@DBS94 i think it’s really good to have some key points you pull out of your memory bank to divert the feeling back into the positive. You can’t just decide not to be anxious as it isn’t a conscious choice but some mental queues can help with perspective and bring intensity back down can be useful.

I might think that say….we are amazing beings, and the fact that my body accepted making another human is a wonderful start as nothing is guaranteed in life. Many struggle to get to where we are. The baby gets a lot out of your happiness. The more you can find positivity, the happier home you are making for your baby the better environment he/she has to grow in. Being concerned is natural, but try to see it as caring about something so precious and not worry :) take a walk, chat to your baby, play with the dog. Find your happiness markers and practice them.

none of us want anything to go wrong, it’s such a special time, we are hormonal and caring so we will feel stuff along the way that sometimes we’d prefer not be feeling. Just know that the stronger you can be for your baby the better, and you are doing your best. What you can’t control there’s no point in hindering your love of being pregnant after all . :)

deep for a Thursday, but hope that helps. Xx

@Skylark1990 I had biopsy then Lletz and after 6 months I had another smear which came back fine and HPV negative so I think that's why they then put me back to 3 years. I think HPV positive is a concern as it causes the cells to develop?

Thank you both so much @Skylark1990 @Pommy1 I think I just get into a bad cycle of over thinking and then when I speak to my friends about it I start to feel better, our minds are our own worst enemy sometimes! It often just takes an outsider to speak some sense to calm things down. I would be lost without this forum 😂

MrsC2018 · 06/10/2022 07:54

@LauraA31 I'm the same with bloods, drink loads this morning so you're very hydrated as it helps bring your veins up

DBS94 · 06/10/2022 08:09

@LauraA31 sorry I've just seen your response, I missed it earlier! I'm noticing all my little niggles more too like back pain and groin pain. I think we just focus to much on keeping ourselves healthy when pregnant we over analyse!

Also regarding bloods in the exact same, ask if you can lie down and drinks lots of water, I've noticed this makes such a difference. Lots of controlled breathing too xx

Skylark1990 · 06/10/2022 08:11

@DBS94 sounds like they sorted it out and if you're last test was all fine then you're all good 🙂👍 hopefully you'll find yourself relaxing a bit more as pregnancy progresses, sometimes when I get anxious about stuff I think it's misplaced anxiety about the pregnancy.

Good tips from @Pommy1 !

They al struggle to get blood from me sometimes @LauraA31 it's horrible isn't it. Lots of water beforehand will help x

@DBS94 i think you’ve nailed it with what you said there. You know you are overthinking it and there is no more reason than the next person to worry, and you know what makes you feel better. So you have your coping mechanism! 😀

We only tell you what you already know. Sometimes you just need a reminder as we all get lost inside our own minds sometimes :)

i think we are all doing really well! Xx

Emeal123 · 06/10/2022 08:20

@DBS94 i definitely get how you’re feeling but like @Skylark1990 and @Pommy1 have said there is only so much we can control and there is so much to feel positive about 💖
my smear results came back in June/July as abnormal and hpv positive, they haven’t been able to do the colposcopy due to me being pregnant but said they can do this after I am 14 weeks. I have an appointment with the consultant next week where I’m hoping they will talk with me in terms of risk to the baby if I do it and risk to me if I wait it out. It’s definitely a good sign that your last smear test results were ok and if there were any worries they can still do investigations if needed xxx be open with you midwife though about how you’re feeling they probably hear these anxieties all the time and could offer some reassurance! Xxx

Springblooms08 · 06/10/2022 08:22

Completely understand the anxiety and around health, it’s so hard, but we are all doing incredibly well and I’m so proud of everyone!

I don’t mean at all to start a debate about covid vaccine as I know everyone has their own opinion which is totally valid, but for anybody who IS having the covid vaccine, can I ask when are you having it? I’m debating whether to have it next week when I’ll be 13w or to wait til I’m more around 15/16w.

DBS94 · 06/10/2022 08:36

You are all so lovely!! This is definitely my safe space along with nipping my husbands ears but he sometimes looks shell shocked when I get a bit over anxious and doesn't know how to react, bless him 😂 @Emeal123 That's so lovely of you to say 💕

@Springblooms08 I had my flu vaccine on Tuesday at my 12 week scan but I hadn't made up my mind about Covid vaccine yet so gave that a miss. I'm going to take the whooping cough one at next appointment but I'm still undecided about Covid one.

