Hi, I’ve been following the threads from the beginning but first time writing. This will be my 3rd baby. Dc1 is 15, dc2 is 10 and I’m currently 14+6 after having a miscarriage in April, so still very anxious but so far so good 🤞🏽
Hope everyone is doing ok and is it possible to have the link for the Facebook page please
Thank you 😊

Franklin321 · 05/09/2022 19:15

@Eastybaby19 I went straight for elective, I laboured to 9cm with my son and ended with an emcs…tbh don’t fancy doing it again 🤣 I’m also a planner and like the idea of having a set date in mind!

Eastybaby19 · 05/09/2022 19:30

@Franklin321 I had a crappy time last time too was induced at 36+6 weeks so he was just way too early to come out 4 attempts to break waters which was awful!! only got to 5cm after 4 days 🙈.
I don't think I'll have anymore after this one so I kinda feel like I'm missing out if I don't try again but then the idea of a planned section knowing the date especially when I've a 3 year old at home & then ending up in emergency section again etc etc I just dunno 🤷‍♀️🤣

TeddyBeans · 05/09/2022 19:38

@Franklin321 gorgeous scan ❤️ as you're having a gender scan are you happy for guesses?

OP posts:
Dreamingof3 · 05/09/2022 19:45

@Eastybaby19 no ones asked me yet 🤣 but I'm.plamminh a vba2c. Emergency first time and planned second. This will be our last so I also feel like I need to give it a go or I'll feel like I've missed out. Also...cannot be arsed with the recovery again 😂

Babynum2 · 05/09/2022 19:49

@ChristmasJumpers I promise your not alone i didnt cook a dinner, clean my house or even leave my house for 3 weeks when my sickness was at its worse. I know its hard but try stay hydrated even if you cant eat that stopped me getting the keatons and ask for some different meds. I have had all of them now and none stop the sicky feeling but i have not been sick for 2 days im 14 weeks so think its starting to get better just remember its all for a good outcome!

Franklin321 · 05/09/2022 19:53

@TeddyBeans ooh yeh, what do you think? I’ve been studying it all afternoon 😂

havanamama · 05/09/2022 20:23

Oh the birth!

I was leaning towards a section, as it seemed like the “easy way”, but the all the mums in my life said it’s best try yourself as then the recovery is quicker.

I think I’ll decide at the end of the pregnancy, as will have a 31 and 37 ultrasound

LittleAcorn20 · 05/09/2022 20:26

@alotoftutus I hope you managed to call.
As others have said it may not be as serious as your mind is leading you to believe. Our brains are so clever at jumping to worst case scenario!
Virtual handhold 🫂
I'm keeping everything crossed baby is happy and healthy and the drs needed to discuss something else. I'm sorry you have the worry.

TeddyBeans · 05/09/2022 20:30

@Franklin321 from the skull I'm gonna say a boy. The nub kind of hints to a girl (it's very straight) but there's still time for it to rise. The skull is very boxy which is telltale boy!

OP posts:
LittleAcorn20 · 05/09/2022 20:33

I am not finding out gender beforehand, waiting til the birth... But still interested to know if anyone has any theories 😁 I can't work skull theory out myself!
I see a rounded forehead = girl
But a squared off jaw = boy
🤷‍♀️

alotoftutus · 05/09/2022 20:35

Thanks ladies. I finally built up the courage to call and kept getting voicemail 😭 so now I have to wait until tomorrow to try and call again.
I can't function today, I've been stroppy with my kids and just want to hide away and cry.
Currently laying in my 4 year olds toddler bed with him squashed as anything because he's scared of the storms. Trying my best to stay off Google until I know more.

Eastybaby19 · 05/09/2022 20:41

I'll be going for growth scans with the consultant from 28 weeks and they want to know by then which is in December so still a while to consider!!

