emergency services so child care is a tricky one

26 weeks full pay is the beat package I have ever heard of of dont think your being optimistic, it's really good. Standard is 6 weeks full pay. I get £27 a week as self employed 🤣🤣 hence me only taking two weeks mat leave

Blocklynn · 18/10/2022 18:17

botleybump · 18/10/2022 13:37

Hey,

Everything I've seen says statutory is only 6 weeks at 90%, do you have an enhancement with work? Or do I need to be looking at other places!?

Thanks

Nope you are right, I got it wrong 😑 🤦‍♀️
first 6 weeks is 90%.

firstlittleone · 18/10/2022 18:26

@hellosunshineagainxxx i’m a FTM so I have no idea what is good/average😂

Katlouise24 · 18/10/2022 18:48

Had a private scan to see baby girl today as ive been so anxious! Everything was perfect and they did a small glampse of 4D! Look at her little fingers😍i feel like i can start to enjoy my pregnancy now that i know everything is okay!

As long as it's between 5 and 95% they're happy 😁 DS had a 17th centile head and ended up okay so we're all good

allthingssparkly · 18/10/2022 14:04

Any ladies know whether your GP can issue your MATB1 form or does it have to be your midwife?

😊

@allthingssparkly i thiiiiiink it has to be the midwife as they write their midwife number on it.

I still can’t decide how long to take. I took 11 months with my first and then used my accrued annual leave to return part time for a few months which was perfect so I’d like to do the same but worried we can’t afford it this time (thanks mortgage rates!!). I do get 16weeks at 90% though so hoping we can save a bit more now to make it happen and use all my KIT days half way through to top up!

Splashh · 19/10/2022 06:14

Thansk for all your msgs, I'll stop worrying now!

Re mat leave, I get 18 weeks paid / 4.5 months. We want someone home for as much of the first year so doing share parental. I plan to take 7 months, and then he'll do 4 months. Baby will have to start nursery part time towards the end of that and then go up to to full time. Financially it won't be easy but will just have to manage...

hol92 · 19/10/2022 07:35

just Looking for a little reassurance as I don’t know if this is normal! But I feel like when I lay in bed I can physically hear my heart beating loads as if it’s pumping really hard, last night I got up to go to the toilet and when I got back felt breathless as if I really had to concentrate on breathing, I think it made me panic and I ended up haven’t a panic attack which I haven’t had in years and and woken up with awful anxiety which again I haven’t had in so long, my blood pressure was fine at my midwife appt Monday, basically I just wondered if it’s normal to feel breathless/feel like your heart is pumping hard

thanks so much xxx

Dreamingof3 · 19/10/2022 07:51

@hol92 I know that your blood volume and heart rate can increase through pregnancy, and it may be that it threw you off a bit, especially if ypu got up quite quickly your blood pressure might have dropped. I can imagine that would quite easily then set off anxiety...horrible though! Maybe talk it through with your midwife for reassurance though xx

Dreamingof3 · 19/10/2022 07:51

I've just booked the last of my annual leave for the last 2 weeks of Feb to then start my mat leave start of march! Only 4 months to go 😂

ChristmasJumpers · 19/10/2022 09:52

@hol92 I get heart palpitations when I lie down too. I think it's common as your heart is working hard to pump more blood but it is a weird feeling. I can feel it and hear it!

My holidays start again in April and I'm due 30th March so thinking of using 2 weeks holiday to finish mid March then (hopefully) 9 months maternity if we can afford it. That would mean back to work in January 2024 and ideally I'd use my accrued leave to go back part time for a couple of months.

havanamama · 19/10/2022 11:17

Out of curiosity, the ones with low risk pregnancy that only have 12 and 20 week NHS scans, are you not planning to do any private scans for the remaining 20 weeks?

I am high risk and the wait from 12 to 20 has been such a struggle, and I think I’ll book a scan between my 20 and 32 week scan privately to reduce the anxiety.

iratepirate · 19/10/2022 11:41

@havanamama no, I hadn’t planned to but my 12 ended up being more like 16wks anyway and my 20 was a few days early so its
not been too long a wait.

All was fine - had to go off for a walk a couple of times to try and get baby into the right position, but all good.

ChristmasJumpers · 19/10/2022 11:41

@havanamama I will have a 20 and 32 week scan and hoping I can cope without a private one just going off baby's movements and my growing bump. I would have a weekly private scan if I could afford it, they're just so magical!

Pickles23 · 19/10/2022 12:02

@havanamama I'm low risk and not planning on having any more scans.

They're SO lovely (and I had one early private scan at about 9 weeks) but now I've had 3 and everything is looking good I don't feel the need to pay for more. As long as I'm feeling movement I'm happy things are progressing nicely.

havanamama · 19/10/2022 12:04

@Pickles23 That is the attitude I am hoping to have, just don’t feel consistent movements yet.
I’ll have my 20 week scan tomorrow and then 2 more in 3rd trimester as I’m high risk. I hope to not do any private ones and just go by the growing bump and movements inbetween.

Perexi · 19/10/2022 12:09

We just had the 16 week appointment and heard the heartbeat for the first time 🥰 we found out that the combined screening results were low too and the letter got lost in the post!

So many different appointments coming up my boss might have a heartattack if i let him know them all in one go 🤣