Emeal123 · 06/10/2022 08:39

@Springblooms08 i was initially unsure but I’ve had flu this week (negative covid tests) and I’ve never ever felt so unwell in my life. I really don’t want to feel like that again while pregnant so I’ve decided to go for any vaccine I’m offered lol. Until this morning I hadn’t eaten since Sunday and have lost half a stone, totally understand peoples different views on the covid vaccine and I was very unsure myself but I personally don’t want to risk putting my body through anything like this again while pregnant it’s been awful xx

MrsC2018 · 06/10/2022 08:51

@Springblooms08 I'll be having all the vaccines offered, I had covid in a previous pregnancy before the vaccines were around and felt awful and was terrified. I can't cope feeling like that again!

Hannah223344 · 06/10/2022 09:06

Has anyone been told they have gestational diabetes in this pregnancy/previous pregnancies? I had my bloods done yesterday, and the results were uploaded to my patient record which I can access ... the comments on the glucose test suggested I'm at risk of it.

The midwife said she'd call on Monday to discuss any iffy results, but in the meantime just wondered what this all means in reality? (My diet has been pretty shocking these past 12 weeks which I can imagine hasn't helped much 😅)

Good luck to those having scans today!

ancienthouse · 06/10/2022 09:09

@Springblooms08 I'll be having the covid jab around 17/18 weeks I think. I have the flu jab at 15 weeks and I don't want both at the same time in case I have a reaction, don't want to overload my already pregnancy-reduced immune system!

Whooping cough I think I get after my 20 week scan. I like having that one as it gives you a tetanus booster at the same time.

Good luck to everyone with scans today!

DBS94 · 06/10/2022 09:11

Good luck with scans today ladies, can't wait to see pics 🤍

KennAdams · 06/10/2022 09:34

Scan day is finally here 😍 Good luck everyone, currently chugging down some water.

LauraA31 · 06/10/2022 09:53

scan done and all looks fine- what we could see!
apparently we have a very awkward stubborn baby 😂

measuring bang on at 11+1 so too early for all the bits they needed to do, got another appointment in 2 weeks.
baby was wiggling, turning and moving the whole way through the scan! she managed to get one photo which baby is face down so nothing to be seen ha! I was so excited id maybe get a good one for a nub guess but no, baby was not playing ball!
the lady was laughing the whole time as baby would not do a single thing she wanted..

Im just happy all is okay! Photo attached, although not the best haha!

LauraA31 · 06/10/2022 09:54

@J1290 hiccups 😍 so cute it's amazing that's even possible given how tiny they are still

DBS94 · 06/10/2022 10:09

@LauraA31 brilliant 😂 active wee button! X

SavedByGraceAlone · 06/10/2022 10:49

Hi ladies, I know a few of us are having our scans today. Mine's at 11.40am today... Was terrified then feeling quite calm about it, but an hour ago or so I went to the loo and saw some bright red blood on the tissue as I wiped... I think I'm feeling the cramps too or maybe am convincing myself. Feeling so low now... Dreading all my fears realised at this scan... Yet still hoping and praying. Not long to wait now.

Cuppasoupmonster · 06/10/2022 11:02

@SavedByGraceAlone dont panic! At least you’ve got the scan very soon so will know what’s going on. Keeping my fingers crossed for you xxx

DBS94 · 06/10/2022 11:08

@SavedByGraceAlone Oh no! How many weeks are you? Make sure they do a good thorough scan and check surrounding the baby, it may just be a pocket of blood somewhere that has burst - very common! Let us know how you get on xx

SavedByGraceAlone · 06/10/2022 11:11

Thank you @Cuppasoupmonster and @DBS94. I'm 12+4 today but maybe a couple of days behind.
Indeed, at least not long to wait now... Trying not to panic. X

Pommy1 · 06/10/2022 11:16

@SavedByGraceAlone that must be very scary, we associate bleeding with something terrible but there are many many reasons for it when pregnant. And what a perfect day baby has decided to frighten momma, you can see a professional very very soon at your scan so you’ll have that piece of mind and focus on swing the little one wriggling with mischief xx