Got my letter through the door today for my 20 week scan! 10th of October was such a shock as in my head 20 weeks is ages away but it's actually not!! I'll be just over 19 weeks then 🙈

Eastybaby19 · 05/09/2022 20:43

@alotoftutus I've been thinking of you all day, fingers and toes crossed for you guys ❤️

I will probably only breastfeed for the first 6 weeks but with a bottle too.

i looked into this and breastfeeding has some benefits to baby but only for the first 6 weeks. After 6 weeks there are basically no benefits to baby and a slight benefit to mum as it slightly reduces breast cancer risk.

my main reason for not wanting to breastfeed is limited benefits to baby after 6 weeks and I don’t want to be the sole person who can feed as that won’t be good for my mental health.

it’s good to be talking about this as there is so much damaging talk about breast is best and making mums feel guilty.

I thought it was 6 months rather than 6 weeks? Interested to know what you read.

I know the vast majority of women in the UK don't EBF, but for me the immune system benefits are a big motivation. My first was born during Covid and knowing that she was getting antibodies from me when I was vaccinated definitely made me glad I persevered through the really hard days (and nights). We managed 1.5 years and I only stopped because I wanted to get pregnant again (I know some women tandem feed but it wasn't for me). Hoping to get to 2 years with my second, which is the World Health Organisation's recommendation.

alotoftutus · 05/09/2022 20:53

@Eastybaby19 thank you. My husbands telling me not to stress until I've spoken to someone but I'm finding it impossible not to. Tonight is going to be a long night.

TeddyBeans · 05/09/2022 20:58

@LittleAcorn20 I'd guess boy but it could be either tbh 😂 Regardless, the legs on that baby are astounding! You have a gymnast in the making

OP posts:
Franklin321 · 05/09/2022 20:59

@TeddyBeans I will probably agree and say boy too…my husbands family seem to only make boys (no girls for about 5 generations) so I’d be shocked if it was a girl 😆

TeddyBeans · 05/09/2022 21:02

@Franklin321 oh I'm gunning for you to have a girl now! Wouldn't that be incredible!?

OP posts:
alotoftutus · 05/09/2022 21:03

@Deut28 I've never heard of it being 6 weeks either to be honest.
My youngest is 3 this week and I'm still breastfeeding. I'm cutting down massively as I don't want to tandem feed and planned to stop anyway regardless of pregnancy. We are now only down to 2-3 feeds.

There are so so many benefits to it beyond just the science based ones in my opinion. When they are poorly and not eating or teething or even when they are just sad boobs make it all better every time. I wouldn't know how to parent without breastfeeding 🤣 I have no idea how to put a baby to sleep or comfort one without it and I've been a mum for 10 years lol

LittleAcorn20 · 05/09/2022 21:05

@Deut28 I agree and an interested to know where 6 weeks comes from too?
There's so much about the immune system benefits, that way exceed 6 weeks.
And you're right it's actually 2 years recommended. I couldn't do that long personally but I really hope you reach that goal this time round ☺️🤞
Absolutely each to their own and I wholely believe that 'fed is best' and there is WAY too much forcefulness with the 'breast is best' message, alongside a lack of support which is just infuriating for so many new mums. To be told it's the best thing for your baby but then not have the support when you need it most is just dreadful and shouldn't be allowed!
A happy mum making her own informed choices and a happy baby is best ☺️

Deut28 · 05/09/2022 21:13

@alotoftutus 3 years is amazing! Well done you. I know what you mean about the soothing power. Having phased out her dummy first and now breastfeeding, I really miss having a magic, solves all problems solution.

Franklin321 · 05/09/2022 21:13

@TeddyBeans my MIL would lose her mind with excitement if it was a girl! 😂 I‘M happy with either, a girl for a change, a boy because I know where I am with that 😅

TeddyBeans · 05/09/2022 21:19

@Franklin321 and a tonne of hand-me-downs I'm sure! I half expect tiny to be a boy (would love a girl) but it would be more convenient to have a boy cuz I could reuse everything from DS 😅 gotta think of the cost of living these days!!
